I actually got it dialed in a couple years ago. I literally had to create an I.V. for it an micro-tune the sync as I rode it around the parking lot. All jets were fine, float level was fine and flow to the slave was fine. I did replace both intake manifolds and after that, the sync finally fell into place. I may have had a very small vacuum leak in one of the old manifolds that was corrupting the sync process. After I got the sync dialed in, the bike ran beautifully!
when butterfly is adjustet properly its perfektly horizontal in full throttle position. an old roller that delays the start of the opening of the secondary carp butterflay leads to that overspinn. a delayed obeningof the butterfly does not have any bad impact on torque. but the butterfly turned over the perfect horizontal position is like closing the trottle. youll miss some hp in 95-100% of throttle opening. was the same with my carburator and my TT 600 36A went beatifully after some work.
I replaced the intake manifolds and then was able to get the carbs dialed in. Turns out the old manifolds had enough of a vacuum leak to make my adjustments worthless.
>>> The roller that operates the throttle on the secondary is on the WRONG side of the lever. That's your problem! Roller goes on the outside edge of lever.
i ad to changed my Intake boot also, they are known problems on these engine. The OEM first batch were crap,,, Remember the 2 intake boot looks identical BUT they are not.the Right is 3 mm bigger and the left side. i will check if my secondary (the accelerator carb) open as yours now. thanks for the video Gef Eastern Quebec
Not sure why it say my name is Emilee Tschanz it is not. Im a dude, name is Jay. The CDI get hot and throws the timing off. That why it is popping and backfiring. I raced these back in the day. Pro-Tec Yamaha's We used to carry a couple spares to the races with us just in case. Cdi's are expensive also. There is a guy on Ebay that sells aftermarket ones that are better than stock and won't burn up. Wish we had those back in 1984. Good luck, Jay
I guess you probably have figured this out by now, or gave up - but it should be noted that the secondary carb's gate shouldn't even begin to open until the first carb's slide is halfway, and should be fully open when the first slide is also fully open. It looks like your setting is incorrect in that it is opening the secondary gate too soon.
+Matthew Moore , i feel you're right and doing so, it's leaning the mixture to a point where it does missfire or backfire. Or maybe over time, the carbs jets could have varnish and then the mixture is not as should be.
Hello This is the problem that I have with my carburetor and I was looking for a long time but found the problem here . My yamaha xt600 works fine with half rpm but when I rev to high rpm it struggles and throws backfire and loss of power brrap brrapp . What I have to do pls help me ?
I am not an expert but I think that the metal part that the roller rides on is on backwards so when the roller hits the second thing it rolls on the outside and not inside.
well if it runs fine then pops and cracks.... and you let it set for a sec and re start... does it run fine ???? if so ur float level may be low.... try that.... or ur petcock is clogged.
Its not your Carbs. You have a bad CDI unit. The tt600's are known for this problem. Runs great one minute, next its popping and backfiring. Then it will run good for a while. Then the CDI will get hot and start to run bad again. over and over and over. That is the problem 99% positive.

the only thing I know that these carbs while cool, are a pain in the ass to do anything with..

i have exactly the same problem! Did you find a solution?
The Metal piece is installed correctly, not like Ron Durham and Drew Merryman claim.
Float level goes low?
