It's to get people USED to being pushed around by rotten people. Thugs don't care about suspension. They don't have goals that include college. The rich kids don't have to go to the schools run by thugs, so they're protected....as they will be by their parents' connections (which will become theirs). Only the middle, lower middle, and poor with goals including college, will be harmed by that nonsense. THAT'S the group they have to get used to being bullied and pushed around....so the little rich kids, who become their bosses don't have to work at earning respect. They happily take loathing and fear. The really poor, that don't get to go to college, are already used to it. They obey the gangs, the cops, and whatever the bureaucrats demand for them to get their assistance. Only a fool that had a well off childhood, protected from thugs, would believe that "violence never solved anything." WHY are there TWO wars going on right now. I'll tell you why. Bullies entered sovereign territory and killed citizens of a society that DOESN'T want to live under their invaders' rule. Who ever heard of a country being invaded/ bombed and not retaliate? No one, that's who. Any nation that's known for not being willing/able to retaliate severely gets destroyed. Ever see what happens when parents don't set a brat straight early in its development? Scary....
Any bully that made my life hell a while got their clocks cleaned eventually, when I was good and fed up with their nonsense. I literally NEVER had a minute's trouble from them afterwards. They didn't even mess with others afterwards. It's hard to get people to put up with you, when they've seen the honor roll girl with pony tails and glasses kick your @$$. At a minimum, they no longer got suspended for fighting or bullying....so maybe violence DOES solve a lot.

Yes!! He'll probably get 10x the better education. Homeschooling is not structured the way public education is. Lessons can happen anywhere! All kinds of math can be taught while food shopping! I wish I had homeschooled my kids.

@@CheleBoxy The part that gets me, is the kids often get p!$$ed at the idea of homeschool. "I'll miss my friends." I dunno. If my full time mill working mom has offered me the option to be in my home (as ridiculously poor as it was) and read assignments and write answers to questions while she was at work (I made straight A's in class rooms 2-3 years above my own age group), I would've JUMPED at it. She'd have checked the work after she got home and given tests then or the weekend. I had friends.... quite a few of them, but I couldn't parlez that into a good reason to put up with a lot of the nonsense. I had viciously cruel teachers occasionally (in the 70s in the deep south it was a cardinal sin to be a divorced woman...or her daughter.) I had to ride a bus with a loathsome bunch of miscreant thugs and hooligans. Let's talk about that ridiculously uncomfortable wooden desk too. Friends were merely a teeny bandaid over the wounds some aspects of public schools inflicted on me routinely. Yeah, we homeschooled from first grade.

He had a conversation with a tall woman on the swim team trying his best to justify that Bill/Lea Thomas should have been allowed to participate as a transgender woman in the swim team, pointing out that this particular female swimmer also had advantages because she was taller that some of her competitors. IDK…I’ve caught him in several of the source videos on these topics just like this one where he doesn’t accurately portray the facts as he presents the scenario - and not just one or two but as many as 5-10. This is a huge problem to be an academic who is presenting material out of context in an an era where this age group has been indoctrinated to believe the worst of each other motives…how could they not in this climate? They have no frame of reference. When your likable professor is making cases for understanding one another, yet he presents the anecdotes for the lessons without telling the truth, & he’s affirming that certain cases I’ve watched him speak of were obviously racist or bigoted, etc, then he’s just putting it a slightly less aggressive pill, but none the less a poisonous pill - he’s still reinforcing what they’ve been told incessantly their whole lives through current media coverage. Without the actual facts of the PJ situation, for instance, they’re left with no idea that he wasn’t referring to anyone as the “n” word - that changes the entire perspective. And he didn’t bother to help them explore the issue of the hijab & the elderly employee - or tell whether it was hypothetical or not - & if true, to find out WHEN this happened with the older woman & if she had been told that hijabs and general religious paraphernalia & attire were prohibited - I say this not because that would be ok, but because many of the people this age wouldn’t know that after 9/11, and also after terror attacks in London & French cities they were conflicted regarding the wearing of (France ruled burkas & hijabs - as well as many Catholic clothing) illegal for a time but could not enforce it after years of fighting & controversy) about whether the attire would provoke unrest & violence. Again, absolutely wrong by any western democracy legal standards, but it would have helped to have known if this little story was in that timeframe because they also need the contextual information explaining just HOW chaotic & frightening the time period was for people. Not to defend it but as an example of how to try to understand motivations & missteps, mass bad behavior, etc, that EVERY time period has had - and all very different yet similar in that people are continuously stepping in it repeatedly because we’re people - if we’re to begin to heal wounds and anger, from ALL sides. A professor who keeps doing this is either doing so because he himself is in the bubble and thinks he’s doing something right, which implies that he most often thinks things were done because “racism,” or didn’t know of the inaccuracies…which means he didn’t do the even the cursory research. Even though he has research candidates under his advisory lead. Either way it makes him less than an honest broker.

Zero tolerance is probably one of the worst policies there is.. My teen son was beaten up in school by 3 other teens for Not being one of them. All he did was block the hits and kicks as best he could. He was suspended for 2 weeks, the same as the 3 thugs. For just being involved.

Totally agree. The only power that words hold is in the reactions they elicit. If a negative word elicits no negative reaction it has no power. Mean spirited children used to make fun of my last name as a child. I finally figured out in second grade that if I joined them in making fun of my own last name that it stole all the fun out of what they were doing. If I could figure that out in second grade why can some adults not figure out that same simple strategy. After I took the power away from them by not giving them the desired reaction it wasn't long before no one was mocking my last name anymore.

I remember back to the year 1982. I had gotten a job at a convenience store & was being trained. I'm white & the lady training me was black. Well, at the end of the shift we counted the monies, did the receipts, etc. & clocked out. The next day I went to work only to be told that I was fired because SHE had forgotten to lock the safe. A safe that I only got to see & not touch. The boss literally told me that they couldn't fire the black lady because she threated to go to the NAACP & they didn't want to make waves, but someone had to be fired because of what happened. I was homeless at the time & staying at the local Salvation Army so I didn't have to sleep on the streets. So I REALLY needed this job. Was this fair? Of course not. Did it make me hate black people? No. The lady had a family to feed & just wanted to keep her job. She, however, had someone to turn to that had her back. I didn't. But have things gotten any better in the last 41 yrs? I don't think so. In fact, I think it's gotten a lot worse. Our system is broken, kids are being brainwashed, & a lot of people just regurgitate what they're told instead of taking the time to investigate for themselves what the truth is. I say we go back to telling our children "no", not creating a bunch of entitled adults, spanking a butt every once in a while & treating EVERYONE with dignity & respect. That's just an old ladies view. Love your channel!

I had a similar situation happen to me and a friend in the 90s. We both worked at a little Caesars and our boss was black. He rarely showed up for work and when he did he was usually high on crack. My friend and I only 16 usually ran everything including closing the store alone every day. We never mentioned to the regional manager about about our boss not being there not showing up we just let him do his thing. When we came into work one day the regional manager said he wanted to talk to us both in the back office. When we went to the back two police officers and our boss who never showed up was in the back. The regional manager then explained to us, several thousands of dollars had come up short over the last few months then accused both me and my best friend of taking it and the police where there to arrest us. The boss who never showed up threw us under the bus started accusing us as well and making accusations of things we weren’t responsible for. We both told the police to review the video (this little ceasars was inside Kmart) the video from Kmart not the actual little ceasars. The police thankfully reviewed the video and saw that every night that boss would enter the little ceasars after we had closed. The regional manager still fired me and my friend and didn’t chose to press charges on the boss. His explanation was the same thing. Something had to be done and if he did anything to the boss he’d go to the NAACP which would cost the company even more money….

Last year while walking through the hallway there was a large group of black students messing around and using the N-word. They weren’t allowed to use that word on the campus. My husband asked them to stop using that word and one replied that they can use it whenever they want just not him because he’s white. After some control discussion that was becoming argumentative my husband said in a huff, You can’t use the word ni___r on campus. He told them he was very disappointed but left them and went straight to the administration and told them the situation that just happened, because there was a group you didn’t drag any of them in to get in trouble but just corrected them. The administration took down his notes and said OK. The next day, apparently one of them was filming the situation and had taken just two seconds of the video where my husband use that word in correction, Looped it to repeat over and over and put it on every single social media. My husband was not even suspended, but then the parents came forward and they held a meeting with the parents and students and my husband. He was fired.

About the 71 yrs old woman, I disagree. Because if I'm given the order 'no one with a hat or head covering' , no one will go in with anything on their head. Religious reason or not. Unless my employer explicitly gives me a list of exclusion. It's not personal but commitment to duty.
Thinking a woman of that age has never seen a hijab or does not know what it is, is unlikely. Caring more about the job she's been paid for, than people protesting makes more sense to her.
But I was not there so I'm only speculating. I would doubt she would have any reason to be mean about a head cover.

On the security person story, we are only being told part of the story. We do not know what she has been instructed to do. It doesn’t matter if she was 71 and black. What matters is what she had been told what was allowable and not allowable and how she understood it. As far as zero tolerance rules, these usually come about due to “double standards” where a person of selected sex, race, religious orientation can get away with doing something against normal rules or morays and a person not included in the selected groups is punished. Zero tolerance is an attempt to evenly apply rules across all people. It is also used address people who purposely push against rules in order to break them without being held accountable. A “rule” should apply to everyone and not just to a select few. There can be caveats but they also need to be clearly defined. As far as this teacher goes, he does not ever really challenge the students to question their beliefs.

I think that the zero-tolerance mindset is more about not making excuses for minor offenses until they become major offenses. The idea is that if you come down hard on minor bullying or violence or whatever, you can nip it in the bud. The problem is with the “zero” part. Too often it means talking about or reacting to the bad thing is just as punishable as committing it. So the security guard who complains about being called a racial slur is treated the same as the student who was using it. The child who draws a picture of the towers in New York burning on 9/11 is suspended because of his “violent fantasies”. The boys who point their fingers on the playground and say “bang” are punished because there is zero tolerance for weapons “actual or simulated”.

    • @freethinker3279
      @freethinker3279 5 місяців тому

@@david672orford It is pretty clear that you have not been in any position where you had to enforce any rules. Rules, and laws for that matter, are not put in place to control peaceful, considerate, honest people but to put bounds on people who are none of those. Do good people get harmed with them? Yes, it is collateral damage. As an example, one of the safety rules in my career was that people with long hair had to wear a hairnet to keep it contained. It became a constant fight as to the definition of “long”. As such, a no tolerance rule was put in place that required everybody to wear one. Even people which were bald. Resulting in uniform compliance. As far as your example of a boy pointing his finger and going “bang”, in this day and age of gangs and their associated lack of respect for life that simple act could actually be a real threat of a future attack. How could you know? Whose responsibility is it to, in the moment, determine if it was just in play or was an actual threat? And is that a responsibility that you would gladly accept?

One more thing, a quick story that happened to one of my daughters friends at school last year-she recorded herself rapping along to her favorite song, which contained the N word. She posted it on Tik Tok, and it was seen by other kids (in high school). This wasn’t done at school, but on her own time. One of my daughters other friends wrote TWO letters to the school board saying how “unsafe” she felt in such a “racist school”, and how this girl needed to be expelled immediately. Thankfully the school kept a level head about it and only addressed it through an assembly, urging the kids to be mindful that anything they post will be public, but they never denounced what this girl did. I still think they should’ve left it alone altogether, but I was relieved they took no further action. This girl meant no harm, and the other girl knew her, and should’ve known this kid wasn’t “racist”. This is the fragility these policies and beliefs around language breed. It’s also messed up that if the girl rapping hasn’t been white, the one who wrote the school board never would’ve done so.

The lyrics in rap songs these days are often disgraceful. You should be angry with your daughter for using them. The problem is made worse by the fact that rap takes very little musical ability to perform so anybody can think they can "sing" a rap song. The fact is rap is more like chanting and seldom has the elements of music that make music great, such as pitch, tone, vibrato, melody and harmony and, of course, decent words in the lyrics.
So, other than foul lyrics, rap is purely rhythm and that is often off beat too.
If someone is so "in to" the rap culture that they think they can perform it on line they should have the common sense to realize they cannot use the "N" word if "dey ain't black."
It's just like the R*d Neck Comic could get away with calling himself a Red N*ck and making fun of so-called Red N*cks, but some other culture would be offensive to use that term.
