Whoever wrote this script has done an amazing job. They have seamlessly woven together Millet's biography, artistic technique, and the historical context in which he lived. I look forward to many more quality videos like this one
That was really great. Thanks a million. I have a so much better appreciation for Millet in the history of art. I was unaware that so many impressionists and post-impressionists borrowed so heavily from his images. And such a humble mas as well.
This was the best video on Millet I've seen and has boosted his talent and character to me so much I must buy a book on him now! What a great man and fabulous artist
Yes, I have always liked Dix. He is mentioned in my Max Beckmann video at 16:46. You might like to take a look. Just click on this link: ua-cam.com/video/H-jSUekYFBo/v-deo.html
If a robot voice must be used why not perfect it first, or at least proof listen. Van Gock? Really? A poor reader detracts, be it human or artificial. Truly sad.
Van Gogh is pronounced “Van Go” primarily by Americans I believe. British pronunciation is closer to “Van Gock” but the “gh” is softer than that. However … I do think the robotic voice detracts from the video. If this is a work of original scholarship, I would rather hear the imperfect, real, human voice of the person whose thinking went into writing the script. Robotic voices still don’t know which words to emphasize, so even if it’s almost perfect, it’s artificial-sounding, which is very distracting from the content.
French speakers would not agree with "mi·luht" as the proper pronunciation of his last name. You made an effort with every other name, including the other French natives. It's mee-YAY See: How to Pronounce Jean-François Millet (French Artist) @UA-camJulien

These are the best art documentaries.

Yes, more modern artists have a lot to thank Millet for!
So lovely - you enrich Van and so the world.
Then the other artists too - thank you.
Another fantastic video from Arti-facts.
Outstanding!
Glad you like it!
Amazing ❤
Arti-facts: AMAZING character!
Love your videos and format. Any chance of doing Otto Dix???

I had no idea how much the Parisian art critics loathed any painting celebrating the humanity and nobility of the peasant.
23:54 Was hoping the narrator would say the name of the painting.
If you are referring to the thumbnail picture, it is "Man with a Hoe". The picture is discussed in the video.😊
@@arti-facts-4u Actually, the one with the women carrying sticks on 23:54. 😁
Its called "Winter - The Faggot Gatherers". The title of the work is shown below the slide at 23:54
VAN GOGH ADORATED MILLET; IT IS MUCH MORE MILLET THAN IMPRESSIONIST.

Depends where you live. Have a look at this video which discusses the subject ua-cam.com/video/KjOvPZTURLI/v-deo.html

That is exactly how Vincent would have pronounced it.
Why not have a real human narrator? This AI voice was terribly distracting, couldn't finish watching. So annoying!
Sorry you didn't like it.😒
@@arti-facts-4u Now feel guilty for unkind review. Sorry!

Thanks for that. Pronunciation can be a problem.
