    The issue with the gasket at the bottom of the blade, I believe (I'm only saying this as someone whos barely owned one for a year, has been addressed. Instead of it being rubber, they've made it metal. Also, when making smoothies you should always put water in it, and pulse it a few times before turning the smoothie cycle on. This will help reduce the heavy shaking and the possibility that the food could get stuck in the blades.

    At the highest speed, the tip speed on the blade is 330 mph. That creates friction and that is what allows it to heat up soup. That capability also means it's important not to overprocess when blending other things because it will heat it up. Part of why they have the preset cycles is because it can be difficult to know when to shut it off when using the manual speed control.
