Timeless! When i saw it the first time 1995 driving by, it felt like a spaceship. I was so impressed, in my opinion still one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
I'm having my GTV overhauled currently, I've spent a small fortune on welding last year and I'll be picking it up next week after having the cambelt, water pump single mass flywheel clutch and a few other jobs carried out by a specialist down in Edinburgh. There's plenty more welding to be done, paint and finishing touches until she'll be on the road. It's been over 4 years now since I last drove her in anger and boy I can't wait. Hence why I'm watching videos of folks on UA-cam talking about them 😄 Braw video sir and you've done it justice! Shame you didn't get an exterior shot to hear how the exhaust sounded but I've got a good idea myself. 😉
As a 2.0 phase 3 GTV owner I have to admit I'm still wanting to scratch the Busso itch even though I found a tidy, well maintained example, nothings missing, everything works and it's a total pleasure to drive. This one looks awesome in the Azzurro Nuvola and the Alfaholics treatment no doubt makes it even more special. What a thing!
T Spark is the better daily driver, I hammered mine for years and it needed only a few bits & pieces with regular servicing and so not expensive at all. Love the Busso but I also love the T Spark with a decent exhaust.
Nice Alfa indeed. Two things come to mind : Is the aerial on the roof factory ?...The 3.2 from factory put out 240 hp so are we saying just a ecu remap on a n/a engine gives up 30 hp ? ......Not sure about that ! Maybe 10 hp tops . Get it on a rolling road for the truth..........Nice video
The GTV has an factory electric aerial on the rear left quarter, the roof aerial is not original, it's an awful addition if you ask me. I doubt 30bhp will come from a remap, I had 3.2 156 GTA once which on paper was 250bhp but a rolling road recorded it well above that, I can't remember the exact figure but it was at least 10bhp more.
Removing the pre cats combined with an ECU tune gave an additional 30 bhp, a common upgrade. The 3.2 all gave 250 from factory. The 240 assigned to non GTA 3.2 versions was purely a paperwork exercise so as to give the GTA's an edge. In reality, no difference in tune or power between any 3.2.
Sorry but not a great start to the video to start by giving false information. The car was not designed by Walter De Silva. It was designed by Enrico Fumia at Pininfarina and the interior is by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. Also the 3.2 has 240hp as standard. Getting 270 out of it would require uprated cams, not just ECU remap. Other than that, nice video of what I think is a somewhat forgotten and under appreciated modern classic.
It's a gorgeous car, but for me that awful grille it had up until the 2003 Facelift with that 90's Bubble style Grille is the only part that lets it down. Thankfully the 2003-2006 models have the best looking Shield Grille on an Alfa since the 60's and for me it COMPLETELY changes the presence and appearance of the car. I test drove a 2004 variant with the iconic 3.2L V6 in a Dark Metallic Grey with a Vatican Red leather interior... My God... It was perfection to look at. If you slapped a Ferrari or Maserati badge on it nobody would baulk at paying 5-10x the price. Sadly because I'm 6f5" it was a bit cramped for me and it's really only a 2 seater even if 'technically' it's a 4 but I challenge any adult to fit in those back seats, it's impossible. If I were to have a 2nd car, a fun weekend car, this would be it or the Spider variant.

@@PistonBust wow, please treasure it for all of us 🫶
That colour is outstanding,
Great video thank you. I own a 1998 3.0 version and have the same level of affection for that Busso engine. It is pure visceral Italian muscle .......
It is... to die fur ! Great video love your delivery and points.

Brilliant video, hard to find any Irish content creators into their cars.
Thanks for the comment 👍 Not too many of us out there, but we do exist. Any support like shares are always welcome 🙏
Had one of these in Limerick years ago. 98-LK-65XX. I hope it's still on the road.
Beautiful car, always liked the Alfa’s, had a 156 was one of my favourite and funnily enough one of my more reliable.
My 159 was brilliant tbh. I had a 146 which had been badly cared for by previous owners and it behaved as you'd expect.
The 916 was designed by Enrico Fumia, not Walter de Silva.
Walter de Silva designed the interior and Enrico Fumia the exterior if I'm not mistaken
@@benfearnhead9851 Interiors were designed by Centro Stile AR by Arcangelo Jeker under De Silva.
Great video beautiful car
Enjoyed that thanks

Yep, TS is much more balanced but still agile on twisty roads.

Imagine paying over 1800 euros to tax this beauty for a year Takes the fun out of it
Where are you from ??? That's robbery, it's £400 in the uk, still complete government overreach
Looks better today than when it was launched. Hit and miss reliability and build quality. Lucky to get a good one.
"Bosso" 😄

great colour , and it is indeed a beautiful car - until you walk around the back ... what happened ?
What color is this ?
Walter Da Silva? Do you mean Enrico Fumia?
