    Great video, as are all of your videos!! Love your ability to explain in details the topics your covering. Ive learned a great deal from your channel that I didnt learn in some of the courses I've taken. Anyone would be honored to have you as an instructor and its tempting for myself to travel from Illinois to take some of your courses..lol...Im always striving to increase safety/awareness in my diving. Keep it up man!!

    Very interested in public safety diving, but don’t currently work in the public safety field (not a cop, fireman, EMS, etc). Can civilians do this?

      There were several civilians in my PSD class a few years ago. Lots of valuable skills and knowledge to be had in a PSD course that can accompany skills and knowledge learned in the rescue class. Definitely something to do if you plan on doing recovery dives. Lots of variables of environmental, psychological and mechanical hazards of doing this kind of work

      Hello WeiseGuy91, there are several Private PSD Teams, especially here in our area. So yes, civilians can do this.

    Good information Brian. Like diving in general, it looks fairly straight forward but there are all sorts of little details you need to know., like the 20 min dive limit.

      Hello Doug's Messy Garage, glad you liked the video. The Public Safety Diver Course goes over a lot of different things that the general diver would never consider doing while underwater. Some of the skills taught are not necessary for the average diver. Such as the 20 minute rule.

      Hello Robert Griffis, if you are referring to our other Instructor, its a soft glove from OrcaTorch.

    How do you setup the first buoy in detail?

    • @LakeHickoryScuba
      @LakeHickoryScuba  2 роки тому

      Hello Simpel_, great question. Our drop marker buoys, as we call them, are nothing more than a boat bumper, with 100 feet of line attached to it on both ends, tied into a triangle. Then wound up and we added a 2lb weight to the end. Now you have a drop marker.

    So am currently an Army diver ( not America) and am familiar with a lot of the stuff you've made mention of but is there a dive certification for public safety diver, and if so where ??

      Hello Elton Gordon, there are multiple training agencies that teach a Public Safety Diver Course. Here at Lake Hickory Scuba, we have offered the PSD course through PADI, SSI, PDIC, and SEI.

      @@LakeHickoryScuba Well am PADI certified but I've not seen anything that suggest Public safety diver or doing a PADI course would inadvertently make you qualified for such ?

      Hello Elton Gordon sorry to hear that your local PADI training center does not offer the course for you. Here is a link for one of the course we teach here locally. lakehickoryscuba.com/courses/ssi-public-safety-diver
