WYES New Orleans Pledge Drive - Aug. 2005

Shortly before Hurricane Katrina, WYES (the PBS affiliate in New Orleans) aired another of its popular local history documentaries, "Stay Tuned: New Orleans' Classic TV Commercials".
This was the last such documentary project produced by the station before Katrina struck New Orleans. The storm's flood waters consumed WYES' old studios and offices on Navarre Ave.
After years of planning and construction, WYES' newly built complex will soon be open to the public at the same Navarre Ave. location.
This pledge break is co-hosted by Peggy Scott Laborde, who still hosts the station's weekly arts and entertainment review show "Steppin' Out", and is still active in producing WYES' acclaimed documentaries on New Orleans history.
Longtime station chief operating officer/executive vice president Beth Arroyo Utterback (now general manager at WWOZ radio in New Orleans) also co-hosts with former New Orleans City Councilwoman Jackie Clarkson.
