I am super looking forward to the MM video of yours, if that's what the end of the video is presuming. Just discovered your channel from this video and I feel like I'm going to have a great time through your vids!
when i see an upload from this mf i sit down and waste an hour learning about glitches ill never see again and its still some of the most enteraining content on this site, love your videos bro
I'm the same with most Zelda games. I watch all the videos about the glitches but I never use any of them in my playthroughs 🤣 I know multiple glitches for TOTK but I never use them, I can't see the point unless I'm going for a glitched speedrun 🤷
As someone who never watches speed runs, I really appreciate how much you dumbed down the explanations and made me feel like this is something I could pull off
I didn't know about the wall in Ganon's Tower being classified as a loading zone. You showed the Spirit trial and I thought for sure you were going to showcase clipping out of the trial and walking on the featureless collision back to the entrance and walking through the now unloaded barrier
I think this might be the first oot glitch video I've seen that uses the pc port, and performing the glitches in an order you could need to use them from the start of a new playthrough is a great idea. Great vid!
Well, I asked for another glitch run-through for the older games, and you didn’t disappoint. Like I said before, your glitch run throughs are like crack, and I appreciate the fix. Thanks!
"like crack" Damn bro, crack is expensive, and you get that kinda fix from video game glitches too? Imagine wasting money when you can just giggle the stick and jiggle the code.
Another speedrun strat in Hyrule Castle involves damaging yourself down so that you can bombchu yourself on the same frame that the Impa cutscene starts. You'll still learn the song, and talking to Impa will warp you out, saving about a minute.
The only experience I've had with sequence breaking in OoT was waaay back in the day using the "crooked cartridge" trick. Which essentially consist of slightly pulling the cartridge on one side until the game gets all scrambled and you can for example skip the Kokiri blocking your way out of the forest. The downside was that I did this too many times a day messed up my cartridge. All my saves got delated or would get deleted if I turn off the console. But even if the file survived, if you restarted your game, your name would appear in Japanese characters, and if someone in the game did your name, the game would freeze and even if you restarted the game it would happen again, and you'll have to delete your file and star over again.
Love listening to people explain video game glitches. It's like a wizard reading me their grimoire. This stuff is so cool and arcane that it really does feel like a miracle that any of it is found.
This came across my feed and I really enjoyed it. You do a great job explaining complex mechanics in a way that's easy to understand and easy to listen to. Nice video 👍
I don't think I've ever actually laughed at a glitch in a game but the fact that you can just "nope" that final cut scene and keep the Master Sword was incredible 😂
Yo, I loved seeing good ol' Ship of Harkinian in this video! It's definitely the best way to play Ocarina of Time, in my opinion. Want classic vanilla OoT with N64 aesthetics? A version with tons of QoL changes? A healthy mix of the two? A version that assists with glitches and allows for modding? It has *everything*. Great content, as usual! I love hearing the "why" behind why my favorite games bug out.
The oddesy of hyrule had a bunch listed in 1999, crooked cartridge, swordless link, escaping forest without sword or shield, and the infinite skulltula near the castle
"Link can finally live out his childhood in peace" trapped forever in the Temple of Time as he never properly opened the door of time, which is a solid wall from inside the sword chamber. Poor kid can't catch a break...
This is a fantastic video! I've been playing a bunch of Ocarina of Time randomizers and have needed to learn some of the easier glitches, such as equip swap, ISG, mega flip, etc. and this is a really nice overview to learn even more little tricks!
It's amazing how close to some of the routes for speed runs this is. Good video and I hadn't realized the OOT ports had came along so far as I hadn't dug into them much yet. I guess I know what I'm setting up on my Steam Deck later tonight at some point.
Really good video! As someone who is a big fan of OOT, there is some stuff in here that even i didn't know about. Really excited for the majora's mask video when that comes out.
This is a really cool video, i love Oot and MM speedruns/randomizers but i was always lazy to investigate/practice glitches but this video really simplifies them and makes it easy and fun to learn them while doing your own "speedrun", so cool.
what an incredible very well explained gltiches to the game, I'm a dummy when it comes to coding and understanding how all these work but even i could follow, huge thumbs up!
Nice ending there since I feel the Majora's Mask is the game's sequel but how to deal with the strategy and timer on how to progress to finish it I never learned online for 3DS. I still love this game though. Good glitches and to show SpongeBob in there as well! 😊
No, its a framerate issue, not a texture quality issue. I need a version of the game that allows for decoupling the framerate of the visuals from the framerate of logic (which needs to stay at 20fps for glitches to behave the same) Ship of Harkinian handles it this way and its brilliant
@@PhobiaSoft The fact that the PC port is perfectly faithful to the original game's logic is really awesome honestly! Even the 3ds port didn't go this far considering they did keep a lot of the original glitches on purpose from what I've heard.
16:28 there’s a very precise jump you can make there, it’s definitely possible to cross the fire gaps without slingshot or explosives. It’s very hard, and really sucks to do with deku shield since it’s easy to lose here. Also, in DC I’m surprised you didn’t mention ground jump. Super easy way to skip the first half of DC.
Yeah it's been done in glitchless runs that skip slingshot for years. There's some decent setups for it if you don't want to eyeball it like top glitchless runners do.
While watching the whole video I couldn't stop thinking how good this version of the game looks , every other 'hd' version of a game all look like asset flips rely way too much on lighting but this being the original textures and models with just HD graphics looks so much better
For those following at home. @4:42 If you cant get the roll under the kid to work, there is a sillier approach. there is a small gap in the collision on the left hand wall. move slowly with the kokiri moving through the wall and eventually he will fall into the abyss. Easier to execute, but does take a little longer
If you do the cuckoo glitch for the well, when you stand next to the sign and then turn link to the left 15 degrees, your backflip will put you at the entrance of the door so you don’t have to worry about swimming
one of the interesting glitches in ocarina of time, specifically the 3ds version, is Dark Link. he's actually the most infamous yet perfect example of a buggy mess in the 3ds version, cuz if you compare the 64 version's fight to the 3ds there's a few differences when fighting with only the master sword. 64's Dark Link's effectively literally perfect frame-wise. he actually counters jump attacks and thrusts like he's supposed to. OOT 64's Dark Link also has a glitch known as a "Dark Link Spin attack" Glitch, which's very obscure. normally Dark Link will never do a Spin attack and is not supposed to, but from what I recall, I think it was charged spin+spamming spin attack after, and he'll eventually do it. this may need deku nut and/or arrows. as for 3ds Dark Link, it was stated and is actually true that 3ds Dark Link suffers from the frames of the 3ds, which's why mashing's easier, but there's actually some more glaring issues with him, which you can see using the master sword only. 1. he's very buggy, you'll first see it when you spam thrust attacks, when he's full color he will never counter the thrust attack if multiple thrusts happen in a short time frame and he dodges a 2nd one. multi-thrusts can go through his defense easily right after he dodges the first 2. the most glaring example of buggy and glitchy is 3ds Dark Link's Jump Attack counter. in the 3ds version Dark Link cannot and will never counter Link's Jump attack, he instead Jumps Sideways and Upwards, no counter at all. the only way he will ever counter Link's jump attack in this glitchy/buggy state is if you force him into a wall with Jump attacks. very specifically, both Link+Dark Link's models must overlap as you spam Jump attacks against the wall, only then does 3ds Dark Link do a counter Jump attack.
There's another method to skip Ganon's barrier that doesn't need bombs. Enter the spirit trial, push the nearest armos statue to the wall near the door, then pull it a couple times towards the door. From there simply jump slash between the two and you'll be in the main room, and it works as child too. The textures don't load though so you have to use the spirit trial and the barrier beams to navigate into the tower loading zone. There's a setup to get in there consistently but even without that it's fairly easy.
In wonder, if at any point in history, their existed a gamer so set in their ways, so stubborn, so patient, that this was how their first playthrough of the game was like.
The bottom of the well unloaded actor glitch can actually be done after you have unlocked the door, you don't have to worry if you unlock the door and attempt again.
For the carpenter, you can get the eyedrops from frozen king zora if you have the weird cucco (or any trade sequence item for adult). It's technically closer to a completed sword and the trick requires 0 skill. Maybe it's just on N64. Well I thought my last run where I beat the adult dungeons in a near reverse order, sequence breaking my way into the Spirit and Shadow Temples was going to be my perfect run, but now I guess I gotta play through again and ignore the fire and water temples Thank you for your wisdom
I play OOT almost daily and i know all of these glitches, randomizers are the best thing to happen to OOT (besides PC Port) and it keeps me playing my favourite game forever.
I am wondering what happens when you bomb hover onto the bridge you see on the right at 40:50min. Will this trigger the loading zone from the castle escape after defeating ganondorf? Since I can’t pull off bomb hovering it would be so cool if you can showcase it!
If you call traveling to another land to stop a falling moon in three days as living in peace, then yah. I guess Link is able to live out his childhood in peace. I bet there is going to be another video like this one for Majora's Mask, right?
You can actually pass the fire room in dodongos cavern without the slingshot, just takes precise ledge grabs through the room. But bombchu flip backwards is way cooler
There's a fair bit of overlap when it comes to glitches, but also a lot of differences. One of the most notable is that bomb hovering is significantly easier in MM.
Ngl your voice and cadence are extremely calming and I listen to this when I need help falling asleep. Thanks for the unintentional ASMR and a new way of knowing my favorite game of all time!
Seriously, I've never seen OoT look this good. I'd love to know which version it is. Based on the copyright date, I'm assuming the GC version is Dolphin?
I find it odd that you didn’t mention Power Crouch Stab. Speeds up Ganondorf fight and is applicable for ISG. Also, oddly enough, you can actually damage Ganon with nuts, though using the Master Sword for the whole fight is faster because it’ll do two damage with regular swings or four damage with jump attack/PCS (which is normal for it, but all other attacks do only one damage to Ganon)
Power Crouch Stab being a glitch or an intended mechanic is sort of arguable either way, and is so well known by vanilla players, I didn't think it was necessary
Awesome video Phobia! Question though, what did you use to get those neat, updated graphics? Can it be done with the N64 version or does it require Ship of Harkinan?
the actors glitch works for me even if the door is unlocked. i dont think it's necessary to save before that cause when i mess up i just go back through the crawlspace
16:12 You can skip past both of the fire pillar rooms with *very* precise jumps. ua-cam.com/video/dcPSgv68INw/v-deo.html That said for the sake of the video's pacing, teaching the mega flip just to yoink the bomb bag is worth it and ultimately you save more time/do a better self-taught speedrun by doing so. Very fun video, always appreciate Ocarina of Time for its glitches that let you beat the game basically however you want.
Also the setup he used here can be done slightly differently so that you don't even need a sword, which is great for both deku stick and itemless forest escape methods.
44:14 is really hilarious to me. Like did the devs actually program Ganon's cutscene swing to have a hitbox? Like why don't they just add a trigger to remove the master sword from your inventory or something? I just find this hilarious.
UPDATE: Though I wouldn't recommend it unless absolutely necessary, skipping the fire platform in Dodongo's Cavern without the Slingshot is technically possible: ua-cam.com/video/dcPSgv68INw/v-deo.html

The textures are from a pack called OOT Reloaded. There's a version for Ship and a version for emulators too!
The Glitch Gremlin was sure busy with this game.
Do twilight princess one day plisss
the actors glitch works for me even if the door is unlocked. i dont think it's necessary to save before that cause when i mess up i just go back through the crawlspace
You can technically still do it with an unlocked door, the timing is just much tighter
16:12 You can skip past both of the fire pillar rooms with *very* precise jumps. ua-cam.com/video/dcPSgv68INw/v-deo.html
That said for the sake of the video's pacing, teaching the mega flip just to yoink the bomb bag is worth it and ultimately you save more time/do a better self-taught speedrun by doing so. Very fun video, always appreciate Ocarina of Time for its glitches that let you beat the game basically however you want.
Wow, nice find!
You show Kaepora Gaebora some respect!!
My friends and I used another glitch when we were kids, changing items to be bottles LOL
DoT skip has an easier set-up now, it uses lunge storage
Also the setup he used here can be done slightly differently so that you don't even need a sword, which is great for both deku stick and itemless forest escape methods.

your a goat. thank you for the video!
20:10 I can't believe they would do Metroid's infinite bomb jump in Zelda.
44:14 is really hilarious to me. Like did the devs actually program Ganon's cutscene swing to have a hitbox? Like why don't they just add a trigger to remove the master sword from your inventory or something? I just find this hilarious.
