    I need a nice solid place to land the anchor so the tinny doesn't drift. Just above my ear and slightly towards the the back of my head should do it.

      Appreciate the support Craig. Man I don’t know about that, the camera makes the viz look a lot better in this video. Day 1 I’d say a hazy 4m and day 2 a green 3m tops lol

      Fair enough mate, I think that is pretty similar to what I had in the same spot. I tried around Peel, but the vis was less than a meter there. I'm still trying to get my first blue bone and you seem to find a few of them in the bay. I'll probably see you out there sometime while I'm trying to find one 😅

      @@danyoungy This is just my opinion, and i'm not telling you what to do, you do whatever you like. But try not to spearfish Flatties, there whole existence is to camouflage to the bottom, They will be sitting there still and you can swim over them nearly grabbing them with your hand. If you want Flatties flick a rod it takes work sure, but they sitting ducks bro, hurts to watch. My only criticism. I don't know if you did it this video, i can't remember. But i remember watching a few others where thats happened. Please, it's just my opinion, you do you.

      @danyoungy  11 місяців тому

      @@jamesrobertson8941 yeah I feel what you’re saying. I leave a lot of flatties. Although you still need to spot them & have to be careful you don’t get spotted and spook them , then you need to land the shot. Yes it’s pretty easy when you get practice at it but I don’t see anything wrong with selectively taking a few in the 40-50cm range, sometimes. I appreciate your thoughts though mate

    Great vid mate, Jacko put me onto your channel 👌. I'm actually heading up that way in the morning with the mrs to check out where to camp in the future. We were going to look at kooringal to see if theres any spots there. Is that a paid or free spot?

    • @danyoungy
      @danyoungy  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey mate , I camped up a bit further from kooringal, just up past the big sand hills. Should be plenty of spots. I just booked/paid online. Pretty easy to find if ya search south west Moreton camping you’ll find where to go. Let me know how ya go

    Last time I cooked like that I undercooked it and I was devastated. I count really cook it more because i had taken the skin off. I think it was due to just having come out of the cooler, ice cold, threw me off. I’m a Tim foil guy now

      Ahhhh bummer mate! yeah I’ve always done tin foil as well. It’s definitely worth trying again on the coals i reckon, I’ll be doing it again & will try and nail the cooking time. I really enjoyed the fire/Smokey taste..

      @@danyoungy oh, it’s going to be a while yet mate - it’s deepest darkest winter here at the moment - it’s currently -2 degrees C with 60mph winds! To tell the truth, the boat hasn’t even been built up yet, the engine arrived at the boat yard last week, the boat itself is currently at the trailer factory, they’ve built a custom trailer, it’s being taken up to the boat yard in a couple of weeks to be put together. It’s actually a boat you might know, it’s a Smartwave 4200, made in NZ, I know a few places in Australia sell them. It’s a little centre console thing, Suzuki 50hp on the back. Nothing massive, but should be fun. I can’t see myself getting out on it before April to be honest, far too cold till then - I’ll do some videos over the summer - they won’t be as good as yours, but still looking forward to it 😅 Glad to hear the head is okay!

    Hey mate do you have any issues getting your tinny over to moreton island? or do you pick your days carefully

    • @danyoungy
      @danyoungy  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey man, if I’m going to head straight across the bay from mainland to Moreton, definitely look to pick good days with light winds. On this trip there was actually a bit of a SE , I went from Cleveland to Peel, straight across to Straddy, followed straddy all the way up to the top then cut across to south Moreton and worked my way up to where I camped. If you’re not in a hurry and want to get across without crossing and big sections of water it’s a great way to do it!

      @metsmokers1354 11 місяців тому

      @@danyoungy awesome thanks man, im looking at buying a boat or tinny to get to moreton for day trips but i live around redcliffe, what size boat and hp would you recommend for going from redcliffe to moreton?

    • @danyoungy
      @danyoungy  11 місяців тому +1

      @@metsmokers1354 Also in the cooler parts of the year it’s a lot easier to go across with the light westerelys and so many glass out days… in summer just gotta watch out for those afternoon storms. Depends on your budget a lot & also how many people on board. I have a 4.2m with a 30hp and wouldn’t go any smaller for trips across to Moreton (even though it
      Would be doable) Something around 4.5-4.6m with 40-50hp I reckon would be the ideal boat for going over there regularly but a bit smaller like mine definitely is more then capable on a good day !
