- The Kern River is still in flood conditions and unfishable. Luckily there are plenty of creeks that are clear enough to fish and they are filled with native Kern River Rainbows; a species endemic to California and only found in the Kern River Watershed.

I enjoy your videos. I know that place. I used to camp there when it was still ok to do so. In fact I camp there for many years. It looks awful now. The fires last summer when through there. The heavy rains and snow last winter caused erosion. It’s sad to see it like that.
Thanks! And yeah, it is sad. There's a lot of saplings coming up and hopefully we get enough rain for them to get established this next spring. Maybe in 10 years, it'll be nice and cool again.
Lol! I hooked a baby Duck that took a parachute Adams on a lake. The mom duck was attacking me while I got it off the hook. ( barbless ) Yeah Those Kern River native bows are beauties! Glad you found some fly water.
😂 I bet that was a sight! Water is clearing up nicely and only getting better from here on out. We're headed to some alpine areas in a week and I'm really looking forward to that.

Pretty quick bites!! Any keeper size? Haven't had fried trout in a long time. Well fresh ones that weren't in the refrigerator section of the store!😂😂😂
We caught 3 keeper sized fish maybe 10-11 inches. I think fishing is going to get a lot better in the next few weeks.

There are a few creeks you can hit up. This is up above Limestone campground/Sherman Pass area.
