Well said, work from 15 years old to 63 years old and get sod all because you had the sense to pay into a private pension that takes your earnings in retirement to just over the limit and Starmer says you don't need the winter fuel payment. Also why has the state pension been renamed as a BENEFIT which it isn't.
If the pension is classed as a benefit then why is it never on a list of benefits you can claim. I also worked from 15 to 65 paid into a private pension so I am just over the limit to claim anything.
My 70 year old partner got hers. For the first time I heard her swear. Starmer you have created hatred from pensioners, their families and friends you could never imagine. You are toast at the next General Election.
Starmer and his henchmen have terrified the very people whose contributions built what we have today, for the benefit of 3rd world rejects to scrounge off.
It'll only get worse. The money is broken, yet they'll tax you more and end up printing more (for themselves). It's unsustainable and I would recommend taking other measures and not relying on the government to help you. They won't. 😢
Globalism killed our industries and poor management and militant trade unions made globalism a thing. No longer could supplies of a particular resource be cut off with strike action. But it got to the point where due to health and safety, EU regulations etc it became too expensive to do a lot of the work here. So they outsourced it to China etc.
My age 72yr old I worked long hours for 50yr years on low pay on building sites retired now because I worked for so long I get less of a government pension than someone who couldn't be bothered to get off their arse and get a job they get the rest made up on benefits this is a lesson for the younger generation don't bother working
With respect, whether you lose sleep or not isn't, in my opinion, the point. The point is that your income will be £300.00. less than it was last year. Why? Reeves claimed the cancellation of WFA would save the country £1.4Billion. No it won't. Because of the increase in Pension Credit claims it is now estimated that the WFA saving will be c£700Million, about half. And how much is the Pension Credit advertising going to cost? So, exposing pensioners to "issues" this winter is likely to save less than c£700Million - and, given the plethora of claims now "flooding in" it is estimated it'll take four years to process them. In the meantime - dare I say it? Of course I dare. Keeping ILLEGAL migrants comfortable is costing £2.92BILLION per annum AND RISING. Oh, one final thing. Don't forget the Labour party carried out an impact assessment in 2017. That concluded c4,000 pensioners would die as a result of cancelling the WFA. So it's fair to assume that that number will die this winter as a result of the cancellation.
It's the erosion of our pensions and welfare of the older generation who are unable to speak for themselves that matters, not whether a particular individual will miss £300 or not. Unity against being ignored by the elected politicians is paramount.
😄Great video its absolutely ludicrous, work hard and get chucked on the scrap heap.I am on my second battle with cancer and we do not qualify.Myself and my wife have worked really hard over the years and yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a country we live in .
Starmer came to Scotland to campaign. He showed up with the multi-millionaire Anas Sarwar & held PR shoot at the business premises of the billionaire Labour Lord Willie Haughy. What makes you think Liebour give a shit for the working class?!
My dad got this too 😢 what a waste of paper. Maybe your supposed to use it as a fire lighter?! Time to turn off the heating in parliament, stop their subsidised bars, restaurants taxis and they need a paycut!
And they wonder why people want to stay at home instead of working ...At least we have tens of thousands of future doctors, and surgeons turning up on our shores on a daily basis to look after our health...😂😂😂😂
@@waynekerrr9027 no British wants to work shitty jobs for minimum wage which is why the government pretends it's opposed it illegal boat immigration. Big business wants these cheap workers.
People have bene doing that for decades. That's not where the money is going. The whole migrant thing is being pushed by the media to turn away our attention to the farcical wars we are funding and partaking in. The media won't cover it, but we are spending a ton for Israel. Spy missions, missile defence, navy missions. Funny thing is, the wars that we don't support as a people but are partaking in and funding creates most of the people turning up here. If we want to stop those, we need to create less refugees in the world. That military budget should be spent for UK, not for Israel and Ukraine. On our navy to blockade our shores.
Yes 68, feeling frail with various health problems, worked till 67. Do they really expect us to go back to work now just so we can keep our foreign friends in 5 star luxury.
Yes, I got this letter too. Don't you just love the sentence, "We are committed to the Equality Act 2010 and treating people fairly? " What's fair about a relative of mine and his wife living on benefits income from age 22 and 23 even though they had no kids and getting top up incomes galore while, in spite of disability, I worked and raised two alone after being widowed and got nothing and now they are still better off than I am. They own a house and a house boat. I'm still paying for housing. Still I'm proud to know I paid for all I own. It's not much, but it was bought with money I earned. I can always burn the furniture if necessasry!
Politicos always court the votes of those they can bribe with other people's income and Labour are the prime example. I still have a press cutting from when they were last in power. Under pressure, they were obliged to admit supplying 200,000 social housing units for immigration use. Fast forward to their approach to the current situation....."!!!!
Can't even say I can burn items to keep house warm since I now live in a smokeless area and the local housing association has removed almost the fireplaces and plastered the walls to hide them. During the strikes in 70's when the electricity was more off than on due to power cuts I was a brand new wife my grandparents lived in a croft in the highlands so cooking on an open fire wasn't too much of a challenge for me as she had taught me to cook both on open fire and on 're ancient black lead range so soups, stews, even bread could be made for family. The houses all had one coal fire in living room and master bedroom also living room had a back boiler that heated up the water for bathed etc. This time round no fireplaces so no access, heat, hot water or ability to cook. Hope that Starmer, Reeves and co are warm in their toasty hot houses you know the one they are actually living in and the second one where the heating is on constantly just to keep the house from feeling damp. Pensioners will remember this every single time there is an election labour has ended its own exsistance. And yes between us my husband and I have worked 95years paying tax my neighbour s in our flatters block of 6 homes 3 are single parents who have never worked since leaving school, one lovely are working couple from Philippines both nurses who have worked in our hospital set up for past 9 years, one asylum seeker who only arrived in the kingdom's three months ago. Two households will not receive the winter fuel allowance guess who. Ourselves as pensioners and the nurses that's right the only houses not getting help are the two who have actually paid taxes for years.
It's all screwed up this country. I think I will send my letter to my local MP and say thanks for nothing. I wrote to him when this was first mentioned (first labour MP we've ever had in my constituency and the last no doubt) All I got from him was the computerised response all labour MPs are saying, not even a personal greeting. Waste of space the lot of them.
I had a similar experience. Standard "corporate" response. In fact, when she was the candidate I emailed a couple of questions about stuff that Labour had been talking about in the election campaign. Seeking clarity. No response.
Shame the Government couldnt have managed to get a letter out to all the WASPI women who were made to wait a further 7 years for the pensions, even though they had a social contract to receive them. Same old - promise everything deliver nothing...
What an utter waste of money sending out letters. If you retired after April 2016 you will not be entitled to claim Pension Credit as the new basic State Pension was deliberately set at a few pounds over the eligibility threshold. To be entitled to PC your pension income must be £218.15 a week or less. Good luck with living a comfortable life on that paltry amount. Why shouldn’t pensioners be helped to live their final years without the constant worry that everything is increasing in price and they have to go without the basics? The fact is that that pensions in the UK are the lowest in Europe. Our most elderly were left out of the new rate and they have around £50 per week less. If there are concessions to be had, as listed, then they should be given them automatically.
And we wonder why illegal immigrants make such an effort to get here to a country they hate. How to be financially better off by not working ? EU countries only support them at Subsistence level- do the same and the boats will stop immediately. 5 years and a British Citizen (NO Duel Passports) before making any claims and no vote in Politics for 10 years of Tax Paying Employment,
Means testing...work hard, be financially disciplined year after year whilst your neighbors piss their $ away, then you end up paying that savings for essentials whilst your neighbors grin when they receive their winter fuel payment. Be sure to keep your house in good condition for the next inhabitants who will receive government grants to "buy" your home when you can no longer live there. Stay healthy!
It infuriates me. So unfair that some people have holidays abroad, go out, smoke and drink, and those of us who have had to be careful all our adult lives are penalised for our frugality.
Why do I suspect that the degree and number of questions posed for "means testing" in this situation overwhelm any for those claiming benefits from the contributors to the nation's taxes.
It's not about those entitled to Pension Credit versus those 'not' entitled. It's about Reeves not having the guts and principle to TAX THE RICH. A 1% tax rise on the richest `% if families in Britain will produce £28bn annually. Enough to fill the so-called 'black hole' with £6bn to spare.
Unfortunately pensioners dont get free gifts like the priminster. Plus we have worked hard all our life to now be treated as second class citizens. The rubber boat boys Lord Ali,s friends get what we should have received

The biggest kick in the goolies is, if you don't work , Job Seekers Allowance , ESA etc you get the payment , so don't do a days work and you get Winter Fuel Allowance, so to conclude this was a political punishment to pensioners because we don't vote for the corrupt Labour Party.
I know a couple who have lived on benefits for most of their lives. They’ll get THEIR fuel allowance. They have 4 Labrador dogs, they paid £5,000 for each pedigree puppy, and they run two cars! I have worked so I’m not eligible for the fuel payment and I can barely afford the food and vet bills to keep one cat.
My husband is 70 he did 22 years in the army loosing his hearing to blast damage in the Falklands then did a further 20 + years in another job retiring in 2020 for the past 3 years fighting cancer. Because he gets state and military pension he gets taxed now he gets too much “pension “ to get pension credit etc so no more heating allowance either! So well done labour for taking us all for mugs hope you can sleep at night !,,,,,
Have you asked for a benefits review at your local council? or Citizens Advice or check out Age UK? you may also recive help from a forces charity? They may suggest Attendance Allowance. How much has it cost to send out letters telling people they are no longer entitled to the fuel allowance. Only pensioners are being mentioned but when you see the list of benefits that entitle you to the fuel allowance out of work low income workers and families are still eligible for the fuel allowance
true have a neighbour off work with mental problems last week picked his new electric car up just had his charging point put in yesterday. he is getting the winter fuel allowance with him not being a pensioner
Jan, you're the first to mention the postage cost, which WE are paying of course. Rough calculation by me last week...12 million pensioners X 75p per letter = £9 million. Wow! That's just one letter. So wasteful.
Seems to be iff you got up at 5-30 am to go work for 56 years you are entitled to sod all for state pension and iff you were on benefits all your working life you get everything.
Yep I've worked from 15 and still having to work at 69, 70 in January. Can't afford to put any heating on. It's a cold house not a home anymore. I'd like to shove my letter where the sun dont shine. Starmer you've a lot to answer for
Same here got my letter on Monday as if I didn’t already know it’s a bit like rubbing salt in the wounds & patronising to boot. I wonder how much it’s cost to send all these letters out also there are agencies etc all round the country informing helping people claim PC that are entitled but didn’t know or haven’t applied. The form to claim has got 247 questions! If there’s a fair number who apply successfully it’s probably going to cost DWP plus the letters sent out more so they won’t be making much of a saving.
Apparently there's going to be a " lottery" where some lucky pensioners will win a heated bus trip to Chequers this Christmas so as they can look through the windows of the master living room so as they can observe the Starmer clan resplendent in freebie finery ( allegedly) opening their Christmas presents around a large open fire ( they have radiators as well, I know because I've personally been there) and then getting seated to indulge in their sumptuous dinner with every conceivable trimmings and fine wines and liquor......they will then be ushered back to the coach by early released prisoners dressed as Elves.....good luck. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
So have we learned from this! How many will continue to support Labour despite their blatant attempt to reduce the elderly population. The younger generations and work shy see us as a burden, conveniently forgetting the dues we paid in all our lives currently support them. Then we have the wealthy I’m all right Jack pensioners who don’t need the wfa think it’s ok to pull it! Let’s face it, pensioners in this country are only one step up from the homeless and compared with the illegal migrant, or welcome immigrant as our left wing friends would call them, even though they don’t want to live with them, we are indeed an endangered species. I despised the Tory government under Sunak but words fail me as to the utter contempt I feel for Starmer and his cronies. How long can this country tolerate a dictatorship?
Where is the UK state pension in the financial league of pensions paid across the Continent? I suspect that it's one of the least generous. Par for the course for a country that was left virtually bankrupt and debt-ridden after stepping up to fight European and Far Eastern tyranny in WW2.
@@songsmith31a you can google it. Out of 30 European countries we come around middle at 15 but to put into context, Spain pay their pensioners around £2500 pm compared to our £1kish.
@@paultaylor6029 Thank you. I thought it would be less than impressive! To be so far down the table is a poor reflection on how our governments view their own population's entitlement to a properly secure retirement in one of the most comprehensively taxed countries in the world.
I've worked hard all my life, worked long hours to support my family to give them a good chance in life, never been out of work or claimed any benefits, I retired early as my private pension & savings allowed me to, I've paid N.I for 45 years, I'm 66 next April and due my state pension found out I'm not allowed a full state pension due to not paying N.I for my last 6 years unless I top it up for every year I've missed. Did you know that the State Pension (our money we paid in) is now classed as a benefit 😡
Add up how many years of NI contributions you have. My partner was missing the last 6 years but had a total of 42 years paid NI already. He received £202.00 state pension, only reduced as he has a private pension which meant he had opted out of SERPS years ago.
I had a relative that was on pension credit. They received a questionnaire from the DWP with wording suggesting that they may be entitled to additional credit. Upon returning the questionnaire they were informed that their declared savings will reduce their entitlement. Moral of the story. Don't lie but dont declare by responding. If DWP want to know let them work hard to find out themselves. Just like you've worked hard.
if your Savings are over the limit why not Spend some 😂 my Sister her husband was told he would be intitle to saving Credit which is lower the guaranteed credit 💞they also told him if he spends some of his savings keeps reciepts to prove and his savings which was a inheritance and it was brought down to the excepted amount then he would be able to claim full credit i belive this is what they did brought stuff they needed to lower his savings there for bringing him in to the pension crwdit
Yes I had my letter last week. But I thought well stuff them they should all be ashamed , that’s all MPs they all receive the WFA not just labour MPs , I haven’t heard any of them saying they have given it back and pay their own bills.
I never used to think like this (I’m 72 now) but I am starting to think that we, the ordinary wonderful public, should withdraw from areas of the economy where we possibly can. Use less and pay out less just keep the essentials where you can. I know it’s miserable but as the economy relies so heavily on people spending rather than manufacturing it does seem a way of getting to these dreadful people in power (whatever party, labour or tory) that enough is enough. People power!
To add salt into the wounds, I got mine too and it looks like everyone will get it except those of us that worked, put in a private pension and /or saved so we could live better in retirement and not have to ask for hand outs.. I got a letter from the Govt dept and the DWP, it must have cost millions to send these out to everyone..
Hah! Got my letter the other day. The first payment I would have had - but I am luckier than most (for the time being - don't know what will happen if I survive the next year with things as they are rapidly going down hill as the grifters that we have at the top keep on thieving), so happily let it go to someone who really needs it and not those greedy power hungry maniacs.
Got my letter today to say I won't be getting anything, because I worked hard for 50 years, this must be the only country in the world where the workshy come first, there's something the government won't be getting, my vote.
I'm seventy four, left school at fifteen and worked, and paid into the system, till i retired eight years ago. I live alone so i like many others, struggle to make ends meet. The heating allowance i get is £150 which does help a bit , I'm not complaining but it is not a large amount when energy costs are so high now, and it's got to help for at least four months of winter heating. I agree with this gentleman, is it worth working all your life paying into the system in the hope of being able to keep yourself warm and well fed when your older and frailer and in many cases like myself alone. I have my little cat to look after and i love her, she keeps me going, but there is not much else to go on for.
I totally agree with you, hadn’t thought of that. My dad if he was still with us would be one of those old soldiers walking past the cenotaph, he was proud to be in the paratroop regiment joined up in 1943 aged just 16 ..
Got ours too. Husband has lung disease. We are going to bed at 4, and turning the heating off. Even if we do not switch the gas or electric on at all, the standing charges are almost £40 per week.
My brothers and sisters of senior age Starmer has put us all in the same boat . If we sail that boat from France and arrive in the UK we will get everything paid for by the government. Many a true word spoken in jest eh !
Yes, that is my understanding as well... It states that, if you receive ONE of those benefits listed, then you will receive the payment.... So, by definition, if you don't receive any one of those listed, then... Tough luck..! But I agree, it does NOT actually state that you will NOT get it... My new Labour MP Becky Gittins also tied the partyline and voted for the cut despite me writing to her to warn her we'd know what she voted for. But she did it to keep her cushy job and I later received the party official reply. They make me sick. This is democracy?
My 83 year old husband got his today. I’ve had mine. We worked and saved for our old age. We just had to buy a new gas boiler. Our roof is leaking. You need savings to keep your home repaired and to buy essentials. The way prices are going up for food, energy bills, Council tax. How can you pay without savings? The state pension doesn’t cover it all. I was raised to work and pay my way. My husband didn’t retire till 69. We raised our children to work and not rely on handouts. Others who haven’t contributed seem to be benefiting more.

They will. It's called NO SHAME

@@waynekerrr9027 no British wants to work shitty jobs for minimum wage which is why the government pretends it's opposed it illegal boat immigration. Big business wants these cheap workers.
There's a global shortage of medical staff, so France would never let them leave.

I got my letter today and it really made me feel valued by our wonderful new Government NOT!!!
Never mind im in the same boat at 68, I suppose we should be glad we are helping keep the hotels nice and warm this winter.
Yes we are
Yes 68, feeling frail with various health problems, worked till 67. Do they really expect us to go back to work now just so we can keep our foreign friends in 5 star luxury.
He doesn't give a toss. As long as he can continue with his snout in the rather large trough!
My blood is boiling 😤
Be careful people are in prison for expressing dissent about migrant hotel dwellers .
Sorry
It's an utter disgrace 🤬
Sorry to hear that is terrible.
Politicos always court the votes of those they can bribe with other people's

when they were last in power. Under pressure, they were obliged to admit
supplying 200,000 social housing units for immigration use. Fast forward
to their approach to the current situation....."!!!!
Cheers Steve.
I had a similar experience. Standard "corporate" response. In fact, when she was the candidate I emailed a couple of questions about stuff that Labour had been talking about in the election campaign. Seeking clarity. No response.
Hah...no doubt, like their discredited leader Harmer Starmer "They'd rather be in Davos"!

OR ANY GOVERNMENT FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS
It's 1000s a week now.

Well said right on the nail.

And we wonder why illegal immigrants make such an effort to get here to a country they hate. How to be financially better off by not working ? EU countries only support them at Subsistence level- do the same and the boats will stop immediately. 5 years and a British Citizen (NO Duel Passports) before making any claims and no vote in Politics for 10 years of Tax Paying Employment,
Oh no, not burning mine. It'g going to Reeves and Starmer, annotated with my very polite view of their administration.

Get money under mattress and buy gold coins= IM SKINT
It infuriates me. So unfair that some people have holidays abroad, go out, smoke and drink, and those of us who have had to be careful all our adult lives are penalised for our frugality.
Why do I suspect that the degree and number of questions posed for "means
testing" in this situation overwhelm any for those claiming benefits from the
contributors to the nation's taxes.

How much has it cost to send out letters telling people they are no longer entitled to the fuel allowance. Only pensioners are being mentioned but when you see the list of benefits that entitle you to the fuel allowance out of work low income workers and families are still eligible for the fuel allowance
Quite shocking isnt it Jan.

I never used to think like this (I’m 72 now) but I am starting to think that we, the ordinary wonderful public, should withdraw from areas of the economy where we possibly can. Use less and pay out less just keep the essentials where you can. My 83 year old husband got his today. I’ve had mine. We worked and saved for our old age. We just had to buy a new gas boiler. Our roof is leaking. Tbh we don't need it, but it's sad/ a great shame that many do.
I got mine yesterday. If you are receiving full new state pension you are getting around £4 a week to much to qualify for any pension credit like me !
Very well rigged wasn't it.

Spot on.
We’re in an all electric retirement flat, can’t even light the fire with it!
I totally agree, I paid into a work place pension all my working g life so I pay my own way for everything, some of my colleagues opted out of the pension scheme and kept all their wages, now they’ll be getting pension credit. Luckily I’m proud enough to be glad I don’t need help, I don’t want hand outs
Still miss the money though
They send out the letters to relieve their consciouses making out they are doing a favour for the worse off pensioners when in fact causing deprivation amongst the elderly this is a wicked act of insanity.
That is our new uncaring goverment.

They have took the winter fuel off pensioners but if you are on benefits they get 150 pounds towards the winter fuel it makes me bloody sick
The new caring goverment.

Bear in mind if you retired to the Costa Del Crime, under EU Rules the British MisGovernment still has to pa y winter fuel allowance under arrangements made for Post Brexit.
