Sends shivers down my spine every time I am privileged to listen to it. What can I say ... PT are one of those rare bands that come along and for the minority who are prepared to listen to good music, they stand out like a pillar of light.
This is such a great song, it captures really well that sick feeling of being rejected by someone you have feelings for. Rejection or not being wanted has to be the worst feeling you can have. No one on the planet is worth more than your own peace within yourself, protect it at all times.
@DasBurka It's a Dutch radiostation called Arrow Classic Rock. Every tuesday evening they air a 2 hour show containing just prog rock, and every night, between 12 pm and 6 am, they air a combination of common rock and obscure songs, such as PT's Arriving Somewhere But Not Here. Others include Genesis, Yes, Supertramp, Arena, King Crimson, Dream Theatre, Camel, Van der Graaf Generator, UK, Kayak, Focus, Supersister, Marillion, Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, etc.
Porcupine Tree is a wonderfully dark exponent of progrock. It's slightly less raw than Dream Theatre, with more room for synth and strings. I like that a lot. I recently (last week!) discovered their work, after having heard of the band through my local classic rock radiostation. I find it equally good as Genesis and Yes, which I have admired for a long time.
Sometimes few words together are capable of making as fly.. On a dream or somewhere else. It's just so many pictures that this song is carrying out... ;)
We've all been there... I wonder how much this song was influenced by the track "Leb' Wohl" by Neu!, since Signify was based on "Hallogallo" by that band.
@apocalist420 Ofc (: but thanks for reminding me about it. You should check out Wilson's new solo album(if ya haven't already:D), it's pretty good aswell.
@CaptainRetardify I can kinda see where you're coming from, but I think the prog epicness on some of their other stuff would mess up the vibe of this song. Sometimes a simple, direct delivery gets the message through. But if you want complexity in this song, listen to the production. Beautifully detailed ambience.

Steven Wilson... Truly a mastermind of musical realm.
