No, these are belt driven to the gearbox. On this one it was the belt, over time it can stretch so it takes more torque from the motor to turn the Snowman. The controller reverses the polarity that engages a vertical crown gear so then it spins the Snowman after the 3rd song is complete. Replaced the belt works great now, as you saw in this video. I show the reverse polarity in action. Thanks for your comment.
@@mikecomptech yes, you are correct though belt driven things do still have drive gears, they’re usually the smallest gear closest to the motor and what the pulley from the motor attaches to. They’re the most prone to breaking aside from the belt wearing out. You can see it at 6:17 right beside your screwdriver on the left if you pause the video. When those crack it eventually loses friction on the pulley shaft and won’t move the other gears. I just replaced 2 of them in a Gemmy snowman yesterday and it runs flawlessly. You can usually tell when they crack cuz the gearboxes get significantly noisier
@@truecrazy5 The gear I was pointing at is supposed to slip on that shaft. It is there to stabilize the crown gear, it produces equal pressure on each side of the crown gear. But yes have seen many cracked drive gears specially in Gemmy toys. Thanks for your reply.
@@mikecomptech I wasn’t talking about the one connecting to the crown gear I should’ve clarified more, it’s the really small one between that double gear that’s hanging down from the head bobbing part and the micro motor. It’s hard to point out lol
@@truecrazy5 Ok I know which one you are talking about, I was lucky none of them were cracked. You have a great UA-cam channel been checking your videos. Stay tuned more vids to come.
Could be the old grease in the gearbox. Or the belt slipping in the gearbox. It's under more of a load when the snowman has to turn. Thanks for the comment.
It could be lots of things, always hard to diagnose a problem like this but one thing I have found is the motor is froze. Try pushing and pulling the snowman head up and down while pushing the start button. Thanks for the question.
@ it’s not turning on if there’s a way you can like find the snowman at the same exact problem and try to see how to fix it. I kind of hear something crumbling in the piano as well so I don’t know what that is.
Sounds like the 10 tooth drive gear is cracked on this one. I had to open mine a couple years ago but luckily was only a stuck motor issue

Snowman looks almost better “melted” great explanation of the gears
Thanks, I laugh every time I see it with those goggly eyes I stuck on there. Thank you for all your comments. Stay tuned..😃
Mine does everything except that final turn

great followup
Thanks, I had to find out how that worked internally.
As always thank you for your comments. Stay tuned...😄
Question I’m having problems trying to turn it on. It’s not turning on anymore. If you have any advice, it’s not batteries.
