Quantum is simply the most amazing synth i ever owned, alongside with my CS-80 ❤
I agree and the patches you made for it are outstanding 🙏🏻
This is a great professional synth for finishing tracks, but they did a big mistake in my opinion: they should have not put a clean analog filter because the digital filters serve that purpose but instead they should have used the PPG SSM or the Microwave 1A CEM 3389 ( both are back in production ) because they sound amazing and that is the legacy why people love vintage Waldorf.
The prove for this is the huge success of 3D Wave which is modern PPG with original SSM and what Waldorf should have done with the Quantum analog filter.
Anyway Waldorf has an opportunity to produce in the future a rack version of quantum but as analog filter the modern version of CEM 3389
Thats a good solution- to produce in the future a rack version of quantum but as analog filter the modern version of CEM 3389 👍
I have the Iridium Keyboard version, it is an amazing synth. It was not my first synth, but it is definitely such an instrument of infinite possibility; and, it is a dream synth for me. I am certain that the Quantum 2 is a dream synth also. However I also have the Moog Matriarch, Mother 32, Korg Minilouge XD(my first synth) and the new MPC X SE. So along with my VSTs: Falcon, Pigments, Zibra, Deva, Serum and others, I can make any sound I need or want to make. But when I the first synth I go to now is my Iridium, I really am in love with it and the MPC X SE.
CV control is of course possible using MIDI-to-CV modules. The 96 kHz is a good point!
Loved your review!
Question - The Quantum is known for its bright metallic sound characteristics, what would you suggest the best way to get a more warm, dirty, textured feel though sound design?
What about Quantum MK2?
Weird, right? This video was published on the channel in May 2023, five months after the MK2 release.
If so many customers were complaining about it, why put the mono analog filter in the Qmk2 as well?
Thank you very much for this review/video! I have a question, which I think you addressed to some extent in the "Quantum Platform" segment: Can a patch/program that was created on an Iridium be accurately duplicated on Quantum (or vice-versa)? I have watched and listened to many Iridium videos on UA-cam, and heard wonderful sounds... while waiting for the Quantum Mk2, I've been wondering if it will sound as good and versatile as the Iridium does - and have 61 PA keys. Thanks in advance!
Yes, you can :)
@@phable, thanks so much! Do some of the factory presets appear in both instruments?
@@hapbarb yes, the architecture allows for a seamless back and forth between both models :)
@@phable, thanks again! 😄
So do I need a special interface to use it with unbalanced cables?
I have the mark II and I don’t know if it’s the same on the Mark I, but this synth is not great for live use as the patches don’t load quick enough, so patch changing during a live performance could be an issue.
When is the new v3 firmware available for Mk1 users? I can only find 2.8.0 on the website.
I presume you know by now that 3 by now.
I’d signed up to be on the beta group.
Try and do the same for the beta 4.
@@100haymaker Thanks very much for letting me know, that's very kind of you. I've also sent an email to Waldorf to try and get on the future beta programmes.
I bought one, had great synths, but the quantum me mde me decide to sell of 7 synths, going back to just 5....this machine is amazing! Just think about, it´s just one feature, you have three scillators and they can actually be a dx7 each, and all sorts of combinations, sampler, multisample. granular and pushing that through analog filters.... fr expercienced it can also be bad...you just keep playng and finding sounds.... Grazier it gets when running for instance my waldorf M through the circuits as 4 oscillator etc. etc.
Waldorf rocks, but, I really wished they would release some affordable machines again. They always had those, the microWave, the microQ, the Blofeld... Also wished they would do software synthesizers again. I know, there has been the Streichfett, but, to be honest, that one was a bit special, and I wasn't interested in it at all.
That’s one thing I wish my iridium keys had, full cv in and out. Deeply saddened. Otherwise I love it. I would sell my Iridium for the QMK2 for sure. I wanted the aftertouch keys but I am more in love with the layout for the Quantum.
Would not buy a Quantum unless it's a MKII and even then you could get Iridium Keyboard for alot less they are great synths no doubt and I would love Quantum MkII and Iridium Keyboards would be very expensive.
Sorry this is a MkII I guess
Oops was wrong this isn't a MKII
Whatta gorgous sounding synth 😭
but what really want - is the Revox in the background ,-
