- Welcome to my game room tour for 2021!
Hi, my name is Rick. At the time of this video going live I am a 32 year old fan of table top gaming living in Bellevue, Nebraska. I have a great group of friends who I play games with on a (until 2020) semi-regular basis. My favorite games are fantasy themed, dice chucking, miniature games (ameritrash), like WarQuest, but also Euro games with mechanisms like worker placement, like Agricola. Some of my top games of all time include:

Crown of Emara
Gizmos
Dice Forge
The Bloody Inn
I also love miniature tabletop wargaming. I enjoy Warhammer Fantasy from Games Workshop, and I love designing my own games and using terrain from Miniature Building Authority, Dwarven Forge, and even WizKids WarLock tiles. I'm not big into roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder, but I have designed some of my own games with RPG elements simply because I love rolling dice.
I'm excited to show you around my game room!
Weird thought at first as a collector (I feel you), but it feels so good to sell stuff you don’t need and use the money to buy stuff you use and value. The great thing about this hobby is, that the stuff tends to keep or even increase its value.
I went from collector / hoarder to minimalist and for me personally that was awesome. But you have the space and financial capabilities to support such a collection, so if it makes you happy, keep on collecting : ) just read in another comment of yours that you only played about 30-40% of the games and no matter the space or money, we only have so much time and some games just aren’t worth our time over other games. And do we really need so many dice? The list goes on and I‘m sure you know what I‘m talking about :D
Anyway, it’s obvious from your voice and enthusiasm that this brings so much joy to you and that’s lovely to see, so you do you and keep enjoying your collection.
I totally get you. And there are times I'm like...what if I picked my 50 favorite games? But then there are times where I just enjoy the concept of owning and collecting. And like you say, if I have the means and it isn't hurting me, why not keep it up.
@@RickKoeppen if it makes you happy and you can sustain it, no Need to change anything : ) i think you could probably make a couple of thousands from stuff you‘re not using though, if you ever needed to. That‘s one great thing about this hobby, the stuff keeps its value.
Holy cow that is awesome. I am going to show my wife this video so she can see that my D&D addiction is in fact under control and maybe even trifling in comparison 🙂 Bravo on your collection.

Awesome! Was waiting for the 2021 tour. I’m sure you can’t wait for Covid to end so as to have more game nights. After all what use are the games unless there are friends to share? 👍

Beautiful. Call me paranoid but there's a dread feeling I can't stop feeling whenever I see collections like these: please tell me you have security for all this stuff smoke detectors, alarms, some app that will notify you if something weird happens at the house. This is amazing, but I want to think that at least there's some kind of insurance. Salutes from México
Haha, no worries I am the same way! Yes, everything is protected both in terms of physical damage and financial recuperation if anything happens.

A truly amazing collection. You are definitely the Ultimate Host with the Most, Rick. I love how it resembles a well stocked game store you would see between the 80's to early 2000's. I would literally pay money to spend an afternoon there just to play a single game. But which one? Which one...

Amazing...like you, I have a little gaming issue :D Sometimes I wonder if my hobby is gaming or just organizing all the stuff associated with gaming and the hobby of miniatures? A 3D printer now is pumping out plastic organization components for zombicide black plague and a 3D resin printer is pumping new additions to my hoard of unpainted minis...Oh well, it could be worse...I think...too old to change now...just keep enjoying it, buddy...Jim

I heard you say something about buying a collection at auction or something like that and was wondering how you or I would find auctions like that to buy. Is there a specific website or group for that?
Thank you! I think I was referring to the two sets of non-Kallax shelves; my dad got those for me from an auction. Unfortunately I've never been lucky enough to score any big lots from estate sales or auctions myself. That's always kinda my dream, to walk up to a garage sale and someone is selling their big collection or something haha.
A friend of mine also has a collection of board games, but you have the whole store! If you had two choose 10 games to play with friends which ones would you choose from your collection? My friends recently got me interested in playing board games and its pretty fun. I really enjoyed Chaosmos and DnD Lords of WaterDeep.
LOVE Lords of Waterdeep! The 10 I'd choose right now are Gizmos, Calimala, Crown of Emara, CO2, Agricola, WarQuest, Dice Forge, Master Builder, Mythotopia, and Castle Merchants.

Dungeon Terrain: Dwarven Forge. Buildings/Castles: Miniature Building Authority. Hills, trees, ruins, and other natural/landscape terrain: Eslo. I'm sorry, I have to list three.
Love the tour! But have you played those games? I have a lot less (like a 5%) and haven't been able to play them all.

I know it’s none of my business but what do you do for a job? How are you able to afford all this it’s incredibly impressive. I can barely afford Internet let alone thinking about attempting to buy Thousands of dollars of Dwarven forge. Can I work for you?
I work at PayPal, though I wouldn't read too much into that as far as income. I've just been fortunate in other areas of life, though it has been a great place to work.
