- We have made it back to the California coast! Due to a recent landslide, we weren’t able to drive all the way up, which is why we looped over to Pinnacles in our last video. But, we are back, and driving down to Big Sur for the very first time! This is definitely one of our favorite videos yet, and we hope you enjoy it!

WOW!!! 1. I would dine!!! 2. Amazing scenery!!! 3. The drone of the cow!!! 4. My stomach flipped again at the shot of Claire's feet on the edge of the cliff!!! I LOVE this vlog post! Ahh my family and I roadtripped to Carmel/ 17 Mile Drive around February, it’s so beautiful out there. I hope to head back and go camping in Big Sur soon :) love your videos btw, I hope to someday do van life cause I never can stay still lol🧡

I've read that Highway 1 is a nightmare of a commute because there are very few gas stations, no one sells diesel, and the gas prices are higher than high. It's nearly impossible to find lodging thats less than $100 per night especially during the busy season. It's crazy difficult to find bathrooms (mainly because the bathroom signs on the road were removed for aesthetic reasons). People are constantly pooping in the woods and whenever Big Sur residents go out to pick up the litter visitors leave they always see human feces.
I'm still gonna go there, though.
Again, a new favorite vlog! The drone shot of the cow could be a plein air painting called "Pacific Americana"- such a beautiful moment in nature. I agree with Claire that it's the best shot yet. Seems like you guys are a perfect fit for the pacific coast. Also- spinach artichoke dip should be the next thing to try, but be careful, it is addictively good!
Ahh spinach artichoke dip is amazing. We will definitely have to try making it. Love the name “pacific Americans” perhaps we’ll grab a screenshot and put it on our website with that name haha.😂

I’m from Scotland uk and my family and I did the road trip to big sur and my dear god I was so blown away by the beauty I actually cried 🤣. I must say this was by far the best trip we’ve ever been on, certainly the most fun, even with a young child in tow.....it’s given us a road trip bug and my dream is to drive along right up to Yellowstone national park 😅
Ah Big Sur truly is incredible. It’s amazing how childhood family memories stick with you your whole life. No doubt you will do the drive to Yellowstone one day!
Seeing Chad discover Artichokes was priceless. You two are so good together. Getting glasses stuck in your hair - that happens to me every time!! Enjoy every minute. I will be sad to see your van adventure come to an end but I’m sure you have much bigger adventures in store!!

I’ve slept so many times on Hwy 1 by Big Sur California
I think I missed something? There is some amazing stuff between Big Sur and Half Moon Bay! Where is all that? Artichokes are awesome and they are every where north of Monterey. The yellow flowers are Mustard. Awesome video. Beautiful coverage of the west coast! Stay safe.

It’s really tough to find spots along Highway 1. We chose to park in cities where we felt we could blend in at night. Otherwise we use the app “IOverlander”

Hi Barbara, I see what you're saying because I thought that was a bit different than other channels when I first saw their "van life" videos. Then I figured out that their channel was not just a travelogue, but an insight into their young lives as a married couple traveling to exciting places in their van!

You were so close to Castroville, The Artichoke Center of the World. Artichokes are the state vegetable of California. The yellow flowers are mustard, they were dropped by the Spanish missionaries to mark roads in Alta California. Monterey was the Spanish Capital of Alta California.
Wow super interesting! We had no idea that we were standing in a mustard field and super interesting about them being dropped by the Spanish!

That's not cool. Please don't disturb the animal with your drone. It's ok to look from afar, but please please please leave the animal alone. You guys were flying the drone feet away from the cow to capture the calf feeding, and you look so happy. Image I fly my drone in your face while you are eating.
