As a visually impaired amateur musician living in Turkey, I would like to thank you for giving importance to accessibility. I hope the accessibility improvements continue in the new version.
I have been using scoring software since the late 1990s. You would not believe how difficult it was back then. And the legacy big names are still around, with a lot of baggage in their UI and a traditionally high price. MuseScore has upended all of that. It's a dream.
As a composer and teacher there is no way to deny that Musecore has changed my life. My music gets better instantly with feedback at the push of a button instead of having to re-write and relearn and replay parts, now it's click and done. The ability to create scores and parts for my students in keys and methods that are perfect for them allows me to be a valuable teacher at a higher level. Now the comedy, and with my budget as a non-famous composer or teacher, the fact that it is free is a Godsend. And if anyone is wondering, I have been telling people this exact thing for years because it's true and I want them to partake should they want to give it a spin. And it allows me a chance to brag about the product while being grateful at the same time.
I grew up with Musescore! As a kid I loved creating scores for tv show or game soundtracks and then being able to listen to it. Musescore has undeniably played a huge role in my musical talent and to this day I benefit from it. It really brings me joy that you guys are continuing to improve in so many ways, so all I can say is keep it up! You're doing an amazing job!!
Looking forward to discovering the percussion update! Please add a playback swing setting for ternary rhythms. Interpretation of ternary music is a major element in traditional musics, Musescore really needs to offer it!
Just fantastic what you guys have created. I haven't used anything else since version 4. It's so easy and intuitive to work with the software, and the Muse sounds are formidable! What would be a great update though is a piano roll and Track volume control. Thanks very much anyway to all the team.
I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful software and that is freely available. I could never afford to buy or learn to play these instruments but through Musescore I can channel my ideas and hear them played back in realistic sounds.
Musescore is spectacular. I was keen to give it a go after being aggy with Dorico one too many times, and everything it already is far surpasses that and Sibelius for me. Just wonderful, major props to everyone.
musescore 4.2 is wonderful and incredible. what i'd wish for the future is better options for jazz, e.g. a jazz palette with the most important elements needed to score jazz and a musesounds jazz pack.
Love MuseScore! It can turn sketches and ideas into something I can apply in very short order. Trill playback is my only (minor) gripe. It sounds like a reciprocating saw.
I’m using! It’s really amazing: I only have 3 points to sugest to MuseScore: - Easiest way to write tuplets… a shortcut icon… - Record midi with click to write. The other sister with click is very good but sometimes I miss the continuous recording with click to a creative ideas and also speed the process of Input notes. - Automatic recognition to quick writing chords by a controller. Thank you for all!!!
There actually a keyboard shortcut for creating a triplet. Ctrl+[3] (Mac) or Command+[3] (Windows). I found this to be way easier than going to the menu. Quick keys are your best friends. Trust me. I know this because I'm constantly having to memorize quick keys for features in Pro Tools, and so many of them have been helpful.
Congratulations! Musescore 4 is great! Then you need to resolve the issue of image capture as in musescore 3, as the quality of the image when exported does not have the same quality even when increasing the dpi...
I've been using it since version 3.2, and usually I hate changes that make the app less intuitive. It took me ages to get used to Windows 11!! And then there's the addition of the Muse Sounds, which are some of the best free VST type things I've heard, there even better then Spitfire BBC.
Not to rush you guys at all but does anyone know if there is an ETA for the Musescore Percussion/Drumline stuff? I like to do a lot of drum corps brass & percussion stuff on Musescore and I have been wanting to see more drum corps stuff on it for a long time so I finally won't have to resort to using Musescore 3, and I'm sure the huge drum corps community that uses Musescore would love that too. Hi there! MuseScore 4 scores can - as of yesterday - now be seen in the mobile app. There'll are a ton of improvements coming to the mobile over the coming weeks/months, so ensure you keep it updated to get the latest fixes.
I think Musescore is a wonderful software for most musicians. However, as a self-taught amateur musician I have a hard time using it. This is probably because I expect it to be as intuitive as using a word-processor in Windows or using a cellphone. But it is not and I would like to explain why. Firstly I create a small piece of music in my mind, then I want it to be written in Musescore. The intuitive process begins automatically with the tones, not the rhythm. But Musescore will not let me work that way. Every time it ends with complete chaos when I try to adjust the timing so that it corresponds with the music in my mind. May be Musescore is not intended for amateur composers....?
The current MuseScore entry workflow works best with rhythm first (or both rhythm and pitch at the same time). Some users work around it by entering things twice. Starting with notes first and then using a second score to rewrite it whilst figuring out the rhythm. For MS3 there is a "Duration Editor" plugin, which'll shift notation within the measure when changing duration; but it hasn't been ported to MS4 yet.
It can't be the best notation software without the implementation of midi and or picture sync. Media music composition holds an enormous share of the field (film, TV, streaming video, game, social media...) The software had this capability for years and it has been dropped in Musescore 4. The indifference and apparent lack of enthusiasm behind this feature at the development level is astounding to me. Perhaps there are no composers that do this type of work on the development team? It's a mystery to me. In spite of the remarkable playback capabilities in Musescore 4 that can instantly rival hours, if not days, of work in a DAW with expensive sound libraries, the software is entirely ill equipped for contemporary media music composition due to this regression of synchronization capabilities. It seems to me that the more some of us complain about it, the less important the feature becomes to the core team.
Please rest assured - we genuinely share your enthusiasm for these features. The reason we haven't gotten around to developing them yet comes down to a number of factors, including the relatively small size of the team, other more urgent priorities, and the complexity of the project. If a feature doesn't get implemented, it's because these various factors have, on balance, meant we simply cannot put it on the roadmap for an immediately forthcoming release. We appreciate your patience though - it's certainly in our sights to support this feature at some point in the future.
Y'all should also include a contemporary music suite in muse sounds like accordion, members of different families that have lesser known members but ones that are still used quite often in contemporary music (i.e. Contrabass clarinet), and also more contemporary techniques(behind the bridge, higher notes in instruments that can go higher but they are not able to in current muse sounds, and bowed percussion). As well as adding a solo contrabass in muse sounds strings. It really bugs me that I have either the option if MS Basic or a group of Contrabasses and not a single one. Also maybe bass trumpet? or bass oboe/lupophone/heckelphone? just one "bass oboe" sound that works for all of them. Maybe also adding a dedicated taiko instrument option to automatically use the sound from muse sounds?
> Maybe also adding a dedicated taiko instrument option to automatically use the sound from muse sounds? Is it currently part of a different instrument or something? Would love to have taikos

Hey - sorry to hear you're experiencing bugs, but bug fixes are always on our list too! As Bradley says in the video, please get let us know any issues you're experiencing on the site forum or GitHub.
Can you update the sound font for the classical guitar to play Dolce and Ponticello? The sound at louder levels sounds very tinny and sloppy, not how a classical guitarist would play it. Also, I have a couple of classical guitar plugins. Is there a way to make them recognize things like slides and hammer ons? One of my plugins plays the notes as written (instead of an octave higher). Is there a way to transpose the midi up an octave without transposing the notation up an octave. Just asking. I love MuseScore.
To change the transposition, right-click (Ctrl+click on Mac) into the staff of the instrument and choose "Staff/Part Properties" from the context menu. In that dialog, near the bottom, you can configure the instrument transposition to be used. You'll then also have to counter-transpose the notation to restore it to it's original location. (Ctrl/Cmd+Up/Down for octave transposing a selection).
Ok, but when will hammer-ons/pull-offs/slides get some love, because there is no even semi decent way put them in, or especially get them to actually look right at the moment. There needs to be a quick/easy way to get those implemented and should be several options for how they look. Currently you have to manually put in a tie, letter, and gliss separately, then potentially fight what Musescore wants for the placement of all of those if you want it to even just make sense to a reader. This other stuff you've been doing is certainly nice, but it was already realistically possible to notate this stuff without too much issue, even if it didn't sound right.
