- Prairie Voices joins the University of Manitoba Singers to perform Frode Fjellheim's "Eatnemen Vuelie" at Westminster United Church. March, 2009. The distinctive nasal tone is "yoiking," a form of traditional singing from Scandinavia.
I came here because of Disney's Frozen... I love this!
Excellent! I loved this!
doing this song for MAIS Honour Choir in Rome in two weeks ;)
WOOOOOOOOW!!!
Great rendition guys, I wish my chorus would do this song.
We're doing it in my choir!
This is Fjellheim's version of a beloved Scandinavian hymn (Deilig er jorden), much used at Christmas and burials. The combination of a joik-like style of singing, the drum and the strong rhythm makes a nice contrast to the hymn, which is otherwise most distinct when the choir sings "normally". I dont know South Sami language, which is Fjellheim's mother tongue, but I guess the text is some translation of the originally Danish text. English text is "Fairest Lord Jesus".
Nice Song, but I have to correct you, the Joik is from the Sámi-people who live in Norway, Sweden and Finland. But this joik is from Norway, since Frode Fjellheim is norwegian.
Caralho a canção já existia antes de Frozen!
Frozen brought me here!
