      Me: "Join these walls."
Revit: "Got it, I'll space them each 6 inches apart from each other."
      Me: "No...join them...together..."
Revit: "Ok, I'll join exteriors and leave huge gaps cut out of the join."
      Me: "Wall. Join. Do it!"

So true, they need to do something about the join issue, or give us more and better tools to join things, often you need to join - unjoin , detach etc. i'm starting to think it's better to have everything detached, because if things are attached you fix something and something else breaks up.

Exactly, this is soooooooooooo useful, i have an addin that does this thing and it changed my life, much more efficient than normal filter, there are many times where you want to filter by family and type and even instances and not just by category like Revit filter does!

these new features are jokes. revit ideas forum has LOTS of ideas never taken in consideration. This does not change at all stuff that we could do even before with many workarounds.
I am basically 10 years waiting for improvement on stairs, and many other things that do not worth the subscription we pay annually. We bought more than 150 licences last year. And nothing happened. For the architecture disciplines they continue to add totally pointless features that do not improve at all our workflow.

    • @kaiserw3177

I'm in a similar position and would consider myself a "power user". The biggest thing for me is improved efficiency and speed to keep up with the designer/architect. I put together a custom $6000 pc a few months ago thinking that I would gain some efficiency with Revit, well, it barely does anything. The program is slow and flawed to its core. Adding new features is not important to a lot of us, improving the current features to make them useable is key. As you mentioned, the stairs are a glaring weak point, and then there's the senseless upgrade of files every year. Looking back at it, if I could have purchased Revit outright I would have kept Revit 2018 and not upgraded. If it wasn't for my investment in my template file, I would be long gone by now.

Auto desk really needs to improve its “updates”
This could be a feature update to Revit 2021 or Revit 2020.
Pick a year and support it for 4 years and use the backend to actually develop better tools. Rhino and Archicad are improving and have viable alternatives to Revit. Few more years of this and people will make the switch to better software.

modify a wall in height is almost useless, we need to modify in plan. Old buildings has to be designed with different shape in plane while in height we can use thinner wall level by level. Autodesk has to copy simply Archicad regarding wall management and design.

  • @Troy-Moses

A meaningful improvement for me would be to give pattern lines the ability to have a profile... For example, a brick wall mortar joint could receive a vee, bevel or coped recess or protrusion based on the wall pattern. This will eliminate all the fussing with bump files. Being able to split patterns would also be nice for special connections at openings, etc.

Topography tools are still the same nightmare. The terrain doesn´t look smooth, doing a kerb/footpath is an adventure (you use railings or try the site designer which is even worse).
If the toposurface is big it starts lagging each time you add a point, contours change when you add a subregion (why???). The same old revit toponightmare.
Decent tools for site design would be on the top of my wish list.

Sorry if this is obvious to all: Can I also split a large schedule to fit on a single sheet in multiple “columns”, so I have all the relevant information in a single sheetview? If I split a schedule on multiple sheets, is it also possible to (manually) add a “soft/hard-column-break” before or after specific (sub)categories to make the schedules more legible and avoid “bad breaks” like when using ie. Microsoft Words: Shift+Enter vs. Ctrl+Enter vs. -?
The hyphen-option would translate to: “Break schedule at this point if needed” and the “Ctrl+Enter” would translate to: “Always break at this point”.

As an ArchiCAD user, I just burnt a candle for all the revit users out there. Seriously - native PDF export as a brand new feature in 2022?
Since using Revit for the first time in 2010 for half a year and being forced to use it every now and then, I just don't understand what they are doing with this program, it barely improved in 12 years in my opinion, while other programs change on a monthly basis... I'm not trying to rant or anything, it's just - is it only the opinion of me (an infrequent Revit user) or are people generally happy with Revit?
