    They forgot to mention about Marshawn Lynch being caught with a hand gun in his gym bag while at Buffalo, it was one of the reason's Buffalo let him go. As a Bills fan at the time, I agreed with it, but it turned out good for the Hawks because he didn't get to any more trouble but it was an issue at the time.

    The Herschel Walker trade is THE #1 trade of ALL TIME, no question about it. If you are a Vikings fan, it is the WORST trade in NFL history, the greatest if you are a Cowboys fan. The Walker trade will ALWAYS be the #1 trade as far as being a lopsided benefit for one side and a disaster for the other team. The fact that MN Vikings GM Mike Lynn kept his job is amazing. The Herschel Walker trade will always be the #! worst/Best trade in all of Professional sports history.

    I love how Buffalo gets crapped on over Lynch - yes, he ended up being awesome, and Seattle got him for a song, absolutely - but Lynch was being really toxic up to it, and also had gotten a DUI or DWI and ran someone over, I can't remember which, basically he was shaping up to look like a problem player all of a sudden. Getting rid of him and getting anything for him seemed like a blessing, at the time. Bills fans were still absolutely gutted we picked CJ Spiller, as we did not want him (we had so many other holes to fill!) but yeah - Did history prove Buffalo wrong on this one? Absolutely. Wasn't dumb at the time, though.

    In Walker's first full season in Minnesota (1990), he led the NFL in all-purpose yards. 2051. He also had 9 TDs. In 1991, he dipped to 1112 a-p/yds. But he had 10 TDs. This notion that he was a complete failure in MN is a bit overstated. He was a disappointment to be sure because Minnesota didn't win with him in 1990 or 91 (14-18). However, Walker's career has been undermined by the perception that he was a 100% bust in Minnesota. That is not true.

    As big as the Dickerson trade was, they got it right with #1.
    #2 was moreso win win all around. The Rams got more out of Greg Bell than the Vikings got with Walker. Indy got needed franchise legitimacy and the Bills got Bennett/Shane Conlan, key pieces for their SB teams.

    Anybody saying that Herschel wasn't good with the Vikings didn't actually watch the games or else they didn't know what they were watching. Look at his numbers. He wasn't the problem, the owner was. Herschel's contract was incentive heavy. I watched him get 90 yards in the first quarter numerous times, only to see him pulled from the game to make sure he didn't get 100 for the game. 2 QB'S ended up losing the ability to audible because their kept changing the play to give the ball to Herschel. He was catching 60 passes a year at a time when the average for a running back was around 25. And he averaged over 4.5 ypc in a outdated, useless system that was set up for failure

    • @danlorett2184
      @danlorett2184 5 років тому

      Yeah Walker was screwed by the Vikings system, that's for sure. He was a fantastic player. It still made a massive amount of sense for Dallas to trade him - the rest of the Dallas squad was near useless. Having an all-pro RB surrounded by a bunch of nobodies doesn't equal a winning team. This video doesn't really do justice explaining how they structured the trade to get one over on the Vikings either. Originally they traded for players but Dallas brought up that they wanted some kind of guarantee or consolation if the players they traded for didn't work out. That's what prompted the Vikings to offer the conditional draft picks - they knew the players they were trading were almost assuredly better than what Dallas had (which was mostly true) so the Vikings didn't think they'd have to give up the picks at all. Then Jimmy Johnson just cut all of the players because he was REALLY after the draft picks. There was a significant amount of subterfuge involved in this trade and the Vikings were blindsided by Johnson cutting ALL of the players to take ALL of the draft picks.
      On top of that the practice of trading up draft picks was pretty much never done in the league at this point. Johnson took his raft of picks and started calling other teams offering them draft picks in earlier years so he could get more or better picks in later years. He was able to parlay those 6 draft picks he mugged the Vikings for into nearly an entire team of top draft picks just 3-4 years later.
      Of course since then, teams have wised up considerably and now they value draft picks much more highly. Johnson played a trick nobody had really used before and he got the maximum value out of it, then turned that windfall into even more by innovating draft pick trading and being patient.

    Trading Trent Richardson to the Colts for a first rounder was the SMARTEST thing the Browns have done up until that point since 1999. You would think that they do smart stuff with their two first rounders. They trade their fourth pick, which was their own first rounder, to the Bills (Sammy Watkins) and now had the ninth overall pick. They swap spots with the Vikings to select Justin Gilbert, one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory. The Vikings select Anthony Barr.
    With the pick from the Colts, they traded up to select Johnny Manziel, one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory. The Eagles received their pick, and drafted Marcus Smith, who was out of the league last season.
    In total, with these trades, the Browns:
    - missed out on a combined four Pro Bowls
    - have selected not one, but two mega draft busts
    - did not improve their team one bit
    - selected Manziel ahead of Bridgewater, who is still in the league and will start next season
    Its just awful. Until the Browns actually start winning, dont tell me anything about how good they are on paper.
