After about half a year of spotting I realized that Aviation Music Videos were quite popular on my old UA-cam channel called ‘Planespotting HAJ’. After meeting up with Chantal in November 2016 we quickly became good friends and I had the idea of creating a UA-cam channel fully dedicated towards aviation films and cinematography. Producing aviation films takes a bit more time than just a regular spotting video, so I realized quickly that I need someone to help me with that. After asking Chantal she was excited for this new project too and on March 15, 2017 we then created our channel Aileron Aviation Films. For half a year AAF was a side project as we kept uploading to our other channels ‘FlyHigh Aviation’ and ‘Planespotting HAJ’ regularly. In autumn 2017 we decided to fully focus on AAF and stop uploading to our other channels. In autumn 2017 we also hit our first milestone with this channel - capturing the last airberlin landing in Berlin Tegel. That video got about 50k views in a couple of days and even reached German UA-cam Trends which was mindblowing at that time as we were used to two and three digit view counts. For the next few years our channel had a quite steady growth of about 150 subs per month and we were producing about 10-12 aviation films per year. In spring 2019 we both upgraded our camera gear to produce 4K video and better low light video. With Chantal finishing school in 2018 and me finishing school in 2019 we decided to move together to Hamburg in February 2020 for university. In autumn 2020 we had a lot of successful videos like our goodbye film for Berlin Tegel Airport reaching over 22k clicks, the 747 birdstrike video reaching over 2 million and the A380 shorts video over 500k. All those videos created a lot of traffic on our channel and accelerating our growth to over 1k subs per month which brought us to 10k subs pretty quickly.

Thank you Hao! We don't get much better from video to video but looking back a few years tells us that we've indeed came a long way. When watching LIGHTS nowadays we think 'Oh wow, we had some terrible low light quality there' but back then it was good, we were happy with the result and our audience liked the video too. Today we wouldn't upload a video like that anymore but back then it was great. We actually thought about making a LIGHTS vol.2 completely shot in 4K with way better low light quality and smoother camera work, what do you think?

Haha thanks for adding me to the list! LIGHTS 2 would be awesome, you've definitely got the right equipment to make an even better version, combine that with some unique shots (like the lightning shot from LIGHTS or some aircraft + moon shots), maybe some slow motion and some slick transitions and you've got yourself an epic film. There definitely aren't many night time plane videos out there so LIGHTS 2 would be a great addition! :-)
@@Hao_1 Good point, slow motion would be great, unfortunately our current cameras only shoot at 30fps in 4K but we're currently saving money for a 4K 120p camera. ~ Ole ✈️

Wie wird's in Zukunft mit dem Kanal weitergehen jetzt wo der Uploadfilter in den Startlöchern steht?
Mit Pech fliegen ein paar ältere Videos weil wir da keine Lizenz für die Musik haben. Denke aber eher nicht weil UA-cam mit dem Content ID System die jetzt geplanten Regelungen schon recht weitläufig umsetzt und wir von der Werbung die vor den älteren Videos läuft nichts erhalten. Seit November 2019 zahlen wir Lizenzgebühren für die Musik die wir nutzen und die Videos die du siehst sind alle selbst gedreht. Es wird also weiter Videos geben und für alle Videos seit Nov 2019 sollte es keine Probleme geben :) ~ Ole ✈️
@@AileronAviationFilms Ah, vielen dank für die Antwort. Ist das einfach mit den Lizenzen bzw. muss man viel Geld dafür hinblechen? Wenn nicht dann wäre der Uploadfilter ja gar nicht so schlimm.
Für die Musik zahlen wir momentan 180€ im Jahr und können dafür so viel Musik aus der Bibliothek nutzen wie wir wollen, das ist sehr anwenderfreundlich. Für Musik die nicht in dieser Bibliothek ist, zB solche wie wir früher genutzt haben zahlt man gut und gerne 200€ pro Titel oder sogar noch mehr, sodass sich der Kauf nachträglicher Lizenz für uns leider einfach nicht lohnt. Denke aber wirklich nicht, dass da viel gesperrt wird. ~ Ole ✈️
