    we're shocked because we had to endure the Country Club mentality Keefe set during his tenure. Allowing soft players to get softer with no accountability. Now the men will be separated from the boys and it's about damn time. o7

    Good show. I agree to taking JT off PP#1 and putting Knies in the goalie's face. I also agree JT needs better line mates on the 3rd line. Max P and Jarnkrok are worth a try. That leaves Holmberg and Robertson on the outs. Holmberg could rotate with Reaves on the 4th line, so Robertson is the logical one to go elsewhere. Trouble is, can Max P play every game? Probably not. Holmberg is a cheaper 4C, but trading Kampf's contract would be tough. Lot of moving parts in a big puzzle. Liljegren is the obvious one to move out from the D core. Utah needs help on the right side due to injuries, so he may wind up there.

    My take is that if you want to score get in front of the net especially if you’re going against the best goalie in the league Take away his eyes for god sake . Every shot leaf’s took was squared off to Shesterkin

      Exactly! You either have to make FAST, multiple passes before the shot, OR, shoot the puck from a high-percentage slot area while crowding the net...the Leafs did NEITHER of these things last night against the Rangers. They had slow, horrible, cross-ice passing, and their shots were far, wide-angled, low chance shots with NOBODY in front of the net.

    would it be possible to have a successful PP using like maybe one star and an assortment of grinders and fan favorites? like has this been tried before. Cause i feel like every team just puts their like 'top 5 players' regardless of how well they play together.... so its like of course half the powerplays in the league are gonna be this kind of lacklustre bonfire of the vanities, like most of the time its just they top scoring forwards having trouble moving it into the offensive zone

    REMOVE JT put Knies on the PP ...JT has totally FALLEN OFF on speed and slowness and will continue 1 last season as LEAF for him

    The new culture of the Leafs is very much like last year's. Leafs are a pretty good regular-season team. Period. They'll finish 2nd in division. Sadly, teams like Florida, NYR, Boston, and others stand in their way to doing anything in the playoffs. Leafs don't even have a real goalie.

    Is it me or is Robertson Ghosting out?? It’s seems between Exhibition and Season start he seems nonexistent. Trade is around the corner I believe

      I agree. Yeah he looked great in pre season, but he was playing against teams using AHL players or prospects. Now it's the real thing, the big boys, and he's vanished. Not from lack of effort, he's trying, but he is a one dimensional player with an average hockey IQ, and no D play whatsoever, so his time has run out. Only reason they may keep him around is because they're not sure about how much Max P can play.

      @@michaelkirkpatrick7483 I agree,Tho I think Robertson is a much faster skater than PAC ,I think as far as skilled and or hockey sense PAC takes the cake. PAC can make plays can park himself in front of the crease get greasy goals or straight up fire the puck make accurate passes but Unfortunately Nick doesn’t display those traits . Nick is in Hockey limbo, Teams are reluctant to take in a ok player to fill ins only bc they already have fly by night players . Nick will probably never find a hockey home I’m afraid, He’s better off AHL he’ll be a great player there But not in Leafs Organization

    The problem with the PP is Mitch Marner. It’s always been Mitch. It’s why it drys up in the playoffs and why Auston doesn’t score in the playoffs. He holds the puck too long and tries to thread a needle pass thru 4-5 defenders. No he’s a terrible puck distributor. Ryan is wrong and needs to lay off the James Tanner articles.

  • @mattrix4200
    @mattrix4200 2 місяці тому

    Woah woah woah boys... if you're watching these games and HONESTLY think (without resorting to cliches) that Marner is the problem (over Nylander & Tavares) then you really need to evaluate how much you're paying attention.
    ''Just shoot the puck" is grade-school hockey advice that may work in SOME cases, but NOT for every player. Marner would be a completely useless player if he wasn't used as a passing quarterback and first-entry PP player. He's also the main reason Matthews scores on the powerplay because of his Hull & Oates relationship with Marner. They each have their roles!
    But if you've been watching for who hasn't been playing well on the PP then look no further than Nylander & Tavares. Yes Tavares is one of the few who will actually go to the net, and yes Nylander is dynamic on odd-man rushes, but on the powerplay they both make HORRIBLE decisions all the freakin' time! Last night against the Rangers I counted no less than 4 HORRIBLE slow, cross-ice, passes by Nylander on the powerplay that were easily intercepted and dumped down the ice (or turned into odd-man rushes AGAINST)... And I counted no less than 3 times Tavares had golden opportunities to distribute the puck to someone in a sweet spot for a shot, but he's got this ''just shoot the puck'' advice stuck in his head, so his point blank shots in the chest didn't do anything! (Nylander was also guilty for some horrible bad angle shots). Berube thankfully pointed this out in fact ''We didn't take away the goalies eyes on the puck'' (meaning ''Just shoot the puck the moment you get it!" may work for your kid's Peewee hockey team, but you need to take more INTELLIGENT shots against NHL goalies).
    Demote Tavares & Nylander to PP2, and put Knies & McMann in their place. Your PP2 also looks decent as a result:
    Domi - Tavares - Nylander - Robertson - Rielly
