  • On a perfect summer day I hiked the 15 mile round trip from Sunrise Lakes Trailhead near Tanaya Lake in Yosemite National Park, CA in summer 2023. Clouds Rest is my favourite hike in Yosemite!

I’ve been to Half Dome twice and Clouds Rest twice and I have to say I like going to Clouds Rest, incredible views without the crowds. It is like going on the top of a giant dinosaur.

Thank you for the trip report, Rob. Planning on doing this hike in two weeks. Being one of my favorite Yosemite hikes, this will be my 2nd time. Last time was mid-July after a wet winter (2010-2011) and at the trailhead, I had never encountered so many bloodthirsty mosquitoes in my life.

Nice hike Rob, Yosemite is my all time favorite National Park. I am pleased to see you carry an emergency satellite communication device That is a good example for other hikers.

Thank you. Your hike brought back fond memories. I got to sleep on top of Clouds Rest once. Great experience.
