It’s actually possible to survive this if your fluttering skills are good enough. If you manage to hold out, Baby Bowser starts walking backwards... and upside down. If you manage to REALLY hold out, then you’ll see him walk so far back that he becomes a blip, AND you’ll start seeing duplicates of him coming from the corners of the screen. If you manage to really REALLY hold out, then he eventually turns right side up again and starts walking forward again, while the duplicates vanish. There’s also a glitch where if you manage to defeat Baby Bowser after he destroys all the platforms, they never reappear for the subsequent cutscene and he just falls into the abyss. And because the game requires him to land on something before the cutscene continues, this causes the game to softlock.
i swear this is the specific reason i feared this boss so much when i was younger, i mean the atmosphere is creepy enough, especially the music, because both just came out of nowhere in a game that's generally happy and cheerful-looking, and plus bowser walking ever so closer was really ominous, but the first time i played it and i failed that last shot and he ran full speed ahead into the ground, that's what truly kept me from beating the game for a month or so
The music definitely makes it unnerving. His constant charging and with him closer making you realize HOW giant he became does scare you but to top it off THE EYES. As he rose from the depths just that glare with those pupil-less eyes. Chills.....

some gba and snes have luckily escaped from this glitch. some snes and gba reported that their save files were deleted because it glitched the cartridge. and some snes and gba become non fuctional and become damaged because of this glitch.
I love how he pretty much just waddles toward you. When he’s running it looks like he’s really happy to see you. Y’know- minus the angry eyes.

It’s because none of us expected him to get that close and destroy the platform, so it was a bit of a surprise.
