    I went the similiar way like you. In 2018 I bought AK 550 - great maxi scooter - yes I had some problems with it - but nothing what was annoying and time taking. In 2020 I bought Honda Africa Twin AS DCT version. And after 15000 km with Honda I can say that I will be happiest having two of this bikes in garage:) Best regards from Poland and thank you for very good movies from you.

    I don't compare price range or category, only day-to-day use based on your questions.

    Great review!! One thing to consider for off road is that the Enduro Pro mode may not be as good as just the Enduro mode, since the setup is different and may be too extreme for some riders. You work up to Enduro Pro mode as you gain more experience.

    What was those reliability issues with the ak? I'm currently in the market for getting a used AK550 or Sym TL 500. What to look out for? You think there are better choices in the maxi scooter class? I need something for everyday rides in the city/suburban that can take a long trip once or twice a year. No offroad, i had a Vstrom 650 an realized i took it one time offroad, rest of the time the 19" front tire and relatively high center of gravity was just a pain in the ass (im 177cm). Keep up the good work, like your videos!

      It had front suspension seals problem, almost every year they would break, clutch system failing and electrical problems (battery was never charging properly) those were the big ones. Tl500 looks OK but I don't know lots about it, good price thought. And tmax is more reliable but expensive.

      @@Biketrips The TL sounds fine my only concern is the 41Hp. I know it's more then enough for everyday use but the elasticity over 120km/h i'm concerned about a little. If it was the power of the ak it would be a no brainer. I also unfortunately live in the city and just want something practical and reliable, i do not want to screw around the bike but sit on it and ride, se yeah, the ak seems less and less attractive..

      I guess for the city 41hp is enough, I don't think it will have a problem on highways, yesterday I saw one on highway as I was coming to my vacations, and it was doing same as me 130km/h, He was alone though. But I think its value for money for city and some trips.

      @@Biketrips i will test one on the autobahn and see if it holds the 130 without "screaming" :D Im not a speed junky i just want to enjoy the ride and not have to think about what's going to break next.

    εχω ακουσει οτι οι δονησεις που φτανουν στα χερια και στο σωμα ειναι ενοχλητικες...σε σενα ειναι αισθητες?

    • @Biketrips
      @Biketrips  3 роки тому +1

      Δονήσεις έχουν όλα τα μηχανάκια,έχει έναν συγχρονισμό στις 5000 στροφές, αλλά γενικά έχουν μειωθεί από τότε που ήταν καινούριο. Μέχρι τις 4000 δεν νιώθεις τίποτα πχ. Έχεις και ένα μοτέρ 1250 κυβικά οπότε δεν γίνεται να μην έχεις κάποιες δονήσεις, αλλά υπάρχει τρόπος να τις εξαφανίσεις άμα σε ενοχλούν.

    But your ak550 is much a cooler bike

  • @ArcanePath360

    I found the AK550 to be insane on costs. I service my own BMW R1200RT and it is a fraction of the time to change an oil filter. The fuel consumption is around the same if you learn to glide with the clutch in when possible. When you open it up my God it swallows petrol. I miss the twist and go practicality and light weight but not the constant problems. Plus my RT has a radio and much better satnav and wind protection.

      Yeah actually it was a bit money hungry, but if it would be really reliable i wouldn't mind TBH. But im glad to the choise i made. Making my life a bit more adventures and also care free.
