Why Some Sherpas Say There Won’t Be Any Guides On Everest In 10 Years

Everest climbing-guide services - often provided by people of the Sherpa ethnic group - can cost $10,000 per expedition. At this price, the guide takes responsibility for climbers' lives as well as their own. They lead mountaineers to the top of the world, carrying heavy loads and providing emergency services. This is one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet. Of the 332 people who died climbing Everest between 1921 and spring 2023, over a third were mountain guides.

For climbers that are rich...an extra money should be given to the Sherpas/guides for every successful summit.. without the consent of the government...if I was rich and climb Everest successfully, I will surely give a lot of money to them... Because they're basically our bodyguard during the whole expedition.. the Govt . should increase their wages ASAP

If the guides are paid as low as 4.500 $ per climb or 10 whats the point ..give them 25 k or more per climb. They take on big responsibilities.

@@melanievansanten2672 exactly... they're putting their life on the line.. it's one of the most dangerous jobs in the world...but very underpaid...and they've only about 3/4 months a year to earn money...

Climbing Everest should be banned for 25 years, the mountain cleaned, and allowed to heal, and then climbing should be extremely limited. The trashing of Everest is a crime against nature.
