  • Ready to explore patternmaking? This 5 part series is here to gently introduce you the mysterious world of patternmaking. These courses are offered in a thoughtful order to keep the experience fun and rewarding.
    Master Pattern Courses in Order:
    Course 1: The A-line dress sloper. It is used to make dresses without waistlines. The fit is easy and you can create so many designs from it.
    Day1 - Pattern and muslin
    Day 2 - Fit review and adjustments and sleeve
    Day 3- Design variations
    Course 2: The Skirt Master Pattern. The A-line-skirt sloper is used to make may different skirt styles and combined with the bodice sloper to make innumerable dress and jumper designs.
    Day1 - Pattern and muslin
    Day 2 - Fit review and adjustments and waistband and pockets
    Day 3- Design Variations
    Course 3: The Bodice Master Pattern. The bodice sloper is used to design most waistline dresses. It can be combined with the skirt sloper and other skirt patterns and is used to make empire waist styles as well.
    Day1 - Pattern and muslin
    Day 2 - Fit review and adjustments and sleeve
    Day 3- Design variations
    Course 4: The Pant Master Pattern. The pants sloper is used to make pants of any length from shorts to slacks and any width from tapered to widely flared. It is also used to make jumpsuits.

    Day 3- Design variations
    Course 5: The Blouse Master Pattern. The basic-blouse sloper is used to make many blouse styles as well as vests and long-waist dresses.
    Day1 - Pattern and muslin
    Day 2 - Fit review and adjustments, collar, sleeves and cuffs
    Day 3- Design variations
    45 hours of class time over 10 weeks

    Cost: $1575
    Prerequisites:
    Patternmaking Primer
    Fundamental Apparel Sewing - you cant make a pattern if you aren’t sewing from them.
    Supplies:
    Basic Tools from Patternmaking Primer (I have them but you should be gathering them)
    #9 mechanical pencil
    good hand held eraser
    10 yards of good quality muslin for sample sewing
    10 yards+ of alpha numeric pattern paper for patterns
    All other supplies will be provided.
    A follow-up workshop will be added for turning paper patterns into manila slopers that can easily be traced around.
    This fundamental course in patternmaking will teach you the basic concepts and you will leave with your own set of personal patterns - often called slopers or basic blocks - that you can use to make your own custom patterns from or to use in future patternmaking courses.
    * If you suffer from back pain be prepared: Patternmaking is a standing and bending forward sport. Wear orthopedic shoes and a back brace to help reduce the chance of increasing the pain.
