Van played like an angel. No one had his golden tone, the gossamer arpeggios. I treasure the live concerts I saw him play, a dozen or more in my lifetime. I would drive or fly to hear him in concert. He played "Widmung" as an encore at my request many times when he spotted me first row - and always as his last encore. It was a favorite piece of mine and he loved it too. No one played it prettier. There will never be another like him. He was a musical genius and a beautiful, kind, and thoughtful person. RIP, sweet Van. You earned your wings.
