Fly one of these myself with a dle 20, awesome aircraft one of my faves, seems to fly great with the electric conversion and wont annoy the neighbours!
I reviewed one of these for Flying Models and also noted the problem with the radio tray when doing the plane electric. My solution was to turn the tray around so that it faced toward the rear. This leaves tons of room to get the battery in and out.
DLE 20 would be good but I have one of these with a DLE 30 in it. Had to beef up the engine box and wing mounts to hold it together but unbelievable power to weight. Unlimited vertical and real authority in the air. This model plane is capable of so much more than this video displays and is an excellent flyer. It is a really popular plane at the field and gets loads of comments on how well it flies.
Hi, I beff up the engine box too, thanks for the info and flew it about 20 flights with the rcg 20cc. Now I've mounted the engine on a Carbon Cub and I don't know if to buy another rcg 20cc or an 30cc that is more versatile and I could mount it on 1,8m Extra in the future. In the air it's fine, but on landing it kills me with it's jumping tendacies that are amplefied wich each jump. I've changed the rigid alu gear with carbon one, wheels with rubber and more elastic ones, same thing doesn't mather how gentle I land or if I put it down on 2 or three wheels it jumps a litle, then more and more and the last jump stops or breakes the prop. How do you land it, 2 or 3 wheels, pull or push the elevator slightly? And do you think the frame will dump the vibrations of a 30cc on the long run? Do you still have/fly it?
Hi, nice video. I have the same Zlin with an RCG 20 cc gas engine. What is your ready to fly weight with empty tank and what do you think about the landing gear, it seems to me very stiff and I'm concerned that at harder landings it will not flex at all but break the fuselage. Didn't fly it yet.
No bad habits? It jumps like crazy on landing, almost every flight cost me a prop, two times broken landing gear mounting plate, break the wing tip, bend the engine gas pipe, and I flown befor gas planes for years without problems. That's why on all forums everyone sold it, and on youtube a third of the Zlin videos end up in a crash or near crash. It stalls very easy, yours almost stalled and dropped the left wing at landing too. Mine does the same, if it doesn't smash the wing in the dirt, it jumps. If I leave the elevator alone after touchdown, it jumps, if I pull easy it jumps, didn't try pushing it yet, like those ww2 rc plane pilots seem to do and their planes after landing seem to reach for the gras all the way till they stop and drop the tail. Maybe that's the answer, more speed and nose down attitude, to land this annoyng aircraft that everybody prais so much then they sell it or smash it.

Hi, I left you a reply on your Zlin video I'd appreciate an answer. Thanks!
