    You're my hero! So far from your videos I've learned how to rebuild the battery on my favorite Porter Cable cordless drill and rebuilt my Toro CCR2000 snowblower carb last weekend, which is running better than ever now, thanks to you. I have a blue 1974 Trail 70 in my shed that I had when I was a kid in the late 70's and I can hardly wait to work on that thanks to this video. Your videos are really great and have a lot of value. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to make and post them!

      I have a 250cc dual sport Enduro, it's fun!
      The only wheelies I've done were on a yard tracker with new aggressive tire tread it just needed to wheelie if you weren't going downhill/ leaning over the steering wheel. 😂
      MC Season prep, Need to clean the carburetor and get a new battery.
      Do you remember where you ordered your Honda MC battery?

    Wow. Memories. In 1967, when I was 12, my neighbor and best friend bought a trail 70. His dad had a 20 acre pasture with a creek running thru it. We spent our satuday morning riding that Honda in and out of the creek. That was a blast.

    Hey 65, pretty cool! As a Harley mechanic from years ago, there is a trick I learned that you can do, in the field, to fix a stripped out plug hole. To make an expedient plug tap, hack a couple of grooves in the spark plug threads of a spare plug, the more knarly, the better, with something like a Dremel or a cut off tool, then pour some gas on it and blow off as much filings as you can and carry it with you. Run that plug in the stripped hole all the way in and as like as not, you are ready to go. It will get you home. Just a thought from my crazy past.

    Ginger would be the coolest dog in the neighborhood with a red baron leather flying helmet, goggles and red scarf cruising in the side car. Those old Honda Trail series bring back memories of dirt road and hay field riding when I was a kid. The side car adaptation is a unique hack that someone came up with.

    I had one of these growing up. It got some trash in the carb as I was going down a dirt road about a half mile from my house and died. I left it in the ditch, covered as best as I could get it, and walked home. When my dad and I returned to collect it we were too late. The fuel tank was rusted on the inside, but otherwise it was in great condition. We did have to re-tap the threads but we just freshened them up and I was no longer allowed to take the spark plug out after that. If my dad was alive I'd send him this video. Who'd think a 7 year old didn't do it, that it was a common problem. Anyways, good times on my little sewing machine motorcycle. If I could I'd buy another one, maybe the 125 even.

    I had the same problem with a spark plug in 1966 with my Honda 55.i was only 10 and wasn't allowed to use dads tools. That little electronic device was a selenium rectifier . I only know because that's another problem I had with my 55. Then the plug blew and my dad said it was junk. I do like the side car idea. I've been looking for a little Honda 70 to throw in my trunk for weekend play . The sidecar is a good place to carry groceries and the dog... I paid a fair amount for this little gem at an estate auction. Every person that passed it sat on it and had to have it. I won the bidding war.

    That is so cool and fun! i always wanted one of those mini bikes so badly back in the late 70's. I was denied and deprived because my mom said it was too dangerous to own :-( Take care man

    I still have my CT70 from 1972, I'm thinking of swapping the engine out for a Lifan 150cc, they claim they bolt right on w/o mods. We'll see, LOL !

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  4 роки тому

      I've heard of people doing this and Lifan is the way to go. I've heard it's not just a direct bolt on and some people had to notch the frame for the starter? Also I think you have to remove the chrome engine support bars(newer models didn't use these). I'd love to hear your thoughts as I have a 77 I'd like to swap.

      @@sixtyfiveford Well for now I still have a 2000 R6 on my stand that I'm turning into a cafe racer for a guy , then it's on to a 1980 CB750 ( fixing for myself and the misses) then a 1981 XJ750 SECA to cafe, but yeah I think I can squeeze in another project . Not sure what the front end of a 77 looks like, YET, but will take a look at and we'll figure something out. Probably extremely unsafe and not road legal, but hey it'd be FUN ! I'm on it ! !

    That device looks like a selenium plate rectifier (a diode), converts the ac from the generator to crude dc to charge the battery :-)

    Nice job, you must have much more room then me to store your toys! That spark plug hole looked a little loose after tapping? If you take a ball bearing and give it a tap with a hammer on the top thread it can help snug up if needed. Your dog needs a pair of doggles.

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  8 років тому

      +doublewide6 Tapps always seem to give a loose fit. I did a bunch a tests years ago and got the best results by heating the material being tapped to expand/soften it. When it cooled it gave a snugger fit.

    I’ve been thinking about putting one on my 1964 Honda 90 ? I like the sound of yours without a muffler ? Or is the entire exhaust left off in the video?

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  6 років тому +1

      This is how the stock exhaust sounds on the CT70s. The 90 is quieter.

    What did you use in the tank and what would you use for a plastic one?

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  8 років тому

      +Marcus Kloepping Metal tanks I just use sulfuric acid(muriatic acid) diluted 50-75% with water. Let it soak for 24-48 hours and all the rust it gone. I neutralize the acid with baking soda and water when I'm done. Then I add straight acetone and that dissolves all the old gas in a steel or plastic tank.
