So nice of you Harriet!! I love his channel and his baobab Portulacaria Afra Forest - just an amazing composition. Nigel Saunders and that forest sparked my renewed interest in both bonsai and ports in particular.
🎉 so close!! It’s really amazing to me that so many people enjoy my videos. I’ve never addressed 1000 people in my life!! 🤣. Thanks for being one of them!!
@@CoffeeandBonsaiwithTomyes and jade bonsai is quite a niche topic as well! Your videos are nice to watch, they are relaxing and are educational at the same time. My compliments, and greetings from Amsterdam! :)
Portulacaria afra has to be my favorite type. It is so beautiful! Do you know if there is a big difference in growing rate of the regular type vs. the variegata type?
Hi Thunder! It’s also my favorite as well. There is quite a difference in the growth rate of the variegated versus the other types in my experience. The standard port is an aggressive grower and so are most of the other ‘green’ types. Even Lilliput grows quickly although in a smaller, tighter manner. If I had to put a number on it, I’d say the variegated grows at about 1/3 of the rate of the regular when I give them the same conditions. But, it’s also a plus since they need less pruning to maintain their shape once you get them established. The variegated also grows more compactly with more leaves and shorter internodes in my experience so it works well for bonsai. Best of luck and thanks for watching the channel!!!
Thanks Dave, that may explain why I haven’t heard from many folks!! 🤣. I will update the video to include my email in the description. It’s coffeeandbonsaiwithtom@gmail.com Thanks for watching and pointing this out Dave!

Nice tree. One of my larger PA has become a cutting tree. Every time there's a nice branch, it gets cut off for a new plant. 😅
You’re almost at 1000 subscribers, so many people who are loving what you do! 👍👏

Always happy to take cuttings from other people. I love saying this one is from my friend ... who grows in ...
I love it! Kind of like friendship bread I think they call it.
