"Theme park concept artist"
one step closer to Critical Role Land. Matt's plan is all coming together.
He is a Dungeon Master. Grand plans are what it is about. It was no mistake.
He got his multimedia room. All he's got to do is keep talking about it and one day it'll come true.
I hope they do eventually get to build a theme park and that Shaun Ellis gets to help design it. The concept art I say from him was AMAZING!!

Can we all just take a minute to appreciate how a group of voice actors playing DnD at home has morphed into a legit production company. Absolutely unreal.
My favorite part is that if you go back to Critical Role Season 1 Episode 1 the audio is... well, it's not great. Grainy, cuts in and out a good bit. Scratching noises. To this day when I tell someone to watch I say "Just bear with it, the audio gets better a few episodes in, don't worry".

What I've realized is that they eventually sat in a way where characters who knew each other beforehand generally sit far from each other. Like, Ashton and F.C.G., Laudna and Imogen, even Fearne, Orym and Dorian sit at least one person apart from each other. I don't know if this was intentional, but it enforces conversations across the table, since those who are most likely to talk to each other sit on opposite sides.
also in terms of getting your eyes accross the screen and following physically a conversation and noting what all of them are doing. Even if its purely subconscious.
There is no across the table in this set, everyone except Matt sits in a line
@@lucascova7875 Well, first of all, you're wrong. The video even shows them sitting at the table, and sitting alongside two sides of it. So they do talk across the table. Secondly, I consider everyone not directly next to someone as "across the table". It doesn't really matter if you're separated by a piece of wood, or other people, the point is that conversations aren't happening inside tiny 'friend-bubbles' but over larger distances.
And lastly, even if we only consider people sitting on different sides of the table as being "across", my point still stands pretty nicely. Laudna and Imogen are sitting at different sides of the table, so does FCG and Ashton and, to a degree, the trio of Orym, Fearne and Dorian, Dorian sitting at a different side from the other two.
But here, let me rephrase it, so the point becomes clearer to you: The cast is sat at a table in a way that characters who knew each other beforehand do not sit next to each other, and generally sit at different sides of the table. That good?
One of my favourite takeaways from this video was pausing on one of the concept art pages and realising that THE SET HAS IT'S OWN BACKSTORY.
Tavern of Tales sounds like such an epic thing.
Critical Role is what happens when a bunch of neardy friends become extremely financially successful with their nerdy ideas, then put that money right back into the business where is should be. I love these guys.
And this what so many people don't realize. So jaded are people with Corporate America that even the very thought of the Owners of a hugely successful, multi-million dollar business NOT pocketing said money, but, rather, re-investing that money back into the business itself is entirely unfathomable to them. Also, so jaded are people with Corporate America that, to them, when a small independent company makes it big, successful, and wealthy, all of a sudden they must now be sell outs and corrupt. In fact, I would go so far as to say their decision NOT to take a Salary is, probably, the reason they're still in business together. You can't fight over who gets a bigger piece of the pie when NOBODY gets a piece of the pie. The biggest downfall to Business Partner Friendships is money. Critical Role, smartly, removed money entirely from the equation. And to the jaded, the fact that they did that, again, is entirely unfathomable.

By spending a long rest here you gain the benefits of the hero's feast spell and all status ailments that can be cured using any other spell (except those that require wish or a 9th level casting of a spell) are healed after the rest. There is also a fully stocked bar with endless alchohol from any kind of alcohol that the caster has had before. This tavern is also magically protected and no harm can come to those that enter it unless the individual agrees to it. When 24 hours have elapsed the bar keep, who always has a hood obscuring his face, thanks you for your patronage and you are removed from the tavern before the door behind you closes. This spell requires a 20 sided die worth 2000 gold to be cast and is used on casting. Casting time of 1 minute. Can not be cast again until the Thursday night after this spell was cast.

And now you all understand why Critical Role needs to make money if they are going to continue to tell engaging and visually appealing tales. This shit don't come cheap. After hauling equipment and seeing the insurance papers backed behind the equipment, I would not be surprised if this set up cost around $1 million, if not more.
but then you ask, "Was the set not good enough before? Shouldn't the fact that these friends are in the same room playing a fun game be enough? Why do they think that we need a new set to be excited for the new characters, setting, lore and story? Don't the important parts have nothing to do with the table the game is played on?"
@@ZttackFrmBhind As someone who runs a game store and plays D&D, nah. That never crossed my mind. I'm always looking for better ways to make my passion for games and minis more appealing to people.
@@ZttackFrmBhind I don't have this mindset. I like nice maps and even better 3D models. I love creating minis of my characters. I have a nice dice tower and trays to roll my nice dice in. I think most of us critters are always looking to find a way to have more fun at the table. Being that critical role is a form of entertainment why not try and make the experience even more enjoyable for the players and the fans? Sure the most important part will always be the roleplaying aspect amongst a group of friends. That is why they are so popular more than anything else. But why be satisfied when you can do even better? If you were Matt and had this crazy dream and you could now make the dream come true wouldn't you?
It reminds me when people ask me, "Why do you need 2 60inch TV's in your living room?" It's not a matter of need its a desire or want. I can watch 2 sporting events at the same time. I can play a video game while listening/watching golf or a baseball game. Or I can have a friend come over and we can play games on both tv's at the same time. It's a luxury and fun and if you can afford it and want it why not do it if it makes you happy?
@@Fairburne69 All of what you say is true, and I don't fault them for wanting a new set, it kinda makes me sad that they got rid of the table they were gifted by Wyrmwood but that might just be sentimental me :)
It just feels like there is a lot of time spend on the set and none on the Campaign that we're all looking forward to. Except for the ominous "Throw out your expectations". Which in and of itself makes me afraid that it won't be the CR that I've loved and watched for the last 6 years
@@ZttackFrmBhind I can understand the sentiment. There is a small part of me that misses the originals. When the tables were crap the maps were crap the audio was crap and the video was crap. Seems crazy right? Those early episodes were so much fun. At the time it was a unique experience for me. I have fond memories of the early days of campaign 1.
Having said that I don't want them to go back. I prefer for them to keep pushing the boundaries of what can be done. As long as they don't lose the soul of the show. Just let Matt tell the story and let his players live in that world. That's what I want more than anything and what I'm most looking forward to.

Someday we'll be walking through a replica of this very set at Critical Role Land!
@@hannahstordeur7473 gah that would be amazing 🙌
Oh hell yeah.
How much does it cost to crowd-fund a Theme Park? Anyone know?
There is a reason why Critical Role is the top earner on Twitch. People don't understand it's a full on production with multiple cast members, technicians and artisans working full time behind the scenes to produce a show of this high caliber. This new set will elevate the show to a whole new level never seen before, but these things cost money. I'm glad they're continuing to prerecord because that will allow for more artistic story telling opportunities like they did with Deadwood, too. Combined with multiple GMs and concurrent campaigns (possibly), the future looks bright for Critical Role and the Critters!
This - and people not understanding how much money goes into making high quality production... but it's on twitch and youtube...the days of that meaning it's just people with their webcams doing it all by themselves is long gone. They earn a lot of money cause they put on a good show and clearly that money is being pumped back into production and it looks amazing.
Also, they forget CR’s first merch: the T-Shirts. Before Marissa could even finish advertising them, one of their crew rushed to them and said “they’re sold out.”
Or how about when they asked for 0.75M on Kickstarter for a single episode of The Legend of Vox Machina, and raised 3M on the first day.
People nowadays that earning lots of money doesn’t mean it just goes into your pocket. There’s a reason why we have two words for money making: Earned, and Profits.
okay, your comment ran wild in my mind and WHAT IF they have multiple games with different GMs and players but set in the same time and place and the players can swap between the games, visiting each other etc 😱I know it's not gonna happen but wow would that be epic!!

Honestly if Travis was unable to fulfill his duties as CEO for whatever reason, Marisha would be the obvious choice to fill the role. She clearly has excellent management and organizational skills.
She's pure unapologetic talent!
The most utterly sincere "thanks Keyleth" to Marisha lol
Agreed. She and the wonderful crew are amazing talents.
Just aside from the impressiveness of the set, take a moment to appreciate the woman who organized it all. Marisha has come such a long way from Batgirl Spoiled. Can't wait for the new campaign.
I remember her from hosting Super Power Beatdown on batinthesun years ago. It’s insane to see how far she’s come. I can’t wait to see what all she does
OH MY F-ING GOD, WORDS CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW AMAZING MARISHA IS AT WHAT SHE DOES!
Oh my god, this set is so beautiful! It's both pratical *and* aesthetic as hell! I love it!!! Marisha is so sweet, honestly, she deserves all the appreciation in the world ♥ I have an abundance of respect for that woman, no kidding!
Something I consistently love about CR is how the people behind the scenes get a shoutout. They didn’t just reveal the set and talk about the cool effects, they talked about how each person was brought in for their expertise and guidance, and even walked us through how they did it. It’s not often you see that, and it’s really sweet to see
They’ve come a long way from their staticky mics and a tight sitting arrangement. Congrats you guys! No one is more deserving. We can’t wait to see it in action!
Gods thinking back to the horrific audio and them almost faceplanting trying to get in and out of those seats is wild. It's been an insane ride and I'm so glad their dreams came true.
dont forget battle maps on classic 5ft squares dnd paper, or the pen and paper character sheets. My how times have changed huh?
I was here since the second ep of the first campaign and goddamn it's impressive
They level up in real life too!
@@Capt.SeaShanty Episode 5 of C1 for me, and yeah, very much so!!
This set is so engaging I assumed it was a green screen for the first ten hours of watching season three! This is truly a masterpiece.
I just looked it up. A theme park costs between 10 and 40 million to make. This is happening people. The animated show got 11 million on kickstarter. In a few more years they will be able to do a kickstarter for Critland.
how fucking dARE you make me even more excited for the campaign 3 launch on Thursday?????? I didn't even think that was POSSIBLE
I honestly can't wait to see who the new PCs will be, and what Classes they will be using. I, for one, would love to see someone playing an Artificer. Who knows? Maybe we'll even see some of the less used PC races like an Aarakocra, Tortle, or Tabaxi?
Are you going to be a guest? Please say yes!!!
@@AndreaTani Me? I wish! I'm just another fan.
@@gamester512 Considering Goliath's popularity started with them, it seems like at least one if them will go with something that isn't as common.

Liam - "I'm just going to let that happen to me. I'm fine with anything."
Sounds like he's mastered dodging Marisha's arms so anywheres good. 😂
I don't watch Critical Role for the DnD. I watch for these guys. Can't wait to see you all back!
I came across the stream for the campaign yesterday night by chance and being a non-D&D follower and having not followed Critical Role before this I gave it a go last night and the atmosphere, the characters and all that you are able to achieve in that space is remarkable. I was hooked immediately and I can't wait to see the next episode. You all did an amazing job of building the beginnings of a fantasy tale that has me thinking about this world and what is to come within it, its got me inspired creatively and I'm so glad I found this channel and your content! Better late than never! :D
a bit late but: welcome to critical role! :D
@@WireMosasaur haha better late than never, right?! I've been checking out their one shot campaigns like deadwood and they are so good....but I don't think I have the time to watch campaigns 1 or 2! O_o
@@joshuamarsh2618
Ahh I can only recommend the other campaigns of course, but they're currently turning all of C2 into the little animated "Recap" animations on this channel, if you'd like to catch up that way! (unfinished though) It will at least allow you to get some of the jokes these dorks make lol
The bighuge animated series is also going to start dropping very very soon on amazon prime, which covers the first arc of C1, which might be a good way to get to know some of the C1 characters if time isn't on your side (especially Keyleth of the air ashari, who is mentioned a lot in C3 ^__^)
@@WireMosasaur Thanks for the info, I will be sure to check them out as I can tell I'm missing some of the in-jokes made in C3. I had heard of the Amazon Prime show but not the animated recap on their channel, I shall definitely check them out. I wish I had the time to watch C1 & C2 as I know I would enjoy them, but that would take me years at the pace I can currently consume them. I'm sticking with C3 as I caught it from it's first episode and who knows how long this campaign will last. Hopefully for a good stretch of time!
Marisha is honestly so amazing, and this studio is such a wonderful way to enhance this 3rd campaign!! TWO DAYS
I didn't like Keyleth. Beauregard was iffy at first but grew on me as the campaign went along. Marisha on the other hand as creative director is top notch. Such amazing work and leadership. "Standing applause and two thumbs up" For the youngest of them. I'm very very impressed.
Seriously, Marisha is my hero!!
She's the best.
I dunno if it's sacrilege to say considering just who the other 2 are but of the 3 core ladies, she's my fave.
@@davidparkes7741 We all have our favorite cast members. That doesn't mean we don't love them all. For me Matt is at the very top. As players Travis (Thor & Cowboys) and then Laura. But I do love them all.
Matt: I think everyone has an idea of where they want to sit
Everyone: We have no idea where we want to sit
Dungeon Master - Player relationship 101.
I love Marisha making sure to give credit to all the parts involved, to showcase the crew and then Travis & Sam make sure that Marisha gets the credit she is due! It shows the love and friendship between them all.
Matt: I think everyone's starting to get an idea of where they wanna sit
Everyone: I have no idea where I wanna sit
"I'm of the mind to 'let them fight'" Matt says. I feel like whoever sits next to marisha is going to learn that personally lol. But also holy crap this is a dm's wet dream looking at all this
I think that is not going to be much of a fight, and more like a one sided beatdown xD
At this point I need her to be invading Liam's personal space for all of C3 as well
*Liam grunts in pain at his heavily bruised and aching right shoulder
@@Hades8103 "I'm just gonna let that happen to me"... Checks out 🤣
I like your name, Riley
I'd normally post something sarcastic, but I can't even bring myself to do it, after seeing this. Congrats and best of luck to all of yis' beauts!
Oh I love your singing. Glad to see you here.
Its amazing to see you here! You’re singing is amazing! I can just listen to you for hours! Keep up the good work!
Ahhh, you handsome lad
Colm continuing to bring the positive energy
Colm McGuinness! Wild seeing you here
I'm happy for them, they've been doing this for years and stuck with it. Congrats to everyone involved in this.
Talesin's right, those lanterns have dice silhouettes on them. That's so cool!
"i'll be next to anyone, i got deodorant it'll be fine"- Sam Riegel
SO GLAD I wasn't the only one who LOVED that comment! Sam is SO FUCKING GREAT!!!
I read this as he said it omg us
Many of their fans could learn from wearing deodorant
I'd go with antiperspirant but deodorant is still better than nothing.
I’m calling his bluff, put him next to Marisha
I love that Matt is literally living his wildest dreams. I'm so happy for him.
Well, the way he manages to narrate, maintain the attention of the players as well as the audience, the level of quality to both the story and plottwists. Feels pretty inevitable from the moment they aired it live. This man is a packaged genuis
How the hell do you do this. I already thought that your campaigns are just the best DnD there is and you manage to upgrade it and make it even better yet again. This is simply unbelievable.
I... No, WE, all of us, are so lucky to have you.
Seeing the Admiration, and love they have for each other was honestly the best part of this whole video. Set or no set, they're still just a bunch of best friends that love playing D&D together.
Matt menacingly, "Let them fight." IM CRYING
Let his dm slip out a bit 😂
He knows where he gets to sit, so no sweat for him 🤷♂️
@@BigDaddyGAO he is also going to enjoy it if there is chaos picking seats

I never expected to get so emotional over something like this in the past, but God I just love all of them so much.
The work, effort and pure passion Marisha put into this is so heartwarming and awe inspiring!
This made me hella emotional in all the best ways, i aspire to play on this level some day. Thank you to Marisha for making the dream a reality, and thank you to everyone else on the crew for making the magic happen. Love you guys heaps
Seeing them actually hugging and coming into physical contact with each other again actually broke me. I can’t wait to start this journey with them all. Is it Thursday yet?
ONLY TWO MORE DAYS
I also got a little teary, esp. when Marisha started to well up too.
YEEEEEEE
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I love having them back together, I'm just very anxious about them not continuing to social distance for awhile longer, regardless if it's just their personal choice or not.
With Delta raging and even killing folks that are vaccinated, I'm still very cautious and nervous that so many people act like "you know what" is totally over, though :( I'm trying to get used to people not taking as many precautions, but I don't know how people are so comfortable with it, I barely was talked into eating outside at a restaurant for my birthday and only ate inside for the first time like a week ago lol. I'm trying to be understanding about it, but I can't help but think a lot of my fellow liberals that are vaccinated aren't quite so understanding about others make personal choices we don't agree with... granted, just not getting vaccinated at all or making conspiracy theories about vaccines is on another level lol.
Yeah, that was nice! I’ve really missed them being able to be close to each other and do the friend thing. This is going to be fantastic!
Okay kids, let's say it all together: "Thank you Marisha Ray, the best creative director ever"!

This looks bloody amazing, im sure most of us crying with you. Its just so heart-warming seeing your dream come to life like this. You guys are an inspiration. I look forward to watching your banter on a weekly basis while I cram the remaining 130 episodes of campaign 2 in.
"The whole is more than the sum of its parts" has never been more true than with Critical Role.
"We are creators who are in charge of our own creation. That's really rare. Rarer than this set." This video made me cry and I think Liam captured perfectly why. This project couldn't be in the hands of a more deserving group. I love Critical Role and the community that has made it happen. Way to go everyone!
Such an amazing bond this group of friends have. Watching them grow over the last 2 campaigns has been delightful and inspired me to be a better friend. Critical Role, thank you for inspiring kindness, dedication, and most of all, comradery. You do more for so many people in this world than you know.
There's something beautiful about going deep into your passions that is projected on the stream. Thank you Marisha especially for taking the time to lead, create, and be all around incredible.
'Marisha is the youngest among us, and now also the most mature among us,"
This made me feel things I wasn't aware I could feel
This blew me away. I had no idea she was the youngest she acts with so much confidence and power. One day I hope to be half the woman she is.
@@sarahfuller6113 She turned 30(!) during the first year of CR2, I think. They celebrated during the episode.

Marisha, you fucking goddess you. Thank you for this beautiful gift.
I hope the old table made its way into Matt's home. So he such a huge piece of his legacy right there to look proudly upon and maybe run some fun not filmed games for himself and his friends.
This whole cast and crew is just winning right now, and I gotta respect the fact that they are a bunch of artists who are making it happen. So proud and so ready to see what’s in store!!
Remember when Matt made "lightning" flash during Yasha's Stormlord moments? Yeah... we're in for some CRAZY stuff
Yoooooo I didn't even think of that I just got even more hyped for this new set and campaign
I loved the dream sequence of Yasha and the storm lord where she fought the elementals played by the other players. I thought she was in over her head (both Ash and Yash) but she pulled it off nicely! A moment of true growth.
We really did not get to see the whole set. Disappointed but can’t wait for Thursday yet!
My mind goes to the Cinderbrush one-shot when Matt turned the set into a nightclub, that was also intense. I can’t wait to see what Matt can think of
Remember when they used to played on cosco tables, used laser pointers, and kept bumping into the backdrops?
All the critters are so proud of you, Marisha!
And the most thematic thing on set was "remember HUNTER'S MARK" scrawled on the chalk board behind Orion
I mean im assuming they will still use laser pointers on occasion
this is amazing! Years ago I remember watching you guys for the first time sitting at three separate plastic tables, rolling dice, creating memories, and having an amazing time! Here's to Critical Role!!
I still cant believe its already time for Campaign 3. How time flies~

It’ll feel weird but it is still very good. Hope you enjoy 🤟🏾
Hey, same, c1 e27...
I have already been spoiled of course...
