Your explanation is great. However, what bothers me is that when u get your ein from IRS you have to choose the structure Partnerships, once they ask how many people are in the LLC. So bc I want an LLC with my family member, I would have to file as a LLC just for the ein. Purchase the LLC for $132, then when I get the Articles of Organization, I'd have to pay an extra $100 to add my family member as an owner/member to it. Does that make sense? The way the IRS explains what a partnership and LLC is on their site, it's pretty contradicting.
