Thank you for showing us the authentic and original food of Kashmir. This food reminds me of GSB community where they avoid using onion and garlic and use very less spices.
Happy to know and taste another delicious part of KASHMIRI CUISINE..Kashmiri Culture including its cuisine is the boon of its diversified heavenly nature..JAI HIND 🎉JAI BHARAT MATA KI JAI 💕 🙏
The problem is that people are selling fake dishes in the name of Kashmiri throughout India. For example they sprinkle few nuts on a veg pulao and say it’s Kashmiri veg biryani whereas such dish doesn’t exist. Or they make any whole potatoes in any yellow thick gravy and say it’s Dum aloo. And worst is when they cook any curry mutton and say it’s rogan josh.
Problem ye nahi hai problem ye hai ki non vegetarian ko vegetarian se koi dikkat nahi par vegetarian ko non vegetarian se badi dikat hai kadwa hai par such hai🤔
What an episode... absolutely loving... Sharing the nuances of Kashmiri pandit cuisines in such detailed manner to many of us who are perhaps not aware of this side of our Kashmiri food culture... the story telling was simply superb ... so is the background score... a much loved episode of a different kind and much congratulations to the entire team...🤗👍🙏👋😋
Wonderful video! It's great to see Kashmiri Pandit cuisine. By the way, even Kashmiri Pandits are also Saraswat Brahmins, they and GSB come from a common origin.
True. Interesting that Kunal mentioned that exact caste. Chitrapur Saraswat, Rajapur Saraswat are also related. Both Tendulkar and Gavaskar come from this Rajapur Saraswat caste.
So Marathi Brahmins became pescatarians and left the other forms of non veg? Common thread is not eating onions and garlic? Jainism started the veg formulation, but whsts the deal with onion and garlic? So no chaats for them?
Not just Kashmiri pandits.. many other communities serve and offer non veg in Pooja.. in Kerala there is a temple where the Prasad is moong daal and chicken.. Bengalis serve fish head on ashtami during Durga Pooja.. It's based on the regional available resources that are utilised in cooking.. devotion and food both are part of our cultural heritage.. India is incredible for a reason.. full of surprises😊
Fish head is not offered to Ma Durga on Ashtami . The bhog offered on the day is labra -Kichuri - It is totally 'niramish'.However, there is no restriction on the people eating non -Vegetarian food. Fish head is integral part of most occasions/celebrations ( annoprashon etc) , but typically not offered to any of the Godesses as bhog ( But there may be those odd exceptions that I am not aware of).
Kashmiri Pandits remain fully vegetarian on Ashtami's. Slowly people are desisting from making non- vegetarian on Shiv Ratri. Kashmiri Pandits eating non-vegetarian is probably because of the harsh conditions in winter and perhaps vegetables not available in olden times.
@@poulomidasgupta1998 Bengalis who have their ancestry from East Bengal (Bangaal) usually offer Goddess Lakshmi Jora Ilish (Hilsa Pair) on Kojagori Lokkhi pujo along with dhaan and other offerings! Entire night of prayer, offerings and jagran!
The beauty of Kashmiri pandit cuisine is just marvelous.. without onion, garlic, tomato food can be amazing and there are many authentic dishes in Kashmiri pandit cuisine but one thing was missed that is dessert and shufta had to be presented at the end of the meal. We do have recipes with Dried vegetables Dried fishes Gucchi pulav ( Morales) Mutton items ( Roganjosh, mascch, kaliya, chok charwan, kabargah) Veg items ( dumaloo, nadru yakhni, khatte baingan, al yakhni, haak saag, rajma daal, dry fruit pulav, maunj anchar, mooli chutney, red paneer, yellow paneer, and many more )

Kunal, you do an amazing service through this channel sharing these wonderful cuisines of India. Some of these are lesser known but outstanding. I personally love Kashmiri cuisine and the heartiness and warmth of the Kashmiri people but it's a challenge to find such food in Mumbai.
