The foot switches do not seem to control tap tempo, or bank selection. Can the software control all the functions that are push buttons on the unit? That way you can have the unit on the floor to control looper/drums/expression while tweaking the tone and the unit's push button functions via software?
Hi Theo, I used the push buttons in the video to select banks but the foot switch will also select the banks up and down as well like a regular multi effects, and yes you can have the foot switch on the floor and software open on the laptop or Mac at the same time and one will counteract the other, so if you changed tone or amp or bank on the foot switch it would change in the software and vice versa, is that what you meant? @@DerekPaulGuitar Yes. I assume all the control features on the unit can be edited in the software like the gain and level. The Tap tempo does not seem to be available on the foot switches is that available in the software?

Also waiting for an answer, as I'm thinking about buying this as a gigging backup to my tube amp rig. Does anyone know? Of the dozen or so demo videos I've watched, I've not found one (unedited) where the guitarist cycles through presets with the two Up/Down footswitches in real time. That would be VERY helpful.
My QuickTime didn’t fill the screen either, I edited it to block out my screen icons, and there wasn’t acoustic tones on the first version, maybe there is if you update the firmware?
You can not turn off the amp simulation, but you can disable the cabinet simulation... So the answer to "can I just use it for effects in an effects loop or in front of an amp" is no. Also I believe it's Stereo only output. I don't see a way to make the unit output Mono in settings, most amp effects loop or front-in 1/4" jack is going to be mono input. The unit really makes use of Stereo output so you're really loosing something... My hope is that NUX will make a unit that solves these problems, because the effects are really damn good.
Hi Johann I’m not entirely sure to be honest, it’s possible to change patch certainly, but I’m not sure if you do it using the foot switch as they are used at that time for the looper functions
@@DerekPaulGuitar Update as I just received my own MG300. Is there any reason why no matter what I do it sounds thin with no body and brittle? (yes cab IR is on)
Hello, how do you save a preset in another bank or program different from the one where it was created? These things are basic and important and you don't explain them anywhere or in a manual or anything. Thanks
Use the edit/save button to start modifying a preset. If you're done, press save button. Then you get to change the name of the preset and then press save again. Then it is done.

there's no change of tone when I switch between mic positions.... why is this? also when I change mics, there is no alteration when I updated it, I diddn´t loose my sounds - but on the other hand, there are no new factory presets... just wondering
Ooh I’m not sure! The sound changed on mine, but I had the first generation firmware, I have since donated it to my nephew so I don’t currently have it with me, there’s a good Facebook forum out there though if that helps
@@kgaston4574 you’ll need the quick tone software, a free download from nuxefx.com, then you can rearrange them, you can switch them on and off in the unit but not arrange them, cheers!
What sort of amp or speakers are you playing through? The tones through my MG-300 sound nothing like yours, in fact, they are really underwhelming. After purchasing the unit, I've come to the realization that you also need to have a very high-quality amp or speakers to get the best out of this unit. All I'm after is a glassy, clean fender tone, but after trying all the settings and presets, nothing comes close. I can actually get better tones out of Garage Band than I can from this.
Thanks for the comment, I recorded through a 10 year old Mackie Onyx into logic, the sound you hear is direct from the NUX, my fav amp was the matchless 30 emulation with the gain up a little, gave me a slightly overdriven sound that I liked, cheers!

Sir can u tell me the one suitable for me I basically want a cheap processor with great tone and a processor in which is don't have to buy a audio interface and monitor directly while recording without using an audio interface . I want to upload my videos on UA-cam channel so sir can u pls help me select me one cheap processor with all the features and great tone 😀😀
That’s a good question, they are very similar, the NUX has mics on the cabinet IRs whereas the Valeton doesn’t, the Valentin has more drum patterns but ten NUX drums are better sounding to my ears, they both allow you to load your own IRs but I think the NUX PC interface is better and it has the NUX Verdugo effects and NUXs effects processor, I guess it depends on what’s important to you the most, but for my money I’d choose the NUX, hope that helps you out, cheers
I Also own both NUX MG-300 and Valeton GP100 - I agree with Derek's assessment ( NUX MG-300 Amps/Cabs and most FX sounds better on the NUX ) - there are a few advantages of the Valeton GP-100 - its input can be adjusted for -20dB to +20dB - suitable for Line Level (NUX input is fixed at -20dB), the Valeton has a Stompbox mode, Touch Wah, FX, more compressors, and all effects can be routed to any order, and can load 20 user IR cabs, for easy audition ( NUX must load CAB IR one at a time and only one Cab IR per patch) - but as a guitarist id i could only own one - Id choose the NUX MG-300
That's a good question, i know you can switch the amp off but i'll have to check later as to whether you can have the cab sim still on even with the amp off

Is it possible to use this directly into a daw without a physical amp? - For some reason it doesn't sound good with my Thr10x amp
Yes you can use it straight into your daw with the supplied micro USB cable and use it as an audio interface to record direct, cheers
Is it possible to create a freezer effect with a reverb and the expression pedal? Thanks
Hi, I don’t think it is but hopefully others will let you know, cheers!
hello, can I plug this multi-effect into my amp? i have Frontman 10g fender Amplifier and i want to put some effects into it
Absolutely, it can be used like a regular pedal, cheers
You can not turn off the amp simulation, but you can disable the cabinet simulation... So the answer to "can I just use it for effects in an effects loop or in front of an amp" is no. Also I believe it's Stereo only output. I don't see a way to make the unit output Mono in settings, most amp effects loop or front-in 1/4" jack is going to be mono input. The unit really makes use of Stereo output so you're really loosing something... My hope is that NUX will make a unit that solves these problems, because the effects are really damn good.
Hi, do you know how to factory reset, thanks 🙏
I can’t remember off the top of my head but it’s in the manual at nuxefx.com cheers :)
Hi i wanted to know whether it can used for live gigs?
Hi, the Valeton has a stomp box function and the NUX could be used at a live gig too
MG300 Is it good
It’s incredible! 👍
Sir can u make a video were u use nux mg 300 with a plugin and show us
I’m not sure what you mean? Do you mean using it as a USB interface? Cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar ya
@@falconthebeast7890 Ah gotcha, let me see what i can do
@@DerekPaulGuitar 😀cheers!
Is it possible to change patch or turn on/off some effect with footswitches, while using looper?
Hi Johann I’m not entirely sure to be honest, it’s possible to change patch certainly, but I’m not sure if you do it using the foot switch as they are used at that time for the looper functions
Can I use this as an audio interface for xlr condenser microphone?
It’s an audio interface for 5 1/4” Jack only, no XLR, cheers
Great! Is an audio interface too?
Hi, yes it’s an audio interface as well, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thanks
Very hard to the real quality as you appear to be using the neck PUP for some reason?
It’s just my favourite strat sound, I’ll be aware of using different pickups in the future, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar Update as I just received my own MG300. Is there any reason why no matter what I do it sounds thin with no body and brittle? (yes cab IR is on)
@@Neil-Aspinall Could it be the global EQ setting? press mode and adjust as necessary, worth a try
@@Neil-Aspinall Mine is the same. No matter what I do, I can't get a decent clean tone. It is really underwhelming.
can i directly use monitor speaker while recording from this output or the monitor speaker plug in to pc output..is there any difference sir?
I think your'e asking if you can plug a monitor speaker directly into the output unit? yes if they are powered, does that help? cheers
Hi Sir,... Is Steel Singer part of the effects ?
Hi, thanks for the comment, it isn’t, but.. it is on the new MG400, I made a video review here ua-cam.com/video/aUSXg6BTEP0/v-deo.html
Hi sir. Can i use this as audio interface then link with plug ins such as bias fx 2?
Hi, if the bias FX acts as a VST or plugin then yes, the MG 300 can be used as an audio interface :) cheers
Hello, how do you save a preset in another bank or program different from the one where it was created? These things are basic and important and you don't explain them anywhere or in a manual or anything. Thanks
Hi, I usually do it in the software, that’s the easiest way to do it, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thanks
Use the edit/save button to start modifying a preset. If you're done, press save button. Then you get to change the name of the preset and then press save again. Then it is done.
@@markmarkmark488 Ok, good!, thanks for answering, but this answer does not correspond to the question I have asked. Please, first read the question well (it is very simple and well written), and secondly answer (if you want), but answer something that answers the question well, (not something that by the way we all already know). I tell you all this so that you please try not to waste time and make nervous those who confidently lend you their attention. Thank you.
quick question, i saw there is studio direct mode (used to plug in to direct headphone, laptop or mixer)
does it mean the output is already balanced? (im a noob in audio setup stuff)
Hi, no problem, I use the studio direct mode (the default when switching it on) when using the USB connection room into a laptop to use it as an audio interface for noiseless recording, hope that helps, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar awesome, thanks!
Yohanes Adi Nugroho no problem at all!
How do you do to differents sounds? I push the bottom right pusher but the sound always the same!!!
That worked for me but you have to be in ‘stomp box mode’ you can also turn the select knob as I remember
there's no change of tone when I switch between mic positions.... why is this? also when I change mics, there is no alteration
when I updated it, I diddn´t loose my sounds - but on the other hand, there are no new factory presets... just wondering
Ooh I’m not sure! The sound changed on mine, but I had the first generation firmware, I have since donated it to my nephew so I don’t currently have it with me, there’s a good Facebook forum out there though if that helps
Check your output mode. If you have combo selected or stack, it disables the microphone/IR. It only activates/usable if your output mode is on Studio.
Can we monitor while recording using usb option
Yes absolutely, it can be used as an audio interface, thanks
👍👍😊
Does it have an effects loop to connect other pedals?
It doesn’t but I’ve tried overdrive pedals and delays into the front of it and it takes them really well, cheers
Can you rearrange the effects on this pedal?
Yes you can, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar can explain how to do it? thanks
@@DerekPaulGuitar. I get it now, you've proved my point. It's all about the amp and the mixer. Thanks for the reply.
@@cmjingjo no problem at all, stay well!
You have to select your output mode whether it's Studio, Combo or stack. Choose the output modes depending on the amp that you use
can we use this as audio interface? can we record the sound directly to DAW?
Absolutely, when connected via USB it’ll show up as an audio interface and you can record straight into your daw with no latency, cheers
@@DerekPaulGuitar thank you so much for your reply!
IRA-BIM no problem at all, thanks
Run Quick Tone on Linux Systems?
The only versions available are Mac OS and Windows, this is from looking on their website, cheers
Is it usb buss power?
It uses a regular ‘wall wart’ type power adapter that ships with it, cheers
What is function of output mode?
It allows you to go studio direct or into the front or rear of an amp for example, whatever works best for your scenario
@@DerekPaulGuitar What if we use it on live? What mode is best for us to use?
@@RockatHome If you use it as a stompbox then i'd use the front of the amp mode (you can chose whether you have a combo or amp head) however, try a few modes and see what sounds best to you i reckon, cheers

Sir I'm really confused on what to buy wether the nux mg 300 or valeton go 100 . Sir can u tell me the one suitable for me
I basically want a cheap processor with great tone and a processor in which is don't have to buy a audio interface and monitor directly while recording without using an audio interface .
Thank u for replying sir
It helped me a lot thanks a lot 😀😀😀i really mean it
Falcon The Beast no problem, stay well :)
I Also own both NUX MG-300 and Valeton GP100 - I agree with Derek's assessment ( NUX MG-300 Amps/Cabs and most FX sounds better on the NUX ) - there are a few advantages of the Valeton GP-100 - its input can be adjusted for -20dB to +20dB - suitable for Line Level (NUX input is fixed at -20dB), the Valeton has a Stompbox mode, Touch Wah, FX, more compressors, and all effects can be routed to any order, and can load 20 user IR cabs, for easy audition ( NUX must load CAB IR one at a time and only one Cab IR per patch) - but as a guitarist id i could only own one - Id choose the NUX MG-300
elantric thanks for your input, I’m sure this help other people too, excellent assessment of both units thank you, stay well, cheers!
can we use it as a cabsim sir? cause sometime i go with my preamp pedal so i need only the cabsim to go direct to mixer
That's a good question, i know you can switch the amp off but i'll have to check later as to whether you can have the cab sim still on even with the amp off

How do I set the pedal up for volume swells? Please help!
You push and hold the ‘edit/exit and save’ buttons together to access a menu that allows you to configure the foot pedal and then choose volume from there, does that help? Thanks
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thanks for answering. When I hit the edit/exit button the same time as the save button, it gives me the option to calibrate the pedal, but it never gives me the option to use it for Volume.
