    This video convinced me and It didn't disappoint. Since the basic presets weren't to my taste, I started creating my own right away. Turned out great. You can really tweak it. I went for gritty amp settings(that I could neither afford nor need practising at home). The cab sims are great. Also every possible basic pedal effect is here, makes life easier for me to experiment. Recording function adds extra practicality along with the audio interface function. What could I possibly need more. My ears certainly don't hear the difference of a digital vs analog rat pedal for example. Or even amp. Cheers!

    Out of the 100s of MG-300 reviews, this is the best by far. Derek covers ALL the highlights, how he does it under 12mins is beyond me (!?)

    interesting fact - these devices are made to be run thru a full range speaker . playing it thru something like a flatish studio monitor - DESPITE the manufactures putting combo front stack rear options - will enable the listener to actually HEAR the device , rather than hearing your amp . thanks for the demo it was helpful for a few questions i had like you listed all the output options but to be honest i would have been more impressed if you would have plugged it into your computer speakers . but what do i know ... mate .

    Picked one up about a month ago and it's amazing how good this thing sounds. In a blind test I bet many of its models would beat out the Line6 Helix, just crazy good for $150. I'd record with the NUX MG-300

      @@DerekPaulGuitar I found some interesting information in the User Manual. "CAUTION
      Please use the 9V Negative tip power adapter (included the box) to run MG-300. The instrument jack should be plugged to input to power ON the pedal. When you stop playing, please plug out the input cable and the power cable. Also removing all the connected cables could help to last your cables longer."

For the clean stuff I’d recommend the NUX if it’s high gain then you can’t go wrong with either, it’s just that the NUX has a fantastic modelling circuit and a gorgeous matchless amp sound, check out Steve guitar on UA-cam, he predominantly uses the GTX, my Nephew has the Boss Katana and I don’t personally like it, I have the Fender Super Champ X2 which I would highly recommend but may not be in your budget, hope that helped :)

    The foot switches do not seem to control tap tempo, or bank selection. Can the software control all the functions that are push buttons on the unit? • @Case_
      @Case_ 3 роки тому

      How would you suggest simulating an accurate amp sound without noise? The noise is not technically originating in the amp, it's not a feature of the amp - it's coming from your guitar and gear in front of the amp. The amp is just that - an amplifier. It's amplifying what's on the input. If it's a high gain amp, it's amplifying it a lot, hence a lot of noise. It doesn't know if it's noise or tone. If you make it so it doesn't amplify noise, you either basically put a permanent noise gate in the circuit (which you don't seem to want), or you'll change the tone of the amp.

      You can not turn off the amp simulation, but you can disable the cabinet simulation... So the answer to "can I just use it for effects in an effects loop or in front of an amp" is no. Also I believe it's Stereo only output. I don't see a way to make the unit output Mono in settings, most amp effects loop or front-in 1/4" jack is going to be mono input. The unit really makes use of Stereo output so you're really loosing something... My hope is that NUX will make a unit that solves these problems, because the effects are really damn good.

    What sort of amp or speakers are you playing through? The tones through my MG-300 sound nothing like yours, in fact, they are really underwhelming. After purchasing the unit, I've come to the realization that you also need to have a very high-quality amp or speakers to get the best out of this unit. All I'm after is a glassy, clean fender tone, but after trying all the settings and presets, nothing comes close. I can actually get better tones out of Garage Band than I can from this.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar

      That’s a good question, they are very similar, the NUX has mics on the cabinet IRs whereas the Valeton doesn’t, the Valentin has more drum patterns but ten NUX drums are better sounding to my ears, they both allow you to load your own IRs but I think the NUX PC interface is better and it has the NUX Verdugo effects and NUXs effects processor, I guess it depends on what’s important to you the most, but for my money I’d choose the NUX, hope that helps you out, cheers

      I Also own both NUX MG-300 and Valeton GP100 - I agree with Derek's assessment ( NUX MG-300 Amps/Cabs and most FX sounds better on the NUX ) - there are a few advantages of the Valeton GP-100 - its input can be adjusted for -20dB to +20dB - suitable for Line Level (NUX input is fixed at -20dB), the Valeton has a Stompbox mode, Touch Wah, FX, more compressors, and all effects can be routed to any order, and can load 20 user IR cabs, for easy audition ( NUX must load CAB IR one at a time and only one Cab IR per patch) - but as a guitarist id i could only own one - Id choose the NUX MG-300
