All of the G-Body cars are a hot rodders friend. Crazy cheap, lots of parts, simple, durable, and most importantly they will swallow almost any engine! The look is also timeless which is a big help. This car still looks amazing. So does the Monte and so does the Cutlass.

Jetfire is a turbo of sorts. Since it ran on its own fuel source and not exhaust, it might be more accurate to call it rocket-turbo. Ironic with Old's love of the Rocket engine nomenclature.
Those HRE's are gorgeous! The silver looks so good on the blacked out GN this is one of the cars that makes me want to go back to the 80s. My MR2 Supercharged is like the opposite end of the spectrum with it's sharp lines and spaceship like appearance but this thing is totally a rad sleeper and awesome story to boot!

Jeff they are one of the most special cars to own, your lucky to have one. My family has six and my uncle has one pushing around 850 to the wheel going 8 seconds in the quarter. Grew with these car all my life and it’s what started my interest in cars, specifically classic turbo cars

Yeah, all that cushion interior with the heart and soul of the beast. Yeah, it has the SAME suspension as the 1987 GN and other Turbo Regals. (I own one; original order and owner...)
I bought a Buick GN new in 1987! Only stupid thing I ever did with it was trade it in six years later. My only mod was a higher performance chip from Turbo City. I never had it on a dyno way back then, but the black beast easily made 500 hp on 18 pounds of boost. I never lost one time at a stop light, and didn't even have to floor it!
I'll never forget the day I learned about a grand national. It was 2004, I was in my 88 5.0 mustang. It was pretty hopped up. I pulled up behind a black Buick with the 3rd brake light cover that said "u'd lose" ..... I said bs. I nailed it. He let me get a biiiiiig lead. Then I heard turbo......then I quickly saw that brake light again. A year later. We were sitting next to each other in driving school to get points off our license lol 800hp that car made. And I will never forget my first run in with a GN
the price isn't underrated. Some go for serious bank now the Buick boys know what they got and they won't let go of them easy. Fully functional example goes for several thousands. better off going to a V8 regal and going to a 3.8 turbo swap
I just call them LC2 cars. That 8.5 rear has the same pinion bearing diameter as a 12 bolt, the BRF code 2004r is the first transmission I ever rebuilt. The D5 torque converter is the limiting factor in terms of terminal velocity, they unlock at 147 mph, but the really cool part is when the drivers side window pops in just after 120... Ask me how I know ;)
I've always loved the Buick Grand National. I don't dream of owning one anymore and going for a cruise on Sunset Blvd. At one point of my life I did and that was then this is now. Who knows maybe one day I'll reawaken that dream. (:
They are getting very expensive. I bought mine 6 years ago, if I had waited another year I wouldn't have been able to get it. I paid 19k car had 47k miles. A clean car with same mileage today almost $30k

That 3.8 v6 made is way into the Australian Holden Commodore in 1989, but not turbo. We opted to have an optional supercharger in the 96 model. The 3.8 was used up until 04.
