- First master the Straight Line Back. Start working on moving the trailer out of the lane. (About a 45-degree angle) Now learn how to back it back into the lane. Very good tip I always back it touching the line now I know why I always mess up and do 3 to 4 pull up.

Steve. I love your videos for help, but you have to zoom out with your camera so I can always see the big picture instead of squirreling the camera around in closeup.

Okay so one indication to let me know that I'm at a 45-degree angle is when I see the landing gear leg right? Soon as i see it in my mirror or when I'm looking out i can stop because I'm at 45° right?
At 160 driving academy, we painted a yellow dot in the center of the bar between the landing legs. Another school marked the side of the trailer and mud flap.
The center of the trailer in your mirror. I let each school instructor teach the setup. I teach every student how to make adjustments or how to correct a bad setup .
A tractor trailer driver just back up a short distance and makes any needed adjustments. Backing up more than 45 degrees will not work well for any student or driver .
45 degrees or less is better- does not have to be exactly 45.
Get yourself a uhaul trailer you will learn this and it will click.
