- Welcome to my “Sunday Night Stay-at-Homebodies Open Mike Set #121.
I post youtube video sets (usually three songs) on Sunday nights around 8pm PT USA and share them to my facebook timeline as well. With these posts comes a standing invitation to singer-songwriters and spoken word artists to share a recent video of some of your own stuff (covers are fine too) in the comments below my posts, as well as a promise that if you post your stuff on the same night I post mine, I will do my best to watch and comment. My Sunday nights are reserved for listening to music, preferably of the homespun variety.

“From The Temple To The Street" and "Hit" are both from my album "From The Temple To The Street", "Dumb" is from my album "Undiscovered~Part Two" and like all of my other songs, they are available for downloading free or with a donation at www.GeneBurnett.com They are also available at all the usual e-retailers of music, where they might be faster and easier to find...but each one will cost you a buck.

“From The Temple To The Street”, is quite an atmospheric, slow-burning song with a tension in the lyrics that matches the panoramic melody. Wistful and involving.
"Hit", is quite a change of pace - classic steel-string country/folk with a catchy tune and evocative lyrics. Very well crafted.
“Dumb”, is a great way to end set: light-hearted and uplifting, it’s incredibly infectious and relatable. I’d say the melody is one of my favourites of yours!

Great set.. I love these WIld Card nights as it gives me a chance to hear the songs and consider why they would be hard to categorize and what that might mean as a fellow songwriter. 'I'm as dumb as a genius can get..' great line. Cheers dude.

From The Temple To The Street: I would call this a “thoughtful and soulful” kind of song! “The past is at my back…and the future is at my feet…I’m trying to be kind to everyone, including me.” Thank you. Hit: A catchy litany of “hits” of various kinds, all woven together to good effect & greater meaning…“Nothing happens for a reason…the reason is always late.” Dumb: Well alI can say is maybe the world needs more of this kind of dumb!? 😆 Thanks as always for sharing your thoughtful, inspiring songs!
