- Mindful photography at the seaside, what could be better? After a week of sunny weather, I head to the beach to make the most of the golden evening light. Rather than photographing generic seascapes, I look below my feet and discover a new world of photographic opportunities.

The clamshell looks like a butterfly in flight
"Getting out and trying something different"... my new photography mantra. That's the best way to grow, to get better.
The new name is a great brand. I really enjoyed the detail shots from the beach and will try that this summer.
This really inspired me. I am in the process of going to Myrtle beach in about a week. Now I have new ideas. Thank you.
Wonderful shots, always enjoy your videos.
The seaweed and snail images are brilliant! Love them!
I really like your snail images
The snail was delightful, Kim! Thanks for sharing!
I love the whimsical music to go with the ‘whimsy’ of the snail ❤️
Very nice looks lovely 👍
Thanks for sharing ..... agree with your comments and enjoyed the pics...😀
Now you will always looks for snails. You're hooked! Thanks Kim.
Luv the snail with its own go faster stripes.
Wonderful video. Thank you.
What a lovely night. Love the patterns and shapes of the sand left behind by the tide. Really liked the colour photo's of the snail with the light on it and the sand. Never seen a snail leaving tracks in the sand before. You are so right...take the time to look down. You neve know what you will see.
Peacefull picture's.
Loved the snail series. Good reminder to look everywhere.
Awesome!
Wow, those snail pics were beautiful, think my favourite was either the square crop or the portrait one at 9:50 - all the negative space in the portrait one probably just clinches it for me :D and the music choice was perfect for these! Well done adapting to your surroundings, it's a great lesson to learn.
Thanks for another idea, a snail, who knew :)
Kim thank you for opening my eyes
Loved this Kim so different , it's great to get out and try something different , connecting to nature , loved the snail images thank you 👍
Loved your take on beach photography, beautiful. The colours, sounds and views are so relaxing and I love your accent. New friend here and new sub!😊😊😊👍
Nice message again👍and nice guitarmusic
Totally agree with you.I quite often do exactly what you say and do, looking down at the sand and photographing shells and other things of interest, on my local beach.Getting strange looks from other beach strollers, but us photgraphers know what we are up to.
Great to hear you're open to these types of shots. I really enjoyed this and can't wait to do it again :)
👌👌👌
Your work and country are beautiful.
Thank you very much and the country certainly is :)
Love the snail shots Kim! Great reminder to always look down! Much appreciated from a lock-down in Canada!
Another awesome video Kim! I just love your photographic perspective!!
Thank you very much :)
Great video Kim, inspiring as always!! Love the shots, especially the snail reflection👍🏻👍🏻!
Thank you Barry :)
Nice vlog Kim but that snail 🐌 beautiful. I wondered what you were up to. When you say you were watching a snail Mmm. Time well spend Kim it's all that small things and connections that make the difference... However it does need a name..... 😂 😂
Good morning Kim Grant enjoying your chat as always and images ...
Lovely shots. I have been going to a local beach several times a week now. I have purposefully focused on "the little things" on the beach but this video shows me I can find so much more.
Lovely to hear Jeff. I hope you you'll come home with something exciting on your next trip.
An interesting video Kim.
You are right, when we all walk along the sand we never think of looking down at the sand for a different shot.
Some interesting images.
Food for thought.
Kim, great vlog,
Very inspirational.
Name the snail competition.... There was another video, some time ago with a snail !!! Norman is a good name. Thanks for sharing your lovely photos.
Hehe snails definitely seem to pop up on my channel now and again. I do like Norman :)
Thanks for always inspiring us to go out and you never know what catch your eyes! I hade breakfast out at our lake in Sweden and just did that but I had to come home to this time at sunday to watch your new video :)
You're very welcome Helena. Sounds like you had a lovely morning. Thank you for watching :)
Some beautiful shots there Kim, thanks for them and for the insight into what is beneath our feet. The image at 09:15 is stunning with the subtle colouring in the sand blending into the colours of the snail. Wonderful
PS After your little homage to the snail, I could easily imagine you going home and emulating the Bard by penning "To a Snail"
Thank you very much Alasdair. Really glad you liked the images :)
Some good tips there Kim, we have a few beaches local to me and i find them very flat and nothing to write home about there is no real foreground like rocks or sand dunes just flat sands , maybe this will open my eyes next time i visit, i like the snail images at 9:16 and 9:58 , really nice .
Thank you Lee. Yeah some beaches are less exciting than other from and landscape or foreground point of view. It is amazing what you can find when you look down though. Good luck next time you're at your local spots.
Loved the 1st seaweed shot; looked like it was cuddling a mini sand dune.
Where about’s are you this week? I’m planning on coming to Scotland later this year when things are relaxed more and we can travel further. Some lovely sunset photographs.
This was Lossiemouth on the Moray Coast. Enjoy your trip when it comes 😊
I left a comment on your last video saying I wanted to purchase a print of, I think, it was the last image in the video. I never heard from you. I took a screenshot of the image if you need to confirm which one it was. You live in such a beautiful part of planet earth. Keep up the good work!
Hi James, sorry I'm a bit behind on answering comments. I'm going to be selling prints on my website very soon. Can you send me an email please with the screenshot attached so I know exactly which image it is and I will get back to you with details: kim@visualisingscotland.co.uk
Enjoyed this
Sometimes it’s right in front of us!
The humble snail. 🐌 💪👍
Awesome stuff as always Kim. Thanks for letting me tag along!
I hope Brian the snail made it home!
I think he did!
I "connected with nature" down at the beach, one day. Standing at the water's edge, I misjudged the size of a wave and it hit me straight in the face!!! :D :P Your best shots of the day were of the snail :D I really liked those!!
Gorgeous weather and lovely images! I honestly can't wait to go back to the coast. I live in the Fens but The Wash isn't really a local destination for me, but I'm hoping by May I can return to the ocean :)
Fingers crossed for you Lydia. I hope it's lovely when you're able to get there.
Hahaha, I thought the "generic" sunset shots were fantastic! The other shots were great, too. Excellent new channel name, Kim. All the best, Gordon
Thank you Gordon ☺️
Great video Kim and nice pictures with details in the sand. I saw beautiful reflections on the beach from the lighthouse. Did you afterwards saved the snail her life :-)
Thank you Dirk. It was very near the sea when I left it and the tide was coming in. I imagine she was ok.
Great Mindful Vlog, have you changed the name of your channel kim, lovely light and spring colours, thanks for sharing
Thank you Tony. Yes - I am now Visualising Scotland. I made a community post about it earlier in the week. Same content but under my new business name :)
I am thinking of getting a dslr and focus on aesthetic photography/photojournalism. What are your advise to get started about it ?
just love Your enthusiasm :o}
Was wondering if you was using a filter and if so which one please 👍🏾
For this shoot no. I did put a polariser on briefly to see the effects it had on the reflections and water pools but didn't like the results so removed it again 🙂
@@kimgrantphotography oh ok, couldn't understand how you was getting 50 and 80 seconds only other way I could think was bulb. 👍🏾
@@kimgrantphotography forgot to say Kim, keep up the good vlogs really enjoy watching them.👍🏾
I can only watch your videos when my wife is not asleep. Music is too loud
Did the snail get to safety? I've got to know!
I think so! He was pretty close to the sea when I left him and the tide was coming back in :)
I was wondering if you could post a video, asking for our questions, then shoot a video answering our questions?
I've done a few Q&As in the past but I am open to doing another as it has been a while. What questions would you like answered?
@@kimgrantphotography thanks for replying, hope you have some time in the future for a q/a.
:)
Beautiful video. Thank you.
