For me, I would have called the CPS to inform them that my MiL is going to dump her daughters two unruly kids on my doorstep again, because her daughter is off somewhere, and they need looking after, even though the DiL had told her she does not want to look after the kids because of their destructive nature which costs her a lot of money to put right. The CPS can sort out things after that.....Then there was the affair by the SiL, and things were not very happy after that.....😀
I'll bet that when MIL and SIL found out the wife got pregnant, they had a hissy fit. I'll bet those two women are crying in their beers because they won't be allowed to see the baby.

She should have refused to look after the destructive brats after the last event, and told the MIL and SIL that if they dumped them on her doorstep again, she would contact CPS immediately. As for the damage to the house, take them to small claims court or whatever it's called in that jurisdiction to recoup the cost of repairs. People use you and walk all over you only as far as you allow them to. No more and no less.
Grab the laptop and head to a Cafe for the day. Lock and bolt the doors, and if they show up, call the cops. Plainly you will get a call if the doors are locked.
