I’ve never owned a pair of Altras, but I definitely plan to get one before the end of 2025. I’ve been following the Altra team since 2011, and I must say they’ve come a long way, making a strong impression alongside major brands. Keep up the great work!

I bought the mount blanc carbons last year and getting the torin 8’s this week. They’re both amazing. Love the zero to low drop and foot shaped toe box 😍
I started with Altra LP 4.5 and probably have had 10 more pairs of trail and road Altras since then. Love this brand and what they're doing in the industry!

The Timp 5 toebox has shrunk since the previous iteration. So has the overall comfort (the toe bumper is too stiff and flexes in a weird way, biting into the big toe joint).

I’m excited for the new Torin. Then last model squished my little toe and was stiff and hurt my Achilles. Lately I’ve been all in on brooks but having a zero drop for a couple days a week is great for calf strength

Has that happened to you? Ive been wearing mine out and no issues so far.
@ I use them to day hike in Montana. I don’t wear them (except the first day or two around the house to break them in) for any other purpose. I track the mileage with a Garmin Fenix. I’m 6 ft 190 lbs, so not a small guy, but not obese where the durability would be negatively affected by my weight. I have concluded that ever since Altra was purchased by a big corporation the quality has cratered. It’s a shame because they are very comfortable for long hikes. I was hoping the Lone Peak 9’s are more durable (the company is aware they have a durability issue) but I won’t buy another pair until I hear from other hikers and trail runners that they didn’t become unusable before 300 miles. I can’t remember the actual mileage now, but the pair of Olympus shoes I had cost me about 80 cents a mile.
