@@phuckerby --- what can I say, a lot more people are interested in Hugh Grant's political views than in any of your own...
Besides, he hasn't expressed any political views here beyond his belief that victims of crime or other people who have not asked for any kind of celebrity not be hounded by the tabloids, which I think is a perfectly praiseworthy effort.

I watched Another Country when it was available on channel 4- love the story of Guy Burgess, and was blown away by the representation of both gayness and the yearning for an idealistic, radical left society. After that I found out about Maurice and wasn’t going to watch it because everyone said it was so sad, but after learning more about the story and watching far too many Lana Del Ray edits, I decided to give it a go! I really loved the agonising plot, but ultimately the happy ending, and I particularly enjoy the character of Alec Scudder as a representation of the working class- he rightly sees himself as equal and just as worthy as Maurice and the other rich characters. I saw it for Mr Grant and was not disappointed, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, enjoy the film.
