    For those who are new here, "like an asym pro-motion" is VERY high praise around here

    Luke I have a UFO ALERT. And I’m looking for a second ball. My question is are they too similar to carry together?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  11 місяців тому +1

      Oh no, the Alert and this ball are really different. They're supposed to be similar but they're just not, and since I would suggest keeping this ball at 2000 or 3000 grit, that will separate them even further. This ball doesn't look great polished but is very good with some surface.

    Hammer black pearl urethane PLEASE! From the looks of it, it’s a 4&2 move but ur expertise will give THE MOST ACCURATE depiction of the ball. Excited for the “NU” review to drop

    Incredible to see such a massive difference with a surface change. I ran into something like that with my summit. I shined it up (since I am rev dom) and it was crap. Lazy, missed the break on longer/heavier stuff, and would lock up on me. Said screw it and hit a 2k pad on it at a tourney and bowled all 6 games (college mind you) with it. It even gave me a 240 when everyone around me was scratching their heads with urethane. Thanks for your advice on surface prep with the spray bottle of water!

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Рік тому

      Yeah I actually hit the Summit with a 3k pad every time before I bowl, makes it amazing. This is about the biggest difference I've ever seen a surface change make, usually it's pretty predictable, just makes something earlier and smoother, but it just changed the match up completely.

    Clone with the polish knocked off is something else. I can't believe my buddy still keeps his at out of box, especially since they switched our league pattern to Stone Street.

    While I don’t own this ball, I have thrown it at two different demos at two different houses with completely different lane surfaces… and loved it at both. Just a want versus need at this point mostly. Got stuff that’s working so the new ball syndrome isn’t kicking in here.
    Luke, watching your footage it seems like your misses are more amplified when you are popping up at the line. The shots that you stayed down and/or more balanced looked amazing. More shape with predictable motion. Not a knock at your style cuz I dig it. Anyway, thanks for these report cards and updates. Not enough of them out there. Stay golden 👍

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Рік тому +2

      Well I was popping up trying to get more into the ball to get it to do something lol, that was the "simmer down" gesture later in the shiny footage to slow down and stay down. Appreciate the eyes tho, sometimes something gets to me for a while and I can't figure it out!
      Yeah this is a good one that I'm sure will be on the closeout list here before too long, so keep it on the radar for when it gets cheap!

    8:31 Funny, I've found a lot of balls now are CHEAPER than they used to be especially for rare/overseas stuff. I paid ~$300 for a Code Perfect years ago - it was my personal treat to myself after beating cancer. Recently got an overseas Hammer for like $110 and a Code Extreme for $200.
    Of course with rare/overseas/discontinued you might be buying the last ball in someone's garage / yard sale / whatever so Your Mileage May Vary.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Рік тому

      Yeah there's definitely plenty of balls to be had for a lot cheaper than they used to be. It depends on how popular they are, but overseas balls used to be the extra treat, now there are so many options stateside that already cost so much that I think it's reducing the interest of the overseas stuff somewhat, because there are so many of those released too that it's hard to keep track of, so I think it's just a case of a little oversaturation in addition to the economy and how much everything costs.

    I just got the Clone drilled up last week and threw it in league last Friday. We bowl on old wood lanes that has beat up mids and dry outside. The reaction I got was almost identical to the reaction you saw... I had no issues with it getting to the pocket, but no matter where I tried to throw it, I was leaving the 7 pin and odd ball single pin and split leaves. I didn't have a pad to sand it down with but I am gonna try that and see what kind of difference it makes for me. I got this ball for tournaments, specifically for Wichita and Springfield... hope this ball works out for me after taking some shine off of it.

    i am just upset with how many good balls have been discontinued maybe they put to many release out. seems like they over do new releases dont give others time to be used to gain sales. i really wish i could find a 11 or 12 pound Revenant or phaze 5 i really want to start a ball collection and to use them to

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Рік тому +2

      Things don't get discontinued because of new releases, they put out new releases because of how quickly people get bored with things. If people would keep buying a certain ball, they'd keep it in production. They only discontinue something when it's not popular enough to continue to keep it in production because people aren't buying it.
      Company release schedules and whether something stays in production or is discontinued is 100% consumer driven, so if you're going to be upset at someone, don't be upset at the companies, they're just responding to the market.

    I am a lefty with close to you stats just by eye, just not the consistency. You mention it not an ideal league ball. I have been struggling to get favorable reaction out of my summit, figuring out my gold label, and my absolute is my turn brain off throw up the 10. I just suck on fresh ths. Was thinking vebo or absolute power?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Рік тому +1

      So to start, a trick with the Summit because it took me a while to figure it out too. It doesn't like to be hooked much, it likes you to be really soft and nice with it. It's a really strong ball so you might just not have enough oil for it, but mine was really over/under until I dropped my rev rate with it and started floating it, then it came to life.
      The Summit for me with a little surface has been my go to on fresh ths, and with the Gold Label or Absolute, they have to have surface because of how clean and sharp they are. The left side is already somewhat over/under, so it's typically the best idea to find something that reacts earlier and is smoother, so I'd definitely recommend this ball over the other two, I think they're also the wrong direction to go. My VEBO is also too clean and sharp, as is the Power without so much surface that it makes it too strong to use just trying to tame down the shape.
      I didn't say it wasn't an ideal league ball, I said it was really at home on tougher patterns and that it did get me a couple big sets in league, but that I preferred to save it for tougher stuff. I think your biggest thing is that it seems like you're drawn to cleaner and sharper balls and that's going to cause problems more often than not on the left side because we need earlier and smoother stuff to control all the shape. It might not be that you aren't that consistent, it might be that you're just constantly fighting ball reaction and that's what's making you inconsistent.

    • @NJAsmodeus1
      @NJAsmodeus1 Рік тому +1

      @@LukeRosdahl I guess I am scared to get a strong ball because I don’t know what I am looking at. Had my worst series this week and questioning most of what I am doing.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Рік тому +1

      Well most of the stuff you have is strong, it's just also angular too, I think that's just your issue period is that everything aside from the Summit, which is SUPER strong, that you have or are looking at is angular. It might be time to hit the reset button and just get something like a Hyped Solid that's cheaper, more medium strength and smoother and start from there and figure out if that's enough. It very well might be.

    How closely do you think the clone and the phaze 2 are, because when you said that it's your go to strong ball for sport patterns, that makes me think phaze 2

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Рік тому

      The P2 is more cover, but it's also more shape. I did add some context though, the Clone is only a medium strength cover, but with all the friction and shape on the left side, it ACTS like a big ball for me because everything hooks so much over here. The P2 for me is a definite step up across the board.

    I to knocked this to 2000 then reacta stuff. This ball is my game 2 and 3 killer in league. Once my summit losses its carry the Clone absolutely kills it. Smooth readable reaction especially for an asymmetric. 2 300s and 1 800. This ball was my ball of the year last year.

    Storm needs to rewrap this core. I threw a natural 300 with the UFO in a no tap. Righty BTW. You can throw it soft with revs but it hits without a lot of forward speed. I think Luke has made a lot of informed buyers.
