The Prophet Muhammad said, "No child is born but upon Fitra (as a Muslim). It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Polytheist." (Sahih Muslim, Book 033, Number 6426)
Our prophet muhammed s.a.w.s was so kind, He lost his mother when he was 6 and after when Our prophet muhammed s.a.w.s was mature , Some Sahabah(companions) of prophet muhammed s.a.w.s reported to have accompanied the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) to a grave, where he sat down and cried profusely, to the point where he choked up and lost his breath. The Sahabah also started crying. Umar comforted the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and asked why he was crying so much, to which the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) replied that the grave was that of his beloved mother. This story shows the human, emotional side of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam).
Our prophet muhammed encourage us so many times in his days of living that be kind and humble to you parents!
And in Qur'an it is God told us to respect our parents and show your mercy to them.
The Holy Qur'an
17:23 And your Lord has decreed that you serve none but Him, and do good to parents.1 If either or both of them reach old age with you, don't even say uff(say no word to them showing annoyance), nor rebuke them, and speak to them a generous word.
17:24 And make yourself gentle to them with humility out of mercy, and say: My Lord, have mercy on them, as they brought me up (when I was) little.
17:25 Your Lord knows best what is in your minds. If you are righteous, He is surely Forgiving to those who turn (to Him).

Its the same way that 'bhakt' originally meant a devotee of a god, but now it means a Hindu nationalist who wants other religions to get out of India.
When people use it now, they mean it as an insult, they aren't calling you a struggler, they're calling you a terrorist.
