- An ‘el niño pheneomenon’ hit my country before the dry season. Now that the dry season came, the weather became hotter than usual. In some parts of my country they are experiencing 45 to 50 degrees celcius during the day. In our place, we’re still lucky for having 37 to 40 degrees celcius heat index during the day and 21 to 29 degrees celcius during the night. It is cooler than the other places in the Philippines.
To beat the heat, I made halu-halo, a Filipino shaved ice dessert with sweetened fruits and other ingredients. This food is very memorable to me. I remember growing up, I beg for 10 pesos to my mother and go buy half-halo in our neighbor's house during the dry season. I enjoy eating half-halo under the mango tree back then to relieve myself from the heat.

Your words at the end made me teared up. I instantly remembered my childhood when we went to our province in Antique. I and my cousins there enjoyed the ice cream (sorbetes) during the summer. You can have a large cup full of ice cream for a cheap price back then, plus its taste is very flavorful.

Sobrang underrated ng Nueva Vizcaya, dinadaan daanan lang, probinsya ng nanay ko yan, sa may Bayombong, kahit hindi ako marunong mag Ilokano ehh napamahal na din ako sa probinsya na yan, masayahin pa ang mga tao at malamig talaga tuwing bagong taon dyan.

I could so relate with you. It was hard growing up as poor. Kids these days are more fortunate, pampered and have so much. But now that we are better off financially, we could eat or buy or cook ANYTHING we want! I know I do. I’m very happy for you! Wishing you more success!

Wow, what a stunning view, especially the sunrise, the sounds of the birds and the roster are so classic to hear. I admire this guy, he is so industrious, and helpful, and takes care of the family preparing their food. The mother, father, and older brother were not helping at all except; the little boy assisting him in the preparation of the halo-halo. I am very impressed with their house, so simple yet perfect. They have their own vegetable in their garden, so they know how to be sustainable whatever is available in their yard. They are smart to plant their own vegetables. What a beautiful place and you can admire that GOD is great, how he created this world with beauty thank you Gayyem, you are a hard-working person, and you are a great cook, I like the way you cut and chop the vegetables and the finished dish look awesome and colorful.
