Wow it was a pleasure watching your reaction because you are reviewing it as an adaptation and a separate media, your book references are constructive and to guess where are they going with it, rather than focusing on book accuracy as a tool to measure the quality of the show like many others

Glad you like my approach! I hope those who have a harder time accepting the changes can find a way to step back and consider all the reasons they may have been made. It's so easy to assume laziness or bad faith, but the creative team is full of people with what I think is obvious love for the books and *deep* knowledge of the story and lore. People like that make changes for good reasons.

@@reverseBLT- Completely agree! I mean, there is FORTEEN BOOKS worth of material to adapt... but the show will get 6, maybe 8 seasons to work with at most! So they have no choice but to change up people's storylines, combine characters, or cut people from the show all together! They HAVE to make changes to make everything fit in such a small amount of time. Doesn't help that each season is only 8 episodes too! 🙄 So they are doing the best they can. I really believe that. And I think doing well! People who haven't read the books are LOVING the show as well. Which helps with views & will save the show from being canceled. So I wish people would just chill out.

@@KabbalahSherryI'm glad they appear to have gotten longer runtimes, at least, which they seem to be making very good use of. Too bad Amazon wouldn't give them 10 episodes a season, though.

"Everyone has a reason." One of the signs of good writing.
I am very glad Mat is back.
I remember that scene you talk about from the books, with someone cutting Nynaeve off from the Source. (I didn't read the books much past that, for a variety or reasons, but that was a strong scene and it's stuck with me over the past two decades.)

    • @reverseBLT

Such a huge moment. I think one reason it stuck with me so strongly is it made it very clear that raw power wasn't going to guarantee victory for anyone in this story. Skill and strategy would be just as important.
And also super glad Mat is back. I can't wait to see how they handle his storyline.

Love your video and positivity. I read the books because I loved the show, and now that I read the books, I still love the show. And I shouldn't say still - in my view, the show kept the essence of the characters and the main beats so far, and I can't understand why some readers would want a word-for-word adaptation. Honestly, it wouldn't be as good as they think. This show is fantastic; thank you for not click-baiting just by nagging about the show's decisions and differences from the books.

    • @reverseBLT

Thanks for the compliments. I try my best to make sure you guys see my honest reactions to things, good and bad.
Early in the first season, I had quite a few critical things to say, and eased off as the show found its footing a bit better. If I notice a change that I can't understand, I'll point it out, and if I see one I think is awful, I'll call them out on it, at least as much as I can without spoilers.
So far, there haven't been any changes I can't see reasons for and potential in. I think that's the biggest reason I'm not a bookcloak. If I weren't a writer (albeit an extremely slow one) who's thought a lot about how I would approach adapting things, if I ever got such an opportunity, the changes would probably scare me a lot more than they do.
I just hope they manage to stick the landing.

Great reaction, I was waiting to see and hear your thoughts on it. I really enjoyed this episode and I from what we have seen so far of the new Mat I think he's a really good choice as the replacement. I think the episode did great at setting the tone and catching up to where everyone is at to start the season. I agree the show seems to have much better production so far everything seems to be improved production wise not that it was ever bad before. I find it interesting how certain side characters from the books maybe seem to have been combined together is some ways. One of the big issues I thought going into a series was there were just too many characters for a tv show to handle.
About the warder bond if I remember right, which I might not, it doesn't effect strength or speed but does help with stamina, endurance, and quicker healing to a small degree. Which in a way I suppose could help a bit with strength and being willing to push the body further past natural limits when fighting. After all of one the limits we place on ourselves as humans is holding back so that we are not pushing too far that we hurt ourselves. If you know your body can withstand more than it should normally be able to one can push themselves further. Just how I kind of see how the bond might help make someone fight harder than they would otherwise. I might be wrong though about the bond its been a long time since my online wotmaina days theorizing and digging into details of things.

    • @reverseBLT
      @reverseBLT  Рік тому +1

It's always fun seeing how things get remixed. I think we've collectively decided Verin has had Vandene merged into her character. I'm too fuzzy on the details of TGH to theorize much on how that will change how certain things play out, except to say a whole new depth of heartbreak is on the table now.
Your thoughts about the Bond make sense. Humans are *insanely* strong and pretty damn fast, without our brains regulating our physical exertion. If one of the big things the Bond does is decrease the regulation, a Warder would be noticeably stronger and faster than other trained and well-conditioned fighters.

By severed, I don't mean to imply she's been Stilled. I know that it's *possible* she has been, but I figured she was Shielded and the Weave was tied off, in the S1 finale. I'm thinking of it in devastating terms because that's how Mo is thinking of it.
Come to think of it, they probably made sure we got the scene with Liandrin Shielding Nynaeve nice and early to make sure we would have that possibility in our heads.

I am actually sure they want to keep Moirane in focus hence she is having Siuan's stilling Storyline, and Nyneave will end up healing Moiranes 's stilling... which will then mean that Siuan will end up dead instead ...producers don't have time nor budget to run that storyline with another side character so they are giving it to Moirane, in production they need to merge characters and storyline to make it affordable ...

    SPOILER ALERT: The Ways
This just something what is bothering me : How does Padan Fain use the Ways in the series???
Moiraine uses the One Power to open the Waygates here. (Which is very inconvenient with the Machin Shin on the horizon.) But in the books the Ways were created for the Ogiers with a Waygate near every Ogier Stedding so that they could travel without being overcome by the "longing". And thus it doesn't need the One Power to open the Waygate.
