M y father worked at JM . Started as a laborer in the later 1940s and rose to being the boss of the Aesbestos Department in the 1970s. He was always concerned with safety and he made the guys who worked there wear the protective gear. They made asbestos pipes and when some were inspected and had minor flaws and could not be sold, he would donate them to Bound Brook, Somerville and Manville . It gave them some equipment to start to plan how to deal with the flooding issues . My Polish , Hungarian relatives from Manville also worked there. But, it is up to the city planners and engineers to develop the plan to prevent or minmalize the flooding..there are State and Federal programs which could help Manville but the city planners and engineers need to apply for them. I worked at a law office in Somerville which were the lawyers for Hillsboro . They put in many hours requesting money from the Federal Government or the State Government for flooding problems there. That meant meeting with the engineers and understanding their plans and going to township board meetings. If Manville doesn't start doing this then nothing will change. An abatement plan and money for it doesn't float down from the skies.
