But if they dont want to eat it the crickets become a problem, since they are omnivorous they may bite your gecko, wich may develop in an infection and rot. Other insects like mealworms may just hide away and pupate. There are exeptions, but generaly, dont do this

My geckos feeding response is ridiculous. I have to leave my hand a few inches away from him for a few seconds before picking him up every time so he doesn’t bite me thinking he’s getting some insects 😂

THANK YOU! My crestie is 14 years old and from what I can tell, she hasn’t ever eaten insects (before I got her a couple months ago). I’ve been sitting with her for up to 45 mins just trying to get her to eat an insect but she always just moves her head away. What’s strange is that she always licks her lips and moves her head in a way that she can see the insect but she never actually goes for the bite. (She’s only ever eaten for me 1 time). She won’t hesitate to eat her fruit mush or small peices of banana as a treat once a week or two. I’ll try this next time, thanks so much lol
Crested geckos and geckos in general are are very shy when being hand fed or fed outside the cage. My buddy would only eat inside his cage for a year before he was comfortable eating around me.

Well that’s just great, my crested gecko could potentially have the exact opposite problem that my bearded dragon that I do have currently has; he refuses to willingly eat his vegetables, so i practically have to shove them down his throat, but he loooves his bugs. I will definitely have to introduce a varied diet early into my creative’s diet when I get one.
Additionally if you hand feed them ever you can dip the roach in the sauce a little to season it, my gecko had a poor feeding response but eventually i trained her to have a strong response
Yea I did the same thing with my baby chahoua, he used to only eat crushed ones but now he will eat live ones and actively hunt them as they run around
I'm 15 and have 17 reptiles that I pay for myself (work every weekend) my crestie never had problems with eating insects but this helped with my new gecko Microwave starting to eat the second I brought him home for thanks giving. Thankd

That’s a good tip! Mine only eats insects if he sees them walk around so I usually put him in a separate container with a few crickets. The’ll be gone in secondes haha!
I can say this works I’ve had picky geckos from leopard to crested and this works every time if your consistent they’ll understand it’s good and beneficial 🎉
I have 2 of them and i use these technique except that i submerge the insect in repashy so the insect smell like fruit and the gecko become more interest on the prey.

I can't believe all the info I learned was wrong! I bought the expensive guecko food with crushed insects a while back, but I was wondering why my gecko is still small. So they do need incects. I bought it crickets but she didn't care for them. I just went to check on her and caught her eating the moss patch. 😢 I've been failing her 😢 I did buy her dried chickets and will try squishing them or rubbing her regular food on it to tempt her. Until I get her live food in addition to her powdered food. Thank you so much for this video!
Mine just hated fruits complete opposite till recently almost 2 years later now he will Try some banana ( as a treat) sometimes the real thing not the mix stuff 😭
Get some isopods and it will activatie it's hunting instincts in no time. How many morphs there are they're still predators and hunting is in its blood. Just use isopods then if it won't eat them they'll be useful for cleaning the terrarium.
My crestie refuses to eat anything other than insects and this past week I have ran out and in where I live it’s really hard to find insects. My poor baby is so skinny please tell me how to get hime eating healthily 😢 Edit: he only likes eating moving/live insects, and leaves the less actives ones alive to die. He doesn’t like actual fruits and I’ve also tried a bunch of different powder formulas.

I got the opposite problem. Come thursday there aint crickets in the cage my gekos are looking at me like im about to get eaten.
