    Irish fan here. I think ireland along with SA, all blacks and prob france all have the ability to beat each other in tight games, however due to our lack of depth in the front row we simply cant put in the required back to back to back performances in a world cup. On sat furlong was clearly carrying a calf injury but wasnt sub until 50 min as his back up isnt near his standard. Not until ire have 4 to 5 international quality front row that guarantees we dont give away scrum penalties we are not winning the world cup

      Interesting take. Its true furlong and porter are overused. Porter has an engine like a Boeing but furlong? I haven't seen him do anything in years. He seems to just be there in the background. We're always talking about porter but never furlong.

      Absolutely agree. I thought Ireland started the WC so strong and dominant, but as soon as I saw no squad rotation I predicted they'd be knocked out. They are so dominant and full of fight, if they have the energy.
      As a Springbok supporter, I panicked for similar reasons when SA didn't rotate players in the Semi final. Same thing almost happened to us.
      The importance of squad depth/rotation is critical to winning the knock out matches.
      At the moment anyone in that top 6 rankings has the potential to beat each other. Awesome time to be alive watching international rugby.

      @101MIGHTYJOE it will take a complete performance to beat these teams. Maybe the boks want to evolve, realizing that. You look at Ireland, they are probably the best attacking team and now they have real mongrel in the forwards.

      Correct. We don’t have the depth in the front. The World Cup really surprised me in that Andy Farrell picked the same team week in week out. We can never win a 7 game tournament like that. I hope that’s a lesson Farrell learnt. I know they are working hard to build homegrown backs. Maybe that’s a good sign that they have the next World Cup in their sights.

    Unexpected? Lol Ireland love the underdog tag, even more than you Bokkes do. When everyone writes them off, is when you should be backing them. They don't lose two games on the trot and they weren't leaving SA without a test win. CJ Stander knows these players better than anyone and he was adamant they would win the second test even before the first test was played.
    When you're playing a side who's only lost 3 games in 24 test matches, you should never rule them out. This Irish side have been the most consistent in the world over the last few years.

      I think the Boks understand that very well from playing NZ as their biggest rivals. It's good to see Ireland and England and even Australia picking their socks up lately, great for the sport. Just hope this Tony Brown thing doesn't backfire and the Boks sink back down the ladder. SA will very much have a new squad by the next RWC and it's enough time to prepare them.

      @PB22559 Місяць тому

      @@groenrizla2513 Can't see the boks slipping back down the ladder with the strength in depth they've got. I think you're biggest challenge is selection based. When you're spoiled for choice, selection and getting the right combinations can be trickier.

    • @groenrizla2513
      @groenrizla2513 Місяць тому

      @PB22559 Well the next test against Portugal has 7 Bok debutants in the squad and some are the future Boks you'll be seeing in RWC27. Just like Am came into the squad because Jesse was injured and shone, we might see the next wave of Boks comming through because of the growing list of injuries for the Boks, injuries are sometimes a blessing in duguise, just a pity some of the upcomming Boks are also injured, if SA didn't have the depth they wouldn't be where they are, my point though was about this new strategy of Tony Brown, many S Africans are skeptical about going into new territory which supposedly is trying to keep us with the evolution of the game but is also considered a NZ style of play so it's a fine margin. Time will tell because some players are much better suited to Tony's style and on that note I agree, it's all about getting the selections right and with the Boks it's all about having utility players that can interchange between a few posisitions, I don't think anyone can really predict the future but the Boks biggest thing now is beating the Aussies on their turf which is ridiculously difficult and then the ABs in SA. After that we might have a better understanding, Boks have only played 3 games with their their new coaching staff and so I think it's too early to call for heads to roll, it just makes it more interesting.

    33:00 Likewise I don’t think you saw the best of Ireland in the first test. And Farrell knew it. That said, they came back into that game to nearly win it, and some evidence would suggest they should have. The Kolbe try shouldn’t have stood as Lowe was in touch. Likewise Doris’s try which was disallowed, shouldn’t have been. It was a try and the ball was grounded. This is not bitterness or an opinion. The video footage clearly shows it. Tas analytics on UA-cam (a South African youtuber) had the footage on his channel. That’s a 14 point swing! That’s Ireland by 7! If I wanted to be really critical, it’s highly likely the SA’s first try was on the back of a forward pass by Kolisi. Some might say flat but it looked ‘marginally’ forward. That’s a 14 point win to Ireland. Granted I concede that SA were the more dominant team in that first test. Home advantage is huge for calls like this. That said even though Ireland were dominant is test 2 and found enough to win it, SA probably should have won that game if Doris or Ryan were red carded. Also one of the penalty calls against Ireland (the one that out you in front tor the first time) was for a knock against Ireland but it was knocked on by a South African player. McCarthy had every right to go for that ball. Big calls with small margins and the momentum shifts the other teams way on the back of them!!

Sorry, Rassie, you r team must play rugby if you want to win and they MUST know how to change their game plan on the field and not wait for instructions. That is where Ireland is better - they think, they play rugby, they want to be good. Ireland up to now are only as good as their fans think they are. And even if they played well, they were extremely lucky to win at durban. Two 40m dropgoals. What are the chances.

    History doesent matter. SA are no1 ranked, WC holders but in the end of the day its not who's no1 in the world its whose no1 on the day and both games were won by the better side.

    btw think in the next 5 to 10 years France will be the undisputed number 1 rugby team in the world. Their youth teams are massive guys and very skillful. Ireland have serious issues with getting big props. The baby boks were terrible this year as were NZ under 20s. France will win the u20 RWC despite sending 7 eligible players to argentina to play with their senior team.

    Playing in Durban is like a touch rugby party vibe and it always suits the touring side, look how the ABs hammered the Boks at Kingspark.

      Agreed the second test should have been at Ellis Park

    • @groenrizla2513
      @groenrizla2513 Місяць тому

      @davidtruter601 It gives the touring side a relaxing home feel, the music and chilled out Durbanites, that's why so many Irish supporters go to watch in Durbs and not at Loftus but when we play Ireland it's only in Dublin. Ellis park much more suits the Boks but saying that, the venue is not what should wins games even though Ireland most definately would've won the first test if it were played in Dublin, Jaco Peyper even gave an example of the exact same penalty going the other way when the Boks lost in Ireland so home ground advantage def does play a small part.
      As Nigel Owens said after the 2nd test, on a different day, a different ref and the croc roll on Marx which was clearly intentional would've been a red or even 2 yellows, could've even been a red and a yellow for Ireland but the Boks were given a penalty which Polllard slotted. It's interesting times in rugby and for the Boks, instead of a 3rd test and playing Portugal instead and bringing in the newbies, the Boks are only going to build towards the next RWC.

    No impact from OMahoney for a few seasons now. His selection as captain was quite puzzling. I also suspect Rowantree wants him out of munster but his hand forced. Every provence has better options at 6 than pete and playing him at 7 is ludicrous. He has NO pace is a single figure tackler and an ineffective carrier.

      Why, oh why, would anyone like to determine who is the strongest team in the world at any specific moment in time? I can't care less about these arguments. It is very simple, it were two very tight games. Enjoy the rivalry and the ensuing battles on the rugby field. All that we can say is that it is 1 victory each, the rest is speculation and irrelevant.
