Went to high school with him absolute stud, Cy ranch class of 2018!

Can’t wait to watch him take his game to the next level this season and become a league wide threat. Even though we had to let Tony go, how excited are Orioles fans everywhere knowing that Cowser, Kjerstad, Westburg, Adley, Gunnar and Holliday are all going to be taking their games to the next level on their way to being one of the most impressive core groups that baseball has seen in decades. Meanwhile Grayson, Bradish and Bautista are going to do the same thing from the mound. Bradish might not have the chance to pitch his way into the Cy young conversation, but he’s going to be fresh down the stretch where he will make his noise in the postseason this year, mark my words. I just hope we sign Means because he has never not been a stud as long as he’s able to actually pitch and having both of them fresh after the ASB into October will be absolutely massive, watch! There’s a lot to be excited about this year. The Mountain, Mr. Bautista is back in action. Signing O’Neil and resigning O’Hearn is going to make them the deadliest offensive platoon in baseball, mark my words. Holliday is going to put it together and turn those sparks of greatness we saw some of last year is going to be an everyday thing with him, and he is going to be one of the best leadoff hitters we’ve seen in years. Holliday, Adley, Gunnar, O’Hearn / O’Neil, Westburg, Kjerstad, Cowser, Mounty, Mullins is going to be utterly insane. They’re gonna be the best 8-9 hitters in all of baseball and this is going to be the deepest, most dangerous lineup in baseball. Holliday will hit like 260-280, on his way to being a career 300+ hitter, and he’s going to see more pitches than anyone per AB with tremendous speed. The pressure will be off Adley and Gunnar bc of so many other threats, which will make them even better, on top of the pitches they will see bc of the protection surrounding them in the lineup. Cowser and Westy are going to take their best averages of the season last year and put those numbers out everyday. Kjerstad will return to form prior to the concussion and will wind up being the best all around hitter in the lineup. Hopefully we take the Burnes money and pick up Flaherty and a big reliever like Scott to give us a massive bullpen. Imagine Kittredge in the 6th, Scott / Dominguez 7th/8th and Felix closing it out. By October we will still have Wells, Cano, Suarez and whoever transitions from the rotation. If we get Flaherty, with Bradish coming back midseason, that’s those two, plus Grayson, Efflin, Sugano, Morton and hopefully we resign Means. Guarantees that at least 4 of them will be pitching super well with all the competition. Povich showed the potential to be a Max Fried 2.0 as well if he puts it together. If Grayson and Bradish turn the corner and reach their potential while means just does what he’s always done, that’s 3 Cy Young caliber starters plus Flaherty and Efflin. So Sugano, Kremer, Morton, Povich become relievers with Bautista, Dominguez, Kittredge(hopefully Scott too), Soto, Cano, Wells, Perez, Suarez, etc. That’s some kind of staff man. I’d like to see McDermott go to the bullpen. Historically, high draft picks with high velocity and high K rates that are intended to be starting pitchers, but struggle due to high walk rates due to control issues, when they move to the bullpen they become tremendous relievers. Andrew Miller circa 2012-17 for example. McDermott had a KP9 of about 13 last season. Imagine adding a guy that can come in with the bases loaded and nobody out and strike out lefty’s and righty’s equivalently. He’s got that kind of stuff. When they know they’re not going to have to pitch 5+ innings and go through the lineup 2-3 times, they can empty the kitchen sink right out of the gate which eliminates that young pitcher error of trying to be too fine. Instead they can mix it up, trust their stuff and let it fly which leads to a tremendous amount of confidence and then success after they get some good results. That would be a priceless weapon for us, especially if we don’t go get another big reliever from free agency. Then there’s the fact that Felix can go two innings whenever even though I’d rather not stretch him like we did in 2023, but October baseball, all bets are off and he’s the best closer and overall reliever in all of baseball, hands down, period end of story. If we stay healthy, this could absolutely be our year, especially with key pieces coming back later in the season, the lack of serious competition in the AL comparatively speaking and the potential of the young core growing into men physically, turning the corner with their game and experience, certain guys getting the chance to comfortably play everyday while working through the down times and other guys making their debuts like Basallo. We also have a deep bench of production with Mateo being a decent bat, a tremendous glove and top speed in all of baseball, Sanchez is a huge upgrade from McCann as a backup catcher especially on the defensive side where he’s got a cannon, Mayo could find his groove by being with the big league club everyday and become a 40HR power bat on the bench or potentially overtake Mounty at first base if his defense improves about 1000%, and one of the platoon guys will always be on the bench as a bat ready to go in a pinch depending on whose starting that day, but O’Neil kills lefties and we already know what Ryan O’Hearn does to righties. The club looked phenomenal last year but injuries killed us and a lot of guys still had a learning curve, but a lot of corners will be turned this season from start to finish depending on the individual and either way this year and the next few years are going to be super exciting as this young core grows into veteran full grown men. Who knows, maybe they’ll hold onto the Burnes money with the expectation to extend a bunch of the young guys and lock everyone up after this season. Which is why I think Flaherty will be an Oriole since he stated that he not only wanted to pitch in Baltimore, but he also is open to a short term deal. So if they sign him to a 1 year, maybe 2 year deal, and resign means, and John stays healthy and returns to form, as Grayson and Bradish evolve into the Cy young caliber pitchers they can be, there’s your big 3 starters for the foreseeable future and realistically 2 Cy young caliber starters will win World Series no question, especially with guys like Felix and Dominguez as your 1-2 punch in the back end with Felix capable of going 6 outs in October. So if they go 6 shutout innings and Dominguez/felix go 7-9 scoreless and Gunnar/Kjerstad/Holliday/Cowser hit solo homers or Adley/Westy/the platoon combine for a run driven in over the course of a game throughout four different games, you win the World Series because your game 1-2 starters also pitch games 5 and 6. So not only do we have a real lot to be excited about for this season, but as long as everyone keeps getting better, we got a lot to be excited about for a long time. We just need to get over the hump in the postseason because one series win. Ultimately, at the moment, I’m just curious to see what Ellis does the rest of this offseason following the Burnes insanity, can’t believe we finally were the team with the higher bid and the player chose location over money with a worse team none the less, and a team with nowhere near the future potential and well outside of the market publicity associated with the AL East bc even though they’re in the dodgers division, there are way more big market teams in general in the East by a landslide, and Baltimore is way bigger market than Arizona. Even if Arizona is winning they’re nowhere near the fan base of Baltimore in terms of AZ fans. A World Series return and/or win in Baltimore would be electricity like AZ can’t even imagine. Burnes should have checked out Ravens mania to see what Baltimore folks are like when their team is legit title contenders. He made a huge mistake because of humidity. He would have gotten used to it and if he stays a perennial Cy young finalist and/or winner, he would have made a lot more money here outside the contract, achieved exponentially higher heights of fame and won a lot more team titles here with the O’s than he ever will in AZ. I’d say maybe we will get lucky and see him in the fall Classic to make him really regret it, but AZ isn’t gonna get beyond the dodgers for a long, long time so he’s just going to have to suffer in silence as he watches us hoist the trophy from his living room or the AZ clubhouse. Sucks. Either way, we are still well on our way and Ellis will keep pushing the right buttons, but Hyde is dangerous. He’s the biggest problem for sure. I’m really upset that Ellis didn’t punch his ticket this offseason, but there’s solace to be found in knowing that we are going to keep getting better every year and if Hyde has a repeat of last year again this year he will be toast, and even if he’s not, he will be eventually and long before we have to worry about not being a contender anymore. We have just waited so long as it is so I would rather see him gone now to open the door to the World Series now but all the suffering we have endure has made me patient to a point where. I get all the comfort in the world from a team of this caliber. Even Hyde can’t fk this up for us, especially with Ellis here to protect us.

Too true. Absolute nonsense. Gil did not participate in 1/5th the amount of innings that The Milkman played in this season, and he was an integral part of us making the postseason. As the whole team collapsed offensively, Colton carried us on his back through so many big games. Not to mention the fact that he was one of the best defensive outfielders in all of baseball this year for all outfield positions. Absolutely absurd. Just yet another situation where the politics associated with the Yankees lead to an Oriole player getting absolutely shafted.
